I remember way back on Slayers watching Taeja win his first ESL tournament and thinking 'this guy is playing great'. He went on to win 6 of those offline tournaments with very few people noticing, despite the monster record he posted against some top players.

The guy has passed MVP for me now. They're different - Taeja definitely doesn't have the same set planning skills that MVP did. But his actual skill level has to be higher to me. He's been dominant for a longer period, and he has t shown incredible consistency. In a weekend event, there's no one in the world I'd put ahead of him.

I think they should make grand prize like 10 001 so that Teaja does not win yet another 10k

What. A. Fkin. Bonjwa. Period.

A "bonjwa" that has never won (or made the finals of) a Korean tournament, who plays in arguably the easiest WCS region and who has never managed to win that either. Right.

He might be the best Terran right now and one of the best week-end tournament player ever but he's not anywhere close to being a bonjwa.

Oh stop it. He is still beating those same Koreans that are playing in GSL consistently, and WCS NA is full of good Korean players.

"beating koreans that are playing in GSL consistently"
Like Oz, Patience, Jaedong and Hero?
Sry, but there are 2 groups of koreans right now, the ones that compete in gsl and everyone else.
That doesn't mean that the "foreign koreans" (haha so silly, but whatever^^) can't compete at all, but in general they are worse.

They are maybe a little bit behind, but if you remember, what happened to TY (ro16 loss to MC) , RorO (ro32 loss to Welmu), Flash (ro 32 loss to YugiOh, MMA, getting stomped by DIMAGA in ro64) etc, when they entered the DH, you should see, that this is an incredible achievment from Taeja. Even Life, Inno and co. droped a few maps during their last DH runs.

Noone of them was in code s this season. Also i don't think it is a fair comparison, these guys never had to travel much, i am pretty sure that they would do a lot better if they got more chances.
I mean i think he could compete in korea, but i am pretty sure he would not be extremely consistent.

Stork was in Code S this season. At HSC he lost to Snute, got demolished by Bomber in one of the most one-sided series of the cup, and then lost to Scarlett. Taeja won that tournament as well. I think he is nearly on Marus level atm, maybe not quite there, but at least extremely close.

I was thinking earlier of Taeja's place in the hall of fame of Terrans, he's definitely up there for sure and almost certainly would have him in the top 5 of all time.

In no particular order:
Mvp - Self explanatory
Taeja - Championships with regularity, that IPL TL showing v IM, I also feel he put up decent Korean results in a tough era for Terrans before emigrating.
Maru - A beast who has carried his race's hopes in GSL for a pretty damn long period by SC standards.
Innovation - The previous Terran hope and a team league monster. IMO scariest player ever at his peak.
MMA - For those multiple championships and winning Korean championships alone. Even after that he has slowly climbed back to relevance.

Actually harder than I thought, as it seems wrong to not have Polt or Bomber in there

I don't like MKP so no Facetiousness aside it seems rough to exclude him but I don't know who you could put him in instead of.

Yes there are. You can find them in the op if you open the spoilers under "vods"

MKP has almost the combined earned prizemoney of Maru and Innovation and more than doubles Marus. I think you are a bit biased towards Maru/Inno because of their current success, but realistically putting them above MKP/Polt or even Bomber in terms of overall succes seems wrong IMHO. I mean, Inno hasn't won a GSL either, but MKP has made more finals than him.

Taeja is amazing.
Hero gets pretty destoryed by Code S players right now though. Taeja is still not on Maru's level but it would be nice to see him try in Korea again at some point.
Not much point though when he can just rake the winnings in elsewhere.

Define "Code S level players"

If you mean Soulkey, maru, Zest level of players I would probably agree. But I seriously don't think every code s level player can 'destroy' Hero

When I think of Taeja I always think of a train. Its almost impossible to stop, but a very well placed bump and it totally de-rails.
Perhaps nowdays he is getting more solid, so it happens less often, but I have seen him in some Clan Wars where he lost to some very underrated players, with weak builds.

I saw some of Taeja Games from DH, but I actually went to sleep b4 the finals.
I dont know why but when it gets to this Korean vs Korean slugfest, even thou there is a big price money, it dosent feel much different than watching proleague or code S matches. Well, for me I mean, not saying its the same, just that it dosent feel different for me.
