If I had more money to throw around I might buy a Wii. Wii games are some of the most fun games I've ever played.

Doubtful. I'm pretty sure that's a very secure Sony IP.

Most exclusives lately seem to be FPS games and Action/Adventure games, so if you're gung-ho about RPGs I think most of them are cross-plat nowadays.

Mine's just been collecting dust, though. SSBB, No More Heros, and the regular Nintendo Zelda/Mario/etc games were the only ones I really enjoyed.

Considering getting a Wii U, but I don't really have the time to play more games/consoles, and I don't want to waste monies.

If it was a let down because you liked Melee, then go download Project M. Like now.

but true men don't Then that sort of defeats the purpose, and then you might as well go console gaming, with crap computer route. I play games that interest me I keep playing them if they are good like thats it period dunno what kind of purpose that defeats but ey I mean, it's indicative of the fact that your taste in video games doesn't really match the console target audience.
Then again, the fact that you're playing an F2P game with graphical tech that's several gens behind is already indicative of that.

A game that can't be played until 3 generations of video cards come out first. Seriously, that game was from the fucking future when it first came out.

The Kinect as an idea is interesting (hand motions on normal games, "XBox, start Netflix", etc), but in practice I have yet to be wowed by it. None of the Kinect "games" are any good imo, and it's really only useful if you're too lazy to pick up a controller and manually select things on the screen.

If I wanted to stand and play a game I'd pop in Wii Sports Resort or smthn

real laziness is going through a lot of effort to not even have to do a tiny bit of work

One thing that I love about Wii and Wii U is that it's very inducive to party and social games. The Kinect theoretically should have the potential to be a platform for great party games.

There was one announced, but I can't for the life of me remember the title. The developers said that no current gen setup will be able to run it max settings at 1080 even, let alone 2560x1440

Honestly "raising a kid" requires more commitment than that entire list and then some on its own.

The last console I ever bought was a PS2 and I only got that because my PS1 broke and I wanted something that could play my old games. Now I can play those on my computer too. I even have a controller! So why pay thousands of dollars on console stuff when you could spend said thousands of dollars on trips to Korea to see girl bands? A lot of people started gaming on consoles, and there's a lot of brand loyalty toward specific titles. Though brand loyalty in video games hasn't been worth a lot in recent years, given how certain brands (such as one that this site is primarily dedicated toward) have not produced games up to par with their previous standards in recent years.
Shots fired pew pew pewwwwwwwww
I'm just curious why there hasn't been some sort of super popular hack/underground thing where you can hook a console controller up to a computer and put in the CD and use some program to just play it off your computer. I feel like it wouldn't be that hard to create some sort of bootable to do that. Obviously you still have to work with the graphical limitations and such of the computer, but still.
I played Dark Souls on console and computer, computer was really clunky.
