That being said it has a certain charm so idk if I mind it not looking the cleanest

I quite like it to be honest, obviously it's kind of silly, but everyone knows the situation. I prefer that than just having the standard webcam for the world final, it marks the occasion.

They should've committed to the goofiness and had everyone wearing those space suits from the early days of StarCraft .

It looks so low budget it really doesn't fit the world championship.

Well Kaelaris is there in person since he lives in Poland, so he looks crisp .
Is there any of the twitch multistreams available? I don't remember what is called, but allows you to watch multiple stream simultaneously on same tab.

ByuN has been losing a lot of TvT recently so not surprising imo. Also I can just already see that whoever wins that side of the bracket ends up in Ro24 group A and that's basically death.

Cyan was actually controlling the end of that game so badly. He was just a moving through bile if he hadn't been just so ahead he'd have easily lost. As it was he still made that game closer than it had to be

Bad luck to the Shopify players in winners
I mean I wouldn't say bad luck. Cyan is meant to be on the weaker end of players in the tournament. To not be able to beat him is at least cause for concern for Scarlett fans.

Scarlett hasn’t been good for a long time so not really unexpected. DRG losing to Has and wrecking my parlay on the other hand is a huge upset. Did he get cannon rushed?

Nope
DRG actually cheesed him in game one then played... interestingly to lose the next two

Generally, I have a feeling that this tournament comes at the worst possible time for Zerg in terms of adapting. And they will adapt in the future, no doubt, because it's definitely not a balance issue, but I'm really not surprised we haven't seen a Zerg winning today yet.

Scarlett has been playing really well the past year, winning DH Fall NA and close to winning DH Winter NA. I'm not worried about Scarlett whatsoever.
It's hard to get results in such a Protoss dominated meta. Protoss doesn't even need to 2sg, the threat of it is enough to gain an advantage.

Not a great first showing after being picked up by rebellion, that's for sure.
Byun's transition from mid to late TVZ game was pretty good. No wonder Serral, Rogue, Dark, Reynor and the rest sometimes could not take the hit when he arrived at this stage.
Also I'm gonna be kind of dick here, but ByuN pausing game midway through is a bit unfair in my book, he's far from the only player with bad wrist and he seems to pull it out way to often.

I think given his history of needing to pause and having some pretty nasty looking wrist pain, you can give him some sympathy. Especially if it's either this or he simply doesn't play at all.

I'm not sure what the ESL rules say about that as a reason for pausing actually. iirc in GSL he got a warning for pausing since only technical issues are considered valid reasons.

Hmm it sounds rough but I think if you can't handle playing sc2 without regularly pausing you shouldn't compete. If it happens 1 time I can understand but it becomes a pattern with him

I'm a massive ByuN fan but I sometimes think he shouldn't play at all until he resolves this. He's presumably seeking medical attention for this issue but a little break over the holidays would have been better.

He does seems to pause only in important matches and never in random online cup, I mean I'm sure it does hurt him, but that's not really his opponents fault.
I guessed the rules should be settled for all players.
The last time Trap did that to Zoun, if I could remembered, made me so upset because that questionable pause during the high engagements did change game flow in favors of Trap, he won pretty handily after that.

maybe in small online cups he just plays through the pain and in important matches he pauses to be able to play at 100% again

Yeah the difference between how Maru and ByuN have handled their injuries is pretty big. Maru basically hasn't played anything since Code S, and even then he switched up his playstyle to just turtle and play slow every game.
ByuN seems to still want to compete in all the online events and keep his usual micro dependant playstyle. Although it's worth noting that outside of injuries you'd still expect ByuN to play everything and Maru to only care about the big events.

To be fair not playing in any event for months on end is basically what Maru does normally injury or no injury.

yeah it's partially I think a component of his style, with a lot of players you can measure who's ahead much more by straightforward economy, with Byun though it seems like if you let the army balance get just barely enough in his favor he suddenly starts taking incredible trades/absolutely crushing with micro more than enough to counterbalance any eco damage he's been taking.

Trap’s one of my favourite players but that really left a sour taste. Yes sometimes pausing is 100% necessary but it can clearly kill someone’s rhythm and mentality.
I’m a terrible player but I definitely find it hard to get back into my rhythm. It’s fine if it’s just sitting and macroing but getting back to speed when there’s loads of action going on is tricky.
I’d assume some players deal with it better than others. Imagine if a football player was played through on goal and the game was suddenly paused for a few minutes. You’ll have some people who make use of the break to compose themselves, but you’ll have some people who would have ran through and scored easily when the game was live going off instinct who will totally mess up when it’s unpaused for their rhythm being broken and instinct and automation being interrupted by conscious thinking time about the stakes and what to do.

Given Afreeca didn't issue a warning and replaced I believe both Trap's pc and monitor, seems like it was probably a legit pause.
Also, do people think Trap was so scared of Zoun he had to pull a stunt?

It can be legit entirely and still breaks can be sucky. You’re in the zone, you’re focused completely on the game and you’re keeping that adrenaline in check. Then it’s a pause and you have 2/3 minutes of ‘oh shit I’m ahead here, I better not choke’ to think about, not to mention the breaking of the rhythm of the game. I don’t think Zoun got the ‘I better not choke’ out of his mind
Trap is probably my favourite player but I’m quite an emotionally neutral guy/not a fanboy anyway. It still felt a bit shitty for me seeing a game’s momentum clearly totally shift based on pauses.
That’s a pause for technical problems though, Byun’s a different case.
Look quite frankly I love Byun as a player and a man but if this becomes a pattern I really don’t think it’s particularly fair on other players. It just doesn’t really add up, I wonder if it’s as much a mental stress thing for him as a purely wrist issue. I mean he’s pretty regular in the low tier online events and I haven’t seen pauses be a factor.
If his wrists are playing up that badly he should take care of his body and yes it’s difficult to not put in that grind if you’re a pro gamer but if you’re requiring pauses for wrist pain in the biggest tournaments then clearly something is wrong there
