I've been cheering for DRG since the beginning of that GSL and I'm elated he pulled off such a run. Still, I'll be cheering for the villain to cement his legacy here. Heart and head Rogue 4-1.
Goddamnit I remember vividly watching the last time DRG played in a bo7 in the finals of Iron Squid II where Life took it after all seven games. Thats about seven years ago now.
And now he's going against Rogue, the current best ZvZ player in Korea. Bracket gods have not been kind with him have they.
Why aren't they doing both semis on one day? I don't think any matches but finals should be held for one day alone. This is quite frustrating we have to wait 3 weeks to get the tournament winner.

2nd semi is saturday, and finals in the saturday after, what are you talking about?
No way Rogue loses an offline BO7 right? Moreover ZvZ is probably Rogues best matchup so this really looks quite one sided. Let's see what DRG can bring with his legendary preparation

Expected a lot of cheeses from DRG as well. DRG has done 7 drones pull against Reynor in the recent Warchest matches but ultimately failed. Scarlett has done multiple times to Rogue, and all succeeded, because Rogue was known to be weaker to any cheese build, so it might help DRG so much.

he probably did that cuz he had a bo7 GSL match in the same matchup to prepare for and didn't want to give anything way

He also probably did it because it had a better chance of winning for his team than playing a completely normal game on NA central where any sort of ling/bane fight is automatically better for the European. Demuslim said one important reason he picked DRG for that ace match was that he had lower ping to central than TY and Zest.
I really want DRG to win here but it's gonna be tough. In terms of the narrative, I'd rate the potential winners of this season DRG > Stats > TY > Rogue

I'd switch DRG and Stats so we finally get rid of Protoss tears

A quick Aligulac check tells me it's his worst match-up recently and he has no particularly impressive wins.

Only in online tours and imo it has looked like vT > vP > vZ for him. I'm pretty sure he said that he considered ZvP his weakest matchup after the Ro16, though, so idk
I love Tastosis but I'm gonna wince so much when they will inevitably begin to re-iterate how these never before seen things have never happened before in this never before seen game with these never before seen gamers who have never before returned to the game like that and never before made such a deep run, etc.

I don't care that Rogue cheesed, but I hate builds like this cos you literally give the information to the opponent that you're cheesing him and are relying on the fact that they won't pay attention to such a random detail. I like a good prep build but idk about this one.

I don't gate the hatred for Rogue, he's the least predictable player out there. Can play like god, can play like he's drunk. Can play macro, can play cheese. And most of all - he's creative (c) TLO

But when Scarlett/Noregret wins with cheese it's ok ?
That isn't what I said is it? Personally I have a respect for what he's doing but it feels like watching a prime-era Mourinho team in football. I'd rather watch a Pep or Klopp team personally.

Yeah but as usual the good match is for the shitty NA time
Now that Koreans have to play in the middle of the night for every other tournament they're in I think it's a good time to kill the early GSL timeslot.

Yeah we schedule everything to be better for EU, can we start scheduling GSL pro-EU?

Exactly this. I am loving the whole Rogue storyline. From a proleague trickster to macro god to steamrolling all the big tournaments giving zero fucks in the process. He just has it all, wins it all, is now one of the SC2 goats and his bad boy vibe and so many TL haters calling him patchzerg and other BS are just icing on the cake.
That said I am hoping for at least some normal games today

Mourinho's Real Madrid ?
When he was at Real, Chelsea, Inter take your pick. Definitely not when he was at Manchester United ;p

It's the least they can do.
Also EU players should be allowed to participate in GSL from home. Games played on NA central for fairness ofc

isnt Sats at 6AM for Eu people?
Yeah, 6 AM on a Saturday. Not popular.
i mean for the last 6 months i've been unemployed due to Covid, but usually the Wednesday slot is unwatchable since in the middle of the fucking day i tend to be at work (and i will be again starting in two weeks)
whereas setting an alarm for 6AM on a Saturday isn't much of an issue.

121 goals in a season, can Klopp and Pep match that ? I don't think so.

If you get up at 6 am every day for work, do you really want to hear an alarm at 6 am on Saturday too?
And yes, the EU time slot on Wednesday is bad for everyone who can't easily watch from work/school/etc.

That's exactly the point. Statistically a Mourinho team is incredible but I still wouldn't choose to watch it as the actual style of play isn't entertaining to watch.

yes. i like to keep an even sleep schedule. i might have a nap after GSL or after my workout which is after GSL.
Wow it was so one-sided except for the last game, DRG never played the way he wanted. Rogue is so focus on mind game he is so good playing unorthodox way or making the right choice. He has good chance to win this gsl as I don't imagine protoss player take him down. May be ty but not sure either
I think Stats will beat Rogue if he gets through TY. He's the type of player to upset someone who is in peak form and he also doesn't care about curses and the like (beat Rogue in Blizzcon, beat soO in ro4, lost to soO in finals). I know that's superstitious thinking but whatever lol.
So I finally got to watch this series. 3 Build order wins and one legit win in the last game.
Some would argue the 3rd game wasnt a bo win but it was. Muta will always beat roach since...you know they can't shoot up, and mutas has so much more mobility. It was just a matter of holding the push long enough to get enough mutas, which he did.
Dissapointing series, but honestly when is ZvZ not dissapointing?
I'm calling it right now, Rogue will win the GSL. Between the great play he's been showing and Zerg being favored vs the other two races at the moment it's basically a guarantee.
I hope DRG can practice his ZvZ and come back stronger next GSL, he already showed his ZvT is top tier.
ZvZ is actually quite fun for a mirror nowadays. Rogue is just too good in bo7, poor DRG never really had a chance and his ZvZ ain’t that good afaik. I did not expect a 4-0 though :o. I’d say Rogue wins if TY beats Stats, otherwise it should be 50-50 between him and Stats. There might be TY up 3-1 getting 4-3ed, Rogue did that a lot in bo5 vs terrans, 0-2 into 3-0...

Idk how you call that a build order win when it was basically a reversal of game 1. The only difference is that DRG died to Rogue's roaches before he could get enough mutas out while Rogue held off against DRG's roaches. I may be wrong but that seems like just skill difference to me. Also DRG was super sloppy with his micro. He lost a lot of units to the spines while just hold positioning in range for no reason. He also wasn't able to keep casting biles on cooldown, getting distracted whenever Rogue sent his mutas across the map.
Edit: I have no clue how to format quotes, sorry I'm new here

Don't delete parts of the quotes? like usually the ending tag?
Anyway, G3 wasn't a reversal of G1, Rogue hit harder and faster IMO. DRG never was able to go up the ramp to kill Rogue while Rogue managed to do that in G1. Kinda showed the difference, 2 similar games with 2 different outcomes.

Difference is that Rogue was much all in in G1, no third and behind in workers. and in G3 Rogue was in 2 bases whereas DRG was on 3 (one being the gold), although same workers for both. The main difference is in execution from both sides, which then you can argue that neither of those is straight up BO win.
