Programming is beginning to wear on me, but I like the technology industry and would be interested in moving into a BA role. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to answer your question, because I feel like the BA role can be very different depending on what department you're in, let alone what industry. I came into this job with comparatively little Comp Sci knowledge and zero knowledge of the Farm Credit industry. I was thrown into the Business Intelligence department during my internship, and I apparently did very well with it. A large part of my job involves QA testing and direct customer communication (through phones, emails, documentation, training, etc.) So, at the very least, communication skills are necessary. As for technical skills - that's far more dependent on what you'd actually be doing. For us, we would want someone with prior knowledge and aptitude with SAP Business Intelligence Suite products (BusinessObjects, Lumira, Explorer, etc), but our department is the one that sets up and maintains those SAP environments. Technical requirements in other departments definitely vary greatly. I can't really speak to more without knowing what kind of BA role you'd be looking at. Jesus lord you guys all sound like a dilbert comic to me. I can't imagine sitting in a cubicle all day doing that type of thing. Today we had a 1hr "meeting" where they promised us t-shirts after showing us how well the last trade show went and thanking us for all our hard work. Then they basically gave us the sales pitch for the products we are all working on (which is like a dumb down version of what we understand but was vaguely interesting to see from that perspective). It may be dilbert esc but I'm pretty comfortable in my cubicle and I find what I accomplish to be rewarding. I'm surrounded by other witty people who have similar interests and are about my age. I can show up and leave whenever I want basically as long as i get all my shit done no one clocks me for how long my lunches are but i'm motivated to finish things in a timely manner because i know everyone on my team and what they are doing. I just got to get a standing desk and eat less burritos so i can stop being tubby.
also I would totally be the stoner at LLOT high but id also nominate myself for pornomancer because of how well this year has gone for me so far *humble brag* *sorry not sorry*

It's such an open ended question and you're not going to get anything more than a generic answer unless you have more specifics about what you're intrested in and stuff.
Similar to my previous post to Frudgy about employability, showing you have good skills and a willingness to learn is always good.

Moonbear: Download Xsplit or something, and link it to your twitch account.
Done.
Also, I made the mistake about reading more into the resurgence of measles in the US, and have lost my faith in humanity. And probably democracy.
Oh boy.

Oh boy. Ugh, I hope people have to get mandatory tests for when they fly to Africa, to not spread their preventable diseases over there.

Could just borrow someone else's stream to sing on too.

I've always romanticized the idea of having a cubicle, or anything like an established working space where you can organize stuff and put up a picture or two. I'm a farmer though, so even the notion of having neighbors who live in a house adjacent to your own (instead of having a field between) is kind of foreign. I don't actually want to work in an office, I've just always thought it'd be kind of neat in its own way kind of like how city people romanticize farming.

I don't really mind being a cube monkey

Its nice that when I actually need to get work done I can shut the door, most people don't even knock anymore though because he's not busy working on my project so let's get his attention.
As far as personal space I can have things pertaining to work. I can't have any personal effects like pictures on my desk. I'm sure it varies from office to office, but here that shit gets removed asap.
Did I mention I dislike my job? I don't think I could do yours though. Farming requires too much thought or lifting of things. That and fixing mechanical objects rather than the thing that automates them. I can help with cameras though. I'm good at that.
I should sleep.

I just want less frustration and another crew to work with, being in 4 places with 3 crews is tiring.

Every once in a while we get an email saying that we need to keep desks clean and professional. Every time I say "fuck that", close the email, and pat my Yoshi plush on the head.

Why would your desks need to look "professional"? I thought you didn't deal with any clients.

Oh boy. Ugh, I hope people have to get mandatory tests for when they fly to Africa, to not spread their preventable diseases over there. I find it ironic that some people are blaming illegal immigrants, when measles and a whole host of immunizable diseases have all been eliminated in Latin America. Measles, in particular, was eliminated in Latin America in 2011, and was carried into the US by an anti-vaccer American.
It also lead me to other stats like creationism in the US (which apparently still hasn't diminished in the US over the past 3 decades), the anti-GMO movement, etc.
The amount of anti-science in the US is depressing.
