Along with being horizontally compressed somehow.

The last time Trap did that to Zoun, if I could remembered, made me so upset because that questionable pause during the high engagements did change game flow in favors of Trap, he won pretty handily after that. Trap’s one of my favourite players but that really left a sour taste. Yes sometimes pausing is 100% necessary but it can clearly kill someone’s rhythm and mentality.
I’m a terrible player but I definitely find it hard to get back into my rhythm. It’s fine if it’s just sitting and macroing but getting back to speed when there’s loads of action going on is tricky.
I’d assume some players deal with it better than others. Imagine if a football player was played through on goal and the game was suddenly paused for a few minutes. You’ll have some people who make use of the break to compose themselves, but you’ll have some people who would have ran through and scored easily when the game was live going off instinct who will totally mess up when it’s unpaused for their rhythm being broken and instinct and automation being interrupted by conscious thinking time about the stakes and what to do.

some great series today, gg

Pretty good day overall. But would be better if ESL works on cutting down the wait time between games.

ByuN dream is still alive

uThermal last non-Korean in the play-ins. This definitely looks like a clean sweep for KR.

Korea about to make a clean sweep of this part of the bracket.

as usual, besides the same 3-4 foreigners, korea is still better

Given Afreeca didn't issue a warning and replaced I believe both Trap's pc and monitor, seems like it was probably a legit pause.
Also, do people think Trap was so scared of Zoun he had to pull a stunt?

Also, do people think Trap was so scared of Zoun he had to pull a stunt? It can be legit entirely and still breaks can be sucky. You’re in the zone, you’re focused completely on the game and you’re keeping that adrenaline in check. Then it’s a pause and you have 2/3 minutes of ‘oh shit I’m ahead here, I better not choke’ to think about, not to mention the breaking of the rhythm of the game. I don’t think Zoun got the ‘I better not choke’ out of his mind
Trap is probably my favourite player but I’m quite an emotionally neutral guy/not a fanboy anyway. It still felt a bit shitty for me seeing a game’s momentum clearly totally shift based on pauses.
That’s a pause for technical problems though, Byun’s a different case.
Look quite frankly I love Byun as a player and a man but if this becomes a pattern I really don’t think it’s particularly fair on other players. It just doesn’t really add up, I wonder if it’s as much a mental stress thing for him as a purely wrist issue. I mean he’s pretty regular in the low tier online events and I haven’t seen pauses be a factor.
If his wrists are playing up that badly he should take care of his body and yes it’s difficult to not put in that grind if you’re a pro gamer but if you’re requiring pauses for wrist pain in the biggest tournaments then clearly something is wrong there
