Introducing the CEA Collegiate Series
In partnership with our title sponsor (Guilded) and incredible support from (Tobi) @ (Shopify), the Corporate Esports Association is proud to announce the Collegiate Series and its premier game, Starcraft II. The Collegiate Series will carry on the spirit of TESPA and offer an all levels outlet of competition for those fighting it out with their academic careers.
The CEA is the spiritual successor of the After Hours Gaming League, giving a platform for professionals to represent their companies in a friendly for-charity competition.
Thanks to incredible support from our partner, Shopify, the CEA is proud to announce that students will compete for $25,000 in scholarships as well as school pride. Integrating with the existing Championship Series, the CEA will be able to offer competitors an opportunity for career growth with industry experts while still in school.
Requirements To compete in the CEA Collegiate Series, players must be full time students in good standing with an active school email. Players of all levels are welcome!
Format The inaugural season will be run as an individual Swiss competition in Best of 5 sets, with the top 16 moving onto a single elimination bracket.
Players will earn points for their school that will go towards a trophy to show off back at their home base, giving all levels of players the ability to contribute for school pride.
Further details can be found https://cea.gg/pages/cea-collegiate-series-handbook.

For those who might not be aware of the college SC2 scene, this spring both Tespa and CSL have stopped running SC2 tournaments, so we all thought college SC2 was in dire straits. This is more than just a tournament, this is CEA stepping in to save a community people don't know much about! Thank you so much CEA, Guilded, and Tobi!
I would love to see more people care about college SC2. There's no better way to get into SC2 than through the college scene. I had played SC2 after each expansion was released, but went back to being a League player after a while. I made it to diamond league back then. Once I started up in college, my school's SC2 team got me involved in the game again. The competition really pushed me to get good and I went from diamond 3 to GM in a year! There's no way I would've gotten back into the game without Tespa/CSL and now it's all I play. So I really believe that going forward, the best way to get new hardcore players into the game is through the college scene. For players who are already good, it's also a fantastic way to get into the competitive scene--competing in tournaments is a different game than playing on ladder, and college sc2 is the perfect way to practice tournament-style SC2.
The scene has a few legitimate semi-pros and dozens of grandmaster players. But the skill level isn't so high that you don't see interesting strategies and styles. Also, the single-participant format will be better for viewers, especially after the Swiss. And you can support your alma mater!
Please Cobravenom, have a weekly college sc2 updates segment on This Week in StarCraft! It would be my dream to bring hype to the college SC2 scene and get non-college students invested!

we've heard the feedback about the top heavy prizing and have added a few more prizing slots! Hope this addresses the concerns! Feel free to reach out to me or any of the CEA admins via discord: discord.gg/cea
