Yup just as I expected, Valve's entire argument was based on a "rage" email sent at an emotionally tumultuous time. I get that they are trying to protect player rights but many times a player's choices are shortsighted and irrational (like the email era originally sent).

The response from the Korean communities has been fierce to say the least due to the following reasons: 1) Why wasn't the possibility of the World Championship being co-hosted released earlier? Even the head of KeSPA, who was responsible for the co-hosting, was unaware that Korea would not host the entire tournament until March, even though only months earlier he had been told directly that Korea would be alone in hosting it. KeSPA ran random errands such as booking large stadiums and halls just for Riot to say they have other plans, and the fans were left no choice but to deal with the let down in a gracious manner. Obviously, that didn't happen. 2) Sense of being not taken seriously. There's a feeling of being singled out, because of all the blatant favoritism Riot shows to Western regions in particular (basically it comes down to whether Riot would have been willing to do the same abrupt change of plans if USA had been hosting it, for example), and many feel like Riot wanted to include Korea as a part of a much larger scheme to expose League of Legends to the Asia-Pacific region, instead of respecting Korea as a legitimate host of the biggest League of Legends show of the year. 3) Round of sixteen not only has more number of games than the tournament brackets, it features more number of teams, and the chance to see every single non-Korean player, as well as all the international players being introduced to the local solo-que scene, which creates numerous potential stories such as Apdo versus Froggen. Now, with only the round of eight teams being available, the Korean communities are saying they might as well call it The Champions Fall Season, with some foreign teams being peppered in. 4) The effect travel has on players. This is quite an important issue that Riot obviously feels can be overlooked for a little more publicity and exposure, and I personally have a huge issue with this. Riot has never placed competitive integrity that highly when it comes to their business decisions, and as such, anything that is "cool" in their minds overrides anything that might actually improve the tournament from a competitive point of view. 5) Finally, Korea has invested itself very heavily into League of Legends in general. With such high anticipation and expectations, what Riot has done to KeSPA, the Korean communities, and the sorry-ass excuse for an apology that worsened the situation, has resulted in having even well-tempered communities like PGR21, having ideas for not only boycotting the competition, but boycotting Riot Games in general. I personally don't feel that bothered since I always felt like Riot's ideas for international tournaments were closer to shows, and publicity stunts than actual legitimate competition that brings out the best possible games. I think there are bigger issues to solve, but the mob mentality here is that Riot Gaming has wronged us, and they must pay. You'll be surprised by how pissed off people are.
