Greetings everyone,
As you may already know, World Series of Video Games will host eSports World Championship on Maldives, Oct 5 - Oct 10.
CIS or Russian/Ukrainian Qualification is hosted by UCC - see http://uccleague.ru/#Starcraft2 The winner of this quali will get his full-paid ticket to Maldives so we have really strong lineup of players in this tournament.
The first part of CIS quali is held online. Sixteen players are divided into four groups played by GSL system and two winners of each group will advance into double elimination playoff bracket. TOP 4 of this bracket will advance to the LAN event held in Moscow in the end of September and there we will get our WSVG participant.
All games will be casted in Russian on http://twitch.tv/uccleague. Please PM me if you're interested in casting the event on your language.

Could this be seriously validated? One unambiguously named manager in this page, Steven Leunens, never mentions on his twitter or his linkedin page anything related to WSVG. It does seem related to a company called voobly, though, and in particular the individual named Luis Prata.

Okay.. maybe you should take a second look. Usually those paradises are getting destroyed because hotels and the mass tourism. I watched a documentary and the are sites, of course where no tourist can see it, trash gets dumped. And yeah.. thats how it works.. there is a paradise, people fly over there and contaminate the air, and finally they consume this paradise. I

And yeah.. and the Indian people there get exploited in the hotels.. but enough to be a paradise. Cant understand how people can enjoy something like that...

If I remember correctly there is also an Age of Empires 2 tournament being held there. Since the post above mentioned voobly (Which is the program that many Aoe2 players play on other than game ranger and the steam servers) so I'm assuming it's related to the Aoe2 tournament.

Guys, there are so many questions about this tournament and it's not surprising that everybody has questions. Here are my two cents:
1. I clicked on the "Information" link on their webpage and you need to login to see the location. That is a big red flag there. Location of the tournament should be public and transparent. I don't know why you need to login just to see the location.
If it's held on one of the islands, they have to pre-book the hotel way in advance. Many islands in Maldives only have one hotel on it. It's a big risk for the hotel to offer all their suites to WSVG without WSVG prepaying for the rooms. In addition, I wonder who the crowd would be on an island. All the other guests on the island not attending WSVG are there for vacation - I don't think they would really stay long to watch an e-sport tournament.
If it's on Male (the capital of Maldives), then they have the option of finding hotels and rooms at the last minute because there are many motels/hotels/etc on Male. According to Wikipedia, Male has a population of 153K (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mal%C3%A9). With such a low population in Male, will they get a good turnout for the sponsors of the tournament?
2. I wonder who their target audience is because if they are doing this for sponsors, the sponsors would want a good turnout. With respect to 1., if it's on Male, how good would the turnout be for a population of 153K? And while people from the neighboring islands in Maldives could make their way to Male, it's not cheap and it's time intensive.
If the tournament is held on an island and not Male, I doubt the turnout would be that good at all.
If they aren't relying on a live turnout, their relying on Twitch to promote their sponsor's product.
Anyways, if you're attending this tournament, do your due diligence.

because you only need five Qualifier(NA,KR,CN,SEA,EU) even less
we don't need like Pilipinas,CIS,UAE,There is no SC2 player.
Publicity and Infomation is not enough.
It's very unprofessional.

Unfortunately I don't have any information about other qualifiers as we're running only the CIS one.
