What typically makes the main character awesome is all the stuff that goes on around him, take Chrono Trigger for example. Main character has absolutely no personality but everything else that's happening makes up for it. But in FF8 the other characters are crappy too, the story is disjointed, unbelievable and regularly doesn't make any sense, and it suffers the same problem as FF7 where the beginning is too short and the ending is too long. It's got pretty graphics and had some really awesome cutscenes for when it came out and pretty good music, but if you take all that away and look at it in hindsight, the story is just awful. | ||

Did you forget the part of the story where they thought Riona was a witch so they SHOT HER INTO SPACE and then Squall rescued her and they fought rainbow dragons on a pimped out space ship? If you think that's not fucking awesome you need to have your head checked. | ||

I did get lost wandering around the world map in 7 a lot. | ||
