@Cheep, I definitely believe in spending recklessly - it's all I have done my whole life and it was fun as hell and so worth it. I have spent many a times checking my bank account only to find I have the minimum 5$ keeping my savings from closing. However I have arrived at a point in my life where I actually need to save. Although that seems sad, I am actually excited to see my bank account grow and test my willpower on not touching it. @Wave Everyone got the joke, you just got wavebaited. classic.

Programming is beginning to wear on me, but I like the technology industry and would be interested in moving into a BA role. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to answer your question, because I feel like the BA role can be very different depending on what department you're in, let alone what industry. I came into this job with comparatively little Comp Sci knowledge and zero knowledge of the Farm Credit industry. I was thrown into the Business Intelligence department during my internship, and I apparently did very well with it. A large part of my job involves QA testing and direct customer communication (through phones, emails, documentation, training, etc.) So, at the very least, communication skills are necessary. As for technical skills - that's far more dependent on what you'd actually be doing. For us, we would want someone with prior knowledge and aptitude with SAP Business Intelligence Suite products (BusinessObjects, Lumira, Explorer, etc), but our department is the one that sets up and maintains those SAP environments. Technical requirements in other departments definitely vary greatly. I can't really speak to more without knowing what kind of BA role you'd be looking at.

It's not just coding! I did spend 1.5 hours fighting with that goddamn talend shit because my fix was right from the first try but because of unmentioned changes it made to what I asked it to create (and lack of access to what actually screwed up) I had to generate the executable again, re-update it, commit it to our version control, then reinstall it on the testing environment and set it up for delivery to the client in case it works, multiple times. Fuck talend. That was repetitive and jarring.
