cure dominated that game from start to finish, after game 1 I really thought he'd have a chance..although it was also one of the best terran maps.

cure dominated that game from start to finish, after game 1 I really thought he'd have a chance..although it was also one of the best terran maps.


He dominated the game after Reynor did a massive mistake at the start which he never could recover from, and yet it took Cure a long time to close it out. You could see in game two that Cure had the same "dominating" style but because Reynor did no massive mistake Cure couldn't close it out or gain a big lead. If Cure hadn't lost that big army in the midgame, the game would probably have proceeded even longer but I doubt Cure would have won even then.

It was around 70-80ms ping, which is the same as from France/Germany to NA east approximately

I'm confused why Cure didn't try to go for that lategame split map approach? He's done it in GSL a lot the last year or so, and isn't that Reynor's weakness? I thought surely he would show those kinds of games if he was good at it in GSL.

Because in order to do that, you have to deal SOME early eco damage to Zerg. Otherwise, Zerg will just expand like crazy and crash the Terran 5th base over and over, not allowing them to fully set up the 7-8 Orbital economy while Zerg mining non-stop with 90+ workers. Maru is the only player who I have seen to be able to really get a full defensive setup well enough against such approach, while constantly keeping the Zerg from mining all the base on the map, but even him is starting to be more aggressive these days.

If you play a purely defensive style as Terran, Zerg will have so much more eco they can just crash wave after wave of banelings into you.
Even if you can't do much damage to the Zerg eco in the early - midgame, you always have to at least threaten the Zerg with drops or timings just so they can't go all drones and expand like crazy

But it certainly didn't help that they got an HP buff either. I still remember when banelings were a fun unit because they let the enemy showcase their skill, now i think they produce maybe the worst interactions in the game on the regular.

I wonder if a revert on the baneling HP buff might be good.

It sounds like mech might be even harder to do in LotV because zerg can get that huge eco exponentially sooner, while it still takes mostly a linear time to tech up and max out with mech.

You could storm or shoot down banelings with colossus easier if they had 5 less HP.

I think a couple of change could help, including reducing the Mines blast radius but increase tanks splash damage %. In the early game, against mostly lingbane composition Mines is superior but they suck the moment Hydra/Lurker come out. Having tank deal better splash damage might help Terran to hold their defensive position better, OR reduce tanks build time by 10-15%.

let's make tank all round better, because turtling is the future of RTS games. Then surely more people will play Sc2 again...

Yeah, because Terran never push with Tanks before and Mines are never used defensively, lol. Like I said, just nerf widow mine to make up for it.
