I'm a little nervous for him due to not seeing him much and he was sick for the IEM qualifiers. He struggled a little in the GSL qualifiers to say the least. Hoping he has been grinding the ladder and has found himself again though!

Maru's form in the IEM qualifier was really good. He went 3-1 against Solar and 4-3 against Dear in some incredible games. Hopefully he maintains that level on the new patch

Technically Maru went bio game 1, but I think that was because he god pushed out of his natural so he had access to only 2 gasses for a while.

It wasn't bio < mech. It was cyclones > no cyclones in the early game. BAsically both games can be summed by "keen made cyclones, got lead, won later"

Yeah, I wonder about this too. I remember his play declined at one point when he was having wrist problems, and I think he maybe hasn't been back to full strength since then.

He's been ill quite a few times (or for a long period of time) earlier this year, so that wouldn't have helped.

I think the way it used to be was that if you want to be aggressive, off creep, you get Muscular Augments and if you're gonna stay defensive you get the range.

I mostly felt that way too. But the early game unit comp for Maru seemed to be what really put him behind early on. I'm not sure if that's partly because KeeN knew higher cyclone numbers are just better now. But either way, it's true that Maru wasn't looking good.

My recollection of his TvT always have been taking bad fights even sometimes when ahead. He tries to be aggressive and gets caught in a bad fight and in TvT which when its over 100 supply walking around map in marine tank you can't do that. Reminds me alot of MKP TvT the way he has played it in LOTV

Yes, the "macro" phase was just Maru cutting corners and Keen in the lead.

Maru lost early game but he was the one going greedy, he was getting his 3rd CC out by the time Keen would push with 3 Cylone and a tank or two and Maru would have literally nothing.

This is like saying ling-baneling all in in ZvZ is genius and roach war is bad. I failed to see the rationale here.
Bulky units like cyclone does require good micro to use properly. Similar to setting up good concave in a roach war.

I also don't think Maru is good late game TvT anyway. In LOTV he basically is imo MKP mark II where he just goofs randomly trying assert pressure on the map which is just way to risky in Marine Tank comps. One bad siege / un siege and you can lose the game which is how i reminded myself of the Maru vs GuMiho series last year in Quarter Finals.

That's the point. Maru's lategame is very good but he always goes for coinflip builds (rushes, fast 3 CC) and loses earlygame.
In iem against gumiho, he was fighting well in the lategame, yet he lost the series 3-2. All three loses were due to coinflip openings.

Wait.....Keen won first 2 vs maru because mech is stronger than bio in tvt. what happened in the second set? i didnt see it, did maru go bio again and kill keen before he even had the chance to make mech strong?was maru's multitasking too hard for keen to handle?

Well, I'm not saying he's good, just that there wasn't any real end game  To me it looks that Maru is lost in the early game, but I saw him play 4 games only

That's just not true. Maru's lategame TvT is usually defensive, he basically copied TYs style of holding expansions while sending 1-2 medivacs at a time to harass. What you're describing is closer to ByuN or aLive.

KeeN beat Maru with cyclones (Maru was apparently not producing enough units by being too greedy).
Then Maru proxied two rax reapers two times in a row with KeeN going standard reaper into CC
