I know Rotti has a thing with being a big believer in specific players, but I still find it odd that he thinks ByuN would be competitive so quickly after returning from the military. Everyone else has needed at least a year to get into shape and ByuN wasn't even doing that well when he left progaming. If anything, a micro-heavy player like ByuN would probably need more time than others to get his hands working well again.

Unlike other military people ByuN didn't really stop playing though. Like Dream for example didn't think he'd ever go pro again after military so he didn't play much. ByuN is using a lot of his off-time in his service to play SC2 still and he's always high on ladder. IIRC his name also came up as a practice partner during this season of GSL.

I mean he's not gonna win GSL in his first season back but I don't think he will drop off as far from where he used to be as other players did.

isn't he like 6.9k on the KR ladder already ?

Man is this just gonna be bio vs LBM every game? I could use a bit of variety.

SoO is such a weird player. Neither his results nor his games ever (well yknow what I mean) look dominant, but damn is he a great player

Yeah ByuN has several accounts at 6.9k MMR and got a job in the military that allows him to go home at night (and practice) iirc. Even without seeing him in tournaments he's probably the best of the returnees.

Oh, I had no idea. If people want to practice with him already that is a different thing entirely. And if he's on 6.9k mmr, that's crazy.

Nevertheless, quarterfinals in Code S seems very difficult in his first season. It was difficult for him even before he went to the military.

I guess ByuN is showing everyone how to handle military service.

yeah I'm pretty confident about ByuN's ability to already be really good when he starts playing competitive again, ofc probably not a contender but at the very least current DRG / TaeJa level

I wouldn't bet on it happening (ByuN in the ro8) but if you tell me that will happen I won't bet against you either
