Based on the volume of players we are receiving and the amount of forfeits we're seeing in the lower bracket, the following adjustments will be made to EU and NA qualifiers:
If the participant pool is higher than 32 players, the bracket will revert to Single Elimination to Round of 16, then double elimination onward
Adjustments made to all qualifiers
All qualifying matches will be Best of 5 (Bo5).
These changes will be made effective immediately, with the next qualifier EU Qualifier #2 ()
This amount of forfeits in the lower bracket is preposterous, maybe it's because the qualifiers are played on a weekend evening on EU? It was mainly a korean habit but now it seems to have spread, I sincerely don't understand why even players with a good chance of qualifying from the lower bracket apparently do not care.

If you are referencing EU qualifier #2, please note it is single elimination until the Ro16 - so anyone who lost in the Round of 64 and 32 were eliminated. Challonge doesn't have a really good method to show 2 different formats, so everyone that was eliminated was expressed with a 99-99. It is also noted in the round tab with a ---ELIMINATED---

Ah, I see! My bad then, at a glance it looked like there were tons of forfeits.

Isn’t it on EU server? I am impressed Maru is willing to try to qualify through that way. Seems like it worked though, no idea how he managed to 3-0 MaxPax with such ping

Yeah, Maru qualifying through EU is pretty bonkers. Still, good on Harstem. Seems like he's on the upswing.
Solar qualifying over Rogue and Time nearly qualifying over Zest are big, but not unwelcome surprises (I fully expect Rogue to qualify in at a later event, and hopefully Time as well).
This time change is reflected on TL calendar, challonge, and all TSL 8 threads (Liquipedia update pending). Primary reason for this time change is daylight savings and the duration of EU qualifiers.
Is anywhere the Maxpax v Maru? (or in general Maru's games) Harstem has his commentary and insights from his POV against Maru, pretty interesting. (bellow in the spoiler) + Show Spoiler +

Sorry if this has been discussed to death already, but is there a specific reason Maru qualified through EU? Just for a challenge?

Byun did it, so maybe Maru felt challenged?
On another note, we don't have a single qualified player from NA/ LA yet

Maybe he just doesn't want to go through the gauntlet of good players in the KR qualifers. Just qualify quickly and easily and take it easy for the rest of the week.

The korean qualifiers are pretty empty, it's a bit sad to see, especially the second one. There are only two competitive match to do, sometimes against a C or B tier players (gumiho, cyan, macsed, byul) and another against a top tier one, it would have been a cakewalk for maru. I rather think he wants to get used to play with ping.
Anyway, Vanya beat Solar and Zoun in na to qualify, that's good, spirit did a nice run too.

Gauntlet? Have you seen the KR qualifiers?
It's more of a cuddly, warm pillow than a gauntlet...

This is what you get for having up to 31 qualifier spots in open-region format, like pretty much every player in top 20 would be able to qualify at the end of the day. Like which big name left that might miss this tournament? MaxPax, Neeb and probably Time, and we still have up to 11 slots lefts. The competition among B-tier players will be fierce but thats about it. Maru probably got some plan this week and decided to spend the Sunday sleeping at home after the EU qualifier.

Yeah, MaxPax almost qualified over the Korean qualifier, do it was probably not the hard gountlet Maru wanted to avoid

Indeed the Korean qualifiers are so grueling, Maxpax had to defeat the well known players SeleiXi and ByuL to then face Zoun in the qualifying match. Maru really wants to avoid that in eu
Overthinking, it doesn't matter which qualifier you win so you might as well do a few, no reason to limit yourself to a region.
I guess technically by claiming a Euro spot you make it slightly less likely for a second tier european player to qualify, and the people who come out of the last korean qualifier will probably be easier opposition. But even that is mostly a pipe dream, most of the B team of Europe will just qualify in the american qualifier and it won't change much.

If anything it probably makes it harder for NA Players to qualify in their own qualifier I gues
At this point I'm just waiting to somebody change his gamename into Brrr. And then someone changes into Lrrr, the ruler of Omicrone Persei 8 and we will have the best match ever
