No matter how good you play, protoss has too many insta lose scenarios. Hero outplayed him all game and then he loses a warp prism and isnta loses. Or how many games are decided because zerg get 2 units past the wall? Or a nydus insta kills a protoss, even when scouted, or protoss just dies because they scouted their DTs and put 1 turret?
And lets be honest, Hero is way better than classic, so that doesn't bode well for the Protoss the rest of the GSL.
herO has been "off" in GSL since winning the championship a year ago. He throws constantly, so I'm not sure it's fair at this point to say "herO is way better than Classic". With a bit of bracket luck, Classic could do well. Classic has done better than herO at most offline events afaik. But herO plays in a lot of online tournaments, where he does well, so his aligulac rating is better than Classic.
I think both Creator and Classic have a decent shot to win this GSL tbh, if they can avoid Cure. Every other opponent seems beatable: Dark relies a lot on cheese/allins in ZvP nowadays, he seems beatable, while other players are good draws for the two protosses.

I don't know what the ro8 brackets are yet, but if some T/Z can snipe Cure or something like that, a reasonable path is there. Really this GSL broke wide open when Scarlett beat Maru. Haha!!
Or, <dreaming> a Protoss champion rises up with some new patch saved builds and Classic 3-0's Cure in the next round. I'd love to see it.
edit -- brackets are up, they look decent; Global StarCraft II League/2023/Season 3

great games. super fun group o7

herO is slightly better than Classic in all 3 matchups imo, but the gap is close enough, couple with herO wild style of play, meaning that Classic has a good shot at doing better than herO at any tournament.

As the other guy that quoted you said this is more of a TL thing. Yes SC2 playerbase and viewership is but a tiny fraction of what it used to be but the matches are being played early morning for most English speakers (this site), so you aren't really going to have much action for a Tourney/LR thread.
Me personally I go through the games on youtube after they are played when I have time, occasionally catching a match here and there live - but honestly the vod is better as you can avoid the mid match lulls and advertisements.
As for the games for this group: I think overconfidence got the best of herO. Really sucks to almost take first and get knocked out but trying to 1 base site delta pvp in the last set was questionable to say the least.
I think both him and Maru need to do what Creator did and just take a step back and reconsider their approach for these sets. Too many on the fly decisions that are either just low percentage plays to begin with or simply leave them too far behind.

I think LR thread post volume depends a lot on the players too. Often times we get several pages. Guess it also depends who stays up that night.
