I wonder if sOs' Blizzcon win was too much to handle for him. I'm guessing he has a lot of pressure to perform from that win, which is evident from his recent SPL games.
the obvious choices to advance are sos and soo but considering the current meta you cannot never count out any protoss. not much recent record on soo's zvp other than a notable win against trap in spl and loss to myungsik

Nah, he has 2-6 with losing to every kind of cheese already :D Including proxy factories on Sejong, DTs on Sejong, in-base bunkers on Belshir and even tons of zerglings on Belshir as well. At least, his losses to Solar showed us that there is smartass Zerg who's like hybrid of MC and Nestea.
It won't be 32-15 from last season i guess, but he will become better and better.
But in individual leagues i don't see anything bad. He smashed his Code A group, he almost qualified for IEM Cologne (Rain, fuck you with your dark templars :D).
soO and sOs to qualify, i don't care who will be first and who will be second, they're both cute and nice <3 sOs 4-1, soO 5-2, ok.
Just can't feel the hype around Code S this season. Like this group, should be "LAST YEARS BEST PLAYER YOOO DROPPED THE OTHERS IN THE WCS FINALS LIKE HE WAS REDEYE HOLDING A CE BOX!" but all I feel is, well, eeeh, it's in Korea... I guess... Not been the greatest of games so far either, guess that hasn't helped.
But hey, at least there's plenty of other places to hope for great games as well.
On paper Code S has never looked so boring . Two random protoss , sOs , SoO .
And one can never be sure, random people you never heard of could bring the best games of the season.

I was going to say the same thing about sOs :D sOs seems to deliver way better in individual tournaments than in SPL where he always gets sniped. Bo1 is too few for sOs's creativity to shine. Bo3 gets better. If he somehow gets into top 8 (got some doubt in that), he actually gets a better chance to win the rest of the Bo5/7's.
Quoting from Scarlett, "Tossimba!" :D All zergies should take the same fate as other Terrans. That's why you get soulkey. sOs and Ruin ftw. Make that 15 + Maru happen!
sOs has the #1 headband! - sOs is at ~ 26.99 %% chances for top 16 points of Season 1 ~ 77.26 % of the time sOs wins and their chances go up to ~ 34.94 %. ~ 22.74 % of the time sOs loses and their chances go down to ~ 0.00 %. ------------------------------------------------- - soO is at ~ 4.70 %% chances for top 16 points of Season 1 ~ 46.59 % of the time soO wins and their chances go up to ~ 10.08 %. ~ 53.41 % of the time soO loses and their chances go down to ~ 0.00 %. ------------------------------------------------- - Panic is at ~ 3.55 %% chances for top 16 points of Season 1 ~ 47.00 % of the time Panic wins and their chances go up to ~ 7.55 %. ~ 53.00 % of the time Panic loses and their chances go down to ~ 0.00 %. ------------------------------------------------- - Ruin is at ~ 0.86 %% chances for top 16 points of Season 1 ~ 29.15 % of the time Ruin wins and their chances go up to ~ 2.94 %. ~ 70.85 % of the time Ruin loses and their chances go down to ~ 0.00 %.
is GSL October 2011 Ro16 the worst in terms of massive representation from a single race in StarCraft II tournaments in Korea? (10 terrans)
Also, what about BW? I was checking Liquipedia and the worst cases were: - Freechol OSL 2000 (10 zergs) - Daum OSL 2007 (10 terrans) - Arena MSL 2008 (10 terrans)
Am I right or did I miss something?
(I just wanna keep record of this in case of a "10+ Protoss Ro16")

I am pretty sure you are correct. Despite the shitstorm around BL/Infestor I distinctly remember October as the most imbalanced season for racial distribution for both the ro32 (20/32 Terrans) and ro16 (10/16)

I would personally love a 15-toss ro16. That would just be too funny. Then maybe blizz would actually fully address the protoss problem instead of dinky little changes like 10 seconds off PO and the recent increase in time warp energy cost, which imo are far from being enough to balance PvX.

Obviously it will be Roro/Soulkey vs Maru in the finals just so they don't have to do anything 'bout anything.
Trying to predict a group with 3 protosses can be a bit precarious, but I don't think that Ruin or Panic have the PvP skills to make it out. soO in first, SoS in second - that's my guess.
Man that shit doesn't look interesting in the slightest to me :'( That's a shame. I'll go watch the last played Terran game. Yes, Reality vs Soulkey. Quite telling.

KT would have fielded 2 Terrans if they had to play more of their line-up, and you can't fault SKT for not sending out Terran when they have Rain/Parting/Soulkey/Classic/soO.

Has the vod finished processing for that yet?
This group looks really meh, combined with the constant sarcastic remarks Tastetosis are using lately I doubt I will watch a lot, probably muted

Oh don't pretend that these matches aren't going to be awesome! If you're not happy, you don't like e-sport, kittens and the sound of child's laughter.

I think we have 13 toss, soulkey, roro and maru in the ro16
Anyway I just checked and 1 of Maru, Hydra, and Symbol have to be in the ro16 so 13 toss, bbyong, soO, Hydra. Hydra gets amazing at ZvP again and suddenly we have a Hydra, Sora, soO, bbyong semis

well yeah maru obviously advances there finals will be roro vs the runner up btw
sOs, soO will advance hopefully. I feel sOs has been crushing in individual leagues. his 35-15 SPL record last season will be even better this season in round 2, it will be undefeated from here on out! Maybe a loss here and there, but still! Undefeated!
sOs will advance in 1st, of course.
soO will advance in second, after some really nice games from Panic and Ruin(who showed in Code A he has some pretty cool builds in PvZ when given time to prepare).
Unfortunately this Code S season has been ruined by everyone bitching about Protoss constantly. I guarantee you if it were Terran, or Zerg, who were over represented everyone wouldn't be saying shit and just looking forward to the good games.

I doubt that. The whine was endless during the BL/Infestor era with people feeling it necessary at every turn to announce their displeasure of each ZvZ final (which were mostly awesome btw).
TvT even caught shit way back in GomTvT 2011 for being flooded with hellions and for its great length. It wasn't always as action-packed as it is today.
Wouldn't be Korean sc2 if one of sOs or SoO didnt get knocked out of Code S so early. They were huge last year. Or watch as sOs smashes through despite going 2-6(7?) in Proleague.

Yeah ppl dont enjoy watching PvP and PvZ so much. Its that simple and isnt something that happened recently. Add to that the fact that many of these players are "new" to alot of ppl in the sense that they arent old esf GSL guys whos style and history you are familiar with and recognize and find some enjoyment watching them even though you dont like the matchups. Alot of ppl will still tune in for the quality of play (many boring games but these guys are insanely skilled) and once in a while you get a entertaining game. One can also take the chance to learn abit more about these guys because many of them are here to stay even if the nerf hammer drops.
But ppl will inevitably bring up how they feel about these matchups when games get boring and they start thinking about what cold have been and how good sc2 at this level can be. And I dont blame them.

Yeah, the whine was damn loud back then too. I doubt it was substantively any different to now.
Protoss should take the hate as a compliment.
(Besides, it may not be for much longer as the race is in the crosshairs of the nerf-gun. Enjoy it while it lasts.)
There's a part of me that wants to see the 15 Protoss + Maru Ro16. It'd be a memorable GSL for sure. Every Protoss just practicing PvP and not so much PvT. Maru can just dedicate his life to TvP and wipe them all.
100% Protoss in Ro16 is impossible thanks to group F. It is also mathmatically possible for no protosses to advance after today's group, but very unlikely.
Well sOs is miles better than any of these on paper? Even with his poor form in ProLeague i would still back him as favorite to take first place with even a 4-0 record.

;o Guess its opinions, i see them still the best of the bunch. I mean as in casting/calling the game they are all pretty much equal, but in the 10minute fillers of games where nothing but building drones/probes/scvs happen they bring the best entertainment to a stream over the others. Thats why i see them as the best, keep you engaged all the time.

The best to listen to is obviously Wolf-Khaldor. They're the only two who engage the LR report thread. Oh and Bitterdam and Tod do it too.
ToD had no choice because he made me make all the threads and i forced him too xD

Wow this just proves how bad PvZ is of a match up. It looks so bad. soO investing in SH to early and Panic randomly out in the map with like 20 stalkers and 8 sentries cleaning house :s
Blizzard need to hurry up on LotV and just remove the SH for that expansion and revisit a unit like the Lurker instead, would be much easier to define yet still give Zerg that kind of option for a stealth unit they wanted to give them >.<

Stalkers do shit to Broodlords, dude, when BL numbers are high. The Broodlings mean they never get close enough. Often not even with a suicide blink. You need Templar and SkyToss to take on a good number of Broodlords.
Locusts are so good and hydras are so bad so nowadays people just skip the hydras and go melee upgrades with SHs to be ready for BL/ultras because locusts don't even need the upgrades, lol.
So this is the first time I've watched GSL live this season. After watching Proleague for a while, the difference made by stronger team colours is enormous. Everything just looks so much better.

Heavy gateway styles have been very popular for like 6 months now, people are still doing that sora-esque style and variations on it.

Most Zergs wanted to retain their souls when playing, but mass Void Rays became popular. And that led them to anger. Anger led them to hate. And hate led them to the Swarm Host.

Haven't we know that swarmhosts are obnoxiously good since a long time ago? Like stephano was beating mc with mass swarmhost in wcs 1.
No one likes playing them though so it wouldn't surprise me if zerg played that style unless they absolutely have to - like recently with protoss styles becoming so tight.

I really hope Blizzard will add locust nerf to balance test map soon. It's just lame to watch someone going melee upgrades and SHs then straight for hive units.

I think it was a development kind of like with the BL. It was good, but since people hadn't figured out the exact way to get to them and how to play with them once you got them they were vulnerable to various counters.
Haha, I remember how people used to say "Build SHs -> lose the game" back in wcs season 1 ^^
On February 12 2014 18:46 Orcasgt24 wrote: How did it take this long for Zerg to noticed Swarm Hosts are pretty damn good vs Protoss?
It didn't take them long at all, however. 1 A lot of zergs hate playing SH oriented styles (who wouldn't) 2 SH is sort of map dependent, they work great on maps where you can control a lot of space from one central position (Daybreak, Akilon, Habitation Station, King Sejong Station, Yeonsu), but are not nearly as powerful on large open maps (Whirlwind, Frost).

I will say that for a game that was swarm host vs colossus deathball that was a pretty good game. At least it wasn't an hour long

I think again, Ruin might have won that battle had he time warp first and done it on the army just as it was moving up the ramp, and then had he focus fired a bit better, zealots on immortals, immortals on stalkers, archons on zealots. I know easy to say as a bystander, but still. Decent showing overall, better then Panic for sure.

I am pretty sure as protoss players get better, they would start using more hotkeys for the units. These things happen way too often imo no whining intended, I just think protoss still has a lot of potentials unexplored.

Unlike Deadelus, there is no simple change you can make to Yeonsu to make it a better map, you'd have to slash tons of the main in order to make it unblinkable but then again the map is so small and chokey in some areas that it lends itself easily to turtle mech or SH play.

Don't forget he like kind of quit the game until like the 1st week of ProLeague where he was signed by Jin Air. He would of been out of practice and then going into week long preparation of all in builds in BO1. He has been practicing with Rogue and Maru for 2 months now and it clearly shows he is getting back to where we know him. Would like to see him vs a bit better of opponent before i say he back though

To be fair most of his PL games involved him getting all-inned so he couldn't really do his weird stuff .
Very, very sexy play by sOs. Hope other players copy this "attack everywhere" style.
That said, is anyone else slightly uncomfortable by how strong the "stronger team colors" are? The archons in particular just look way too red to me. Love the fact that they're using gameheart apart from that, sexy interface.

What about the story of a vampire progamer who can only come out at night, so he can't go to offline tournaments, so everyone thinks he's a hacker? And he has to overcome his weakness to sunlight to play in an offline tournament and it ends with him playing on the beach outside of Busan and he plays such a long series against his archenemy the werewolf that the sunrise is coming up?

Well obviously if he had the money to get a greater spire, upgrade a bunch of corruptors into broodlords and make a bunch of infestors he would have been better off, but that wasn't really an option considering how much economic damage he took.
I think it's really good design that protoss can generate such amazing amounts of pressure that has to be responded to thanks to even just the possibility of warp in, and then if they decide they don't want to commit can just recall away. Really cool to watch

Who voted 5 stars? -.-
Maybe someone who wants no Hydra buff and thinks this game might prevent one.
I don't understand what sOs' goal was. He starts pressure when zerg already has 3base economy so the natural response from zerg will be to mass out roach/ling/hydra, and then sOs never teched to anything that beats it, so weird.

Then sOs would have died just as fast as he did this time around? Im quite sure not a single stalker blinked more than once during that last fight anyways.

I don't think templar archives is that expensive. He could've built it earlier I'm pretty sure.

I think he just wanted to all-in and was to single minded on that. When he realised that he was not gonna make it, he was just way to late on tech. Dont think plan A had a follow up included. Therefore the follow up came way to late (templar tech).

lol Sorry I quoted the wrong post. Wanted to quote the one regardign "imagine hydras with more attack and stalkers with slower blink".
I've seen lots of Protoss hold massive pushes from zerg at their 3rd by getting 3 colossus relatively fast and creating a sim city around the 3rd to funnel the zerg army. A combination of good FF, control and sim city makes pushes, like what soO did, quite holdable. And remember, if soO loses his army attacking into the 3rd and doesn't kill the 3rd or completely reset destroy the army, then he is also massively behind.

Of course you can do but that is quite a different game. sOs went for heavy BS-pressure and had no follow up plan really.
Its like saying "I have seen Terrans hold that Roach Baneling all in when making 10 tanks" in a game where the Terran went mass Marine-Hellion pressure.

I still think sOs could have done better had he just faked that pressure and instead was getting colossus. I think he could have had 3 with thermal lance if he started teching to them just as his first attack was moving out.
my bet is he thought he'd thrown down a robo, then realized he hadnt when it was too late so just threw down an archives to try and chrono storm. No way that game went according to plan.

Of course he could had played the game differently. But now he commited and therefore he had no 3 Colossus with Lance. Simple as that.

sOs really represents the famous quote that the line between insanity and geniality is really thin. One game he looks like a mastermind and the other game he looks like someone who was no clue what the f*** he is doing. Still think he will advance from this group quite easily with a 2-0 PvP.

He had lings in the first fight where he dropped 2 "beautiful time warps" if I remeber correctly. Then soO remaxed on roaches. But however it went it was still a bad composition against what soO had and they were trying to show him as some kind of strategic genius until he just died.

I really don't understand why zergs don't use baneling drops more, they can be very good against toss death balls.
Too slow so you lose way too many resources before even getting to the protoss army if they kite.

Last time I checked the patch notes they are not very good a killing Void Rays, Immortals or Archons.

Well technically the "lings" was acually 30 roaches, but okay
He had lings in the first fight where he dropped 2 "beautiful time warps" if I remeber correctly. Then soO remaxed on roaches. But however it went it was still a bad composition against what soO had and they were trying to show him as some kind of strategic genius until he just died.
I agree on this. They actually called the Time Warps beautiful? I am in a library without sound.
I never noticed your sn had an exclamation point at the end. On another note, I was kinda hoping for an all but one Protoss group for RO16, just for the sheer weirdness of it all.

maybe we need banelings loaded into overlord to be able to explode on air units. that'd be cool

Kim likes to make things go faster. Just wait for an overlord speed buff and you will see beautiful baneling bombs.

The rule isn't "don't balance whine that hasn't been echoed by other people", it's "don't balance whine"
Also the amount of trying-my-best-to-whine-without-explicitly-breaking-the-rules-even-though-it's-clear-my-intention-is-to-whine probably contributes.

I just feel the warnings should be for both balance whining and for balance whining baiting. Like these days when a Protoss players stomps a Terran the threads explode in "Rofl, Terran player is so bad - Protoss is far superior". Then some Terran player baits and says something regarding balance and gets an instant warning. Feels weird.

Yeah, and if Ruin had an HT with his ground army he would have killed the MSC as the army attached the third Nexus and then won the game as he killed the army.

Since when do stronger team colors also color the spell like storm and time warp as well? Maybe I wasn't paying attention but I think this is the case only in GSL.

They use some kind of game altering display, like Game Heart or something. Also displays crucial upgrades are getting finished, etc.

Again, I spotted one of Ruin's Archons derping behind the Immortals not firing any shot till the battle was over. It feels like the guy still needs to work a lot on his battle micro, he made similar mistakes vs sOs.

Well that clearly was not his biggest misstake. Unless you unspotted his Stalker controll G1

Its nice for the Archons I think. Also it actually displays which side that is casting Force Fields and Storms. However those two spells are quite rare in PvP so I guess it more disturbs than helps.

I was referring strictly to this game. Its quite worrisome given that Protoss needs quite a lot of precision regarding their army, especially in PvP, hope Ruin doesn't give up though, he is on IM and they've had a history of developing good players over time.

Well as I said earlier in the thread Ruin displayed platinum level micro today. Might be because he is nervous, but he clearly was nowhere close to the average Code S-level today.

I think it's a new thing in gameheart
Yeah STC is great at first but coloring stuff like storms, forcefields, time warps etc. looks bad. But that addition that shows upgrade as it about to finish is great addition

Its nice for the Archons I think. Also it actually displays which side that is casting Force Fields and Storms. However those two spells are quite rare in PvP so I guess it more disturbs than helps.
I quite like to not know who casted what. It's so funnily chaotic this way sometimes :D
Try turning of all saturation from your screen and you will have a nice mass of BW (Black and White, not Brood War) units to enjoy!

Just got back, didn't see the games, but as you asked.... so I did !
I've always suspected that Gom's awful numetal and christian rock music selection was because of Tasteless. This just gives me more circumstantial evidence

I don't really care about most units, but for some (like Archons) it really looks weird. Agree with you because of that.

Actually, aliens with superior technology winning in the end sounds like a better end for an alien movie than their ship getting infected by some trojan from Earth which completely disables their shields.
Or when they come to a planet with like 70% water and we found out they are allergic to water.
Or when they die to a bacteria despite having way more advanced medicine than humans..

No, at least I don't think so. In fact apart from Avatar, Humans where always portrayed as the heroes, the ones fighting for survival.

Signs was apparently demon aliens defeated by holy water. Not arguing the rest though.

As far as I remember in Starship Troopers they invade the bug planet because bugs attacked first. So again, humans fighting for survival.
I know there was one Twilight Zone episode where aliens come to serve humans.

is GSL October 2011 Ro16 the worst in terms of massive representation from a single race in StarCraft II tournaments in Korea? (10 terrans)
Also, what about BW? I was checking Liquipedia and the worst cases were: - Freechol OSL 2000 (10 zergs) - Daum OSL 2007 (10 terrans) - Arena MSL 2008 (10 terrans)
Am I right or did I miss something?
(I just wanna keep record of this in case of a "10+ Protoss Ro16")
Dunno about BW but regarding GSL october 2011, this is correct afaik. Even worse, there were 6 terrans in RO8 and only T from RO4 (http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2011_Global_StarCraft_II_League_October/Code_S#Racial_Distribution) At the very least it's the only GSL where a race is represented by only one player in the RO16 (Killer representing protoss that is). The thing is these GOM TvT GSL seasons lasted for very long, wasn't like a single season but more like 4 or 5. At that time people considered that having more terrans was normal because they were simply better... Like wtf...
Hopefully balance has evolved and is dealt with faster these days so I don't think the longevity of the terran supremacy in SC2 has a chance to be ever beaten by any race imho. Neither do I want this to happen actually.

Zest was a favourite over Leenock and SuperNova?
Yes Zest and Trap were the favorites and not because they are protoss but because their results in 2013 were much better and Leenock and SuperNova were losing a lot.

In term of favorites/better player winning, it's quite good recently. At least it's less coin flippy than it was. With the MSC nerf, the coin flip is likely to be back.
The thing is these GOM TvT GSL seasons lasted for very long, wasn't like a single season but more like 4 or 5. At that time people considered that having more terrans was normal because they were simply better... Like wtf
The situation isn't comparable to the one we have today. Back then, it was only in code S that terrans were dominanted, and thus a possible explanation is simply variance - either in terms of results or simply a couple of terrans being superior to their protoss and zerg counterparts.
However, for almost 6 months, we have had protoss being extremely dominant everywhere (ladder, foreign scene, korea etc.), which gives us a much stronger indication of a balance problem.

I wouldn't say he is the most talented one, but he sure has potential to become the staple protoss for StarTale. I think he has it in him. Losing to those 2 players is expected. Next season, he might be a greater force to be reckoned with.

In the Starship Troopers movie it's not quite clear that the bugs are evil.
And besides, we all know that in Starcraft 3 the grand reveal will be that the zerg are actually cuddly and friendly creatures that meant no harm to anyone and that were forced against their will to kill stuff thanks to psionic mind control.

To be honnest they were a lot of very good teran at the time ! Not all were legit I guess but still : Mvp, Bomber, Ganzi, Supernova, Ryung, Cliiiiide, MMA in RO16 that was a sick line up.
There also is a lot of very good protosses now, no hate what so ever.

In the beginning of Code S it was also impossible to drop down to Code A. If I remeber correctly you needed to lose in the first round of Code S (be last in your group), everyone else stayed in. So basically once you got your spot it was much easier to hold it than in current format.

Do not remind me about these seasons plz I have had enough nightmares about this year. Uncountarable 1-1-1 any day every day and zergs had no idea how to counter 10 min terran 3 tank pushes...

I wouldn't say he is the most talented one, but he sure has potential to become the staple protoss for StarTale. I think he has it in him. Losing to those 2 players is expected. Next season, he might be a greater force to be reckoned with.
To be correct here the most talanted was Avenge but he retired then goes Pet and then Panic, Zero and Booster unfortunately lack results

In term of favorites/better player winning, it's quite good recently. At least it's less coin flippy than it was. With the MSC nerf, the coin flip is likely to be back.
The same has been said about ZvZ (Idra: "Overlords should be able to teleport to the opponents base in ZvZ) and TvT can be random aswell. All match ups can be when scouting is denied. However, still having a flying 9-vision unit instantly, free hallucination, Oracles and what not should still atleast give some information regarding what is going on on the other side of the map. I find the argument about PvP becoming coinflip so weird - as if Protoss should have free scouting to always be able to make the right desiscions. Its not like any other race have that luxuary. Why dont we just turn of Fog of War in PvP?
See it from the other perspective - every Terran build not including safety vs Blink, Oracles, gate-all ins, etc. is coinflippy because Terran dont actually have great ways to scout all of this. I never hear any complaining words from Protoss players regarding this O.o
I am sure we wont see weak Protoss players taking games from Parting, Zest and the likes just because a vision change on the MSC. The players has to be a lot more even for that to happend. Watching the games today, I can say there is no doubt that the best Protoss players would have won vs Ruin and Panic any day, any week with Vision 9 or vision 14. They just are not at the same level as the top Protosses.

Yeah but balance should be much better today than 2 years ago.
Statistically, it's more natural to have some balance variations on short periods of time. The shorter the period, the more variations in race distribution. From a pure statistical point of view, it is more acceptable to allow these statistical variations on a shorter period of time than on a longer one, as the sample size is smaller. In 2011, you say the game was still young, maybe, but it was also a bigger sample size. Now from a starcraft player point of view, I agree blink looks op on certain maps, and the msc range might have something to do with it. This is correct to deal with the imbalance occuring now, I just wished people in 2011 reacted the same way we do now, not pretending "protoss are just noobs, they deserve to lose"...
The thing is these GOM TvT GSL seasons lasted for very long, wasn't like a single season but more like 4 or 5. At that time people considered that having more terrans was normal because they were simply better... Like wtf
The situation isn't comparable to the one we have today. Back then, it was only in code S that terrans were dominanted
No it was the case for pretty much all the bigger events where a lot of koreans were involved. Even the overall balance chart shows it. Edit : (http://aligulac.com/reports/balance/ -> performance difference).
I was originally going to do Group D too, but I'm too fucked up from constant anxiety and panic attacks, and not having slept since Sunday. Woe truly is me. D:

To be honnest they were a lot of very good teran at the time ! Not all were legit I guess but still : Mvp, Bomber, Ganzi, Supernova, Ryung, Cliiiiide, MMA in RO16 that was a sick line up.
There also is a lot of very good protosses now, no hate what so ever.
Truth is that 10 terran players who were in Code S at some time now play in WCS AM and WCS EU. Moreover all terrans who won GSL now play there + BW teams and last OSLs have lack of terrans Flash, FanTaSy were the ones who get finals but nobody else could make finals. So it is obvious that such thing was going to happen. Just analyse the scene before balance whining this is my advice.

Yeah Kespa's terran problems started already in late BW, and with Flash and Fantasy both adapting poorly to SC2, there's not many terrans left for them. To top it off, almost all non-kespa terran talent simply doesn't participate in GSL. This low terran count in GSL is probably a trend we'll see continue in the future simply because the old Code S players left for EU and NA.
Somehow I ended up re-iterating your post, but I just want to say I agree. :p
There are some potential GSL stars for the future though, like TY. But right now they're not quite there.

You know what happened to those non-Kespa terrans that are in WCS NA and EU that all the protoss claim are the TvP saviors(Jjakji, Polt, Bomber, Taeja)? They were outperformed by non-Kespa protosses that also play in WCS NA/EU (MC, San, Stardust) at IEM and ASUS. You could make the arguement that if we had all the Koreans back in GSL, we would have MORE protosses.

Why are you looking at OSL performance? I think it is pretty much known that being at the top of BW doesn't really translate to SC2. Look at Jangbi, Stork, Bisu. Most of the top Kespa Ps were mid tier at best. Dear, sOs, herO, Rain (who was up and coming I guess) Trap, Zest, Sora. It is successful Zergs that have translated the most.

Certainly the fact that a lot of the good terrans are competing elsewhere is a factor in the fact that we have low terran representation in GSL, I don't see how you could argue otherwise. The fact that protoss is advantaged vs terran is another factor, obviously. We're not saying (at least I'm not saying) that it would be 11-11-10 perfect world.

I am saying that there are just as many good Protoss playing outside of GSL. When Code A was played and hardly any Terrans got in, a lot of the Protoss in forums suggested that if we had Polt, taeja, Bomber, MMA, Jjakji, they would be guaranteed to made code S. Sure Jjakji already had a spot. But as can see from ASUS and IEM, Polt, taeja, Bomber aren't really guarantees. MMA didn't play but I don't think he is guaranteed. And if San, MC , stardust were in GSL, could they have taken a spot from supernova, BByong?
All I am saying if the Protoss are overestimating the effect of Koreans moving abroad in terms of representation. The Terrans abroad might be bigger names because of their previous titles, but in the current meta and form, the Protoss playing abroad can definitely match up.
So while I am not saying we would have had just 3 Terrans if all Koreans only played GSL, but 4-5 is probably a realistic projection.

I was looking at the recommended games polls. This game was a 6 minute PvP where Ruin died to early pressure. You people are salty ^_-

is GSL October 2011 Ro16 the worst in terms of massive representation from a single race in StarCraft II tournaments in Korea?
I'd like you to make the argument you pretend you can make, cause that makes no sense to me.
But as can see from ASUS and IEM, Polt, taeja, Bomber aren't really guarantees. MMA didn't play but I don't think he is guaranteed. And if San, MC , stardust were in GSL, could they have taken a spot from supernova, BByong?
"as can see from Asus and IEM"? Polt won against herO who is Ro16, then lost a TvT. Taeja underperformed against all races so he was just having a bad day. Bomber barely played PvT and won the one he did. You're not doing a very good job of convincing me^^ I think ~7 terrans would be expected (still not enough obv).
Where are the VODs? Why does GOM take so long to put them up. They could learn a thing from Proleague. I paid $5.00 for Proleague and get instant VODs. I paid $80 for GOMTV and the VODs take forever...

They used to be very quick with VODs when they had their own VOD system, but now they use twitch.
When you think of the best Terran's in the world right now, there are almost none playing in Korea besides Maru. Innovation could be considered but I think we know he's not the best terran in the world right now. They are all playing outside of Korea. Yes there are other races abroad, but nowhere near the % of top, top level players from Protoss or Zerg playing abroad. MC, Stardust aren't the best Protoss in the world, Zerg nowhere close to the top level players abroad. So in terms of the % of the best of the best, Terran has by far the most abroad at the moment when considering the best of their race. Maru (Flash? maybe) is the only one really still in Korea right now. Basically all the Terran's besides Maru have been underperforming for a while now. In no way is that the whole story, but it is definitely contributing to the extremely low % of Terrans in ProLeague and Code S.

You do realise that Flash and TY are very, very highly regarded? Albeit they didn't make it to Code S - it really wouldn't have surprised anybody if they had, and even gone onto win the entire tournament - equally the same for Maru.
The other top terrans today would probs be Taeja, Bomber, Polt and Innovation. Jjakji isn't as stronk

There are enough top-Terrans, just not enough place for everyone. At least this season. It's not Protoss's fail or Zerg's fail or Terran's fail. It's just conjucture, not problem of balance or other stuff. I won't be surprised if in the end of season it will be perfect distribution in World Finals. 6/5/5. Imagine what could happen with total regionlock now though
Glad for soO and sOs <3 Ro16 is going to be fierce.

While I say it is true that jjakji is a strong player and is definitely playing well, it is pretty well known that players that participate in a lot of foreigner tournaments do show inflation in their rating. jjakji is playing in a ton of tournaments in europe so his score is rising very quickly. I think he still would have done ok in Code S this season but he wouldn't have been a favorite to win it all imo. His IEM qualifier run was pretty good though

Explanation after the fact. The terrans in Korea are not top players because they got raped so hard by protoss. I would rate TY a lot higher than the players you mentioned but he was 0-x repeatedly by mid-level/code B protosses.

That's my point, even though a lot of the top terrans are not playing in KR, those terrans are still getting outperformed by supposedly 'mid tier' protosses that play in EU. So even if those top terrans were playing in KR, it is no sure thing they would have made Code S. Would there be more terrans representation, sure. Will the effect be as big as most protosses on TL thinks, judging by IEM and ASUS, I don't think so.
It is similar to the GOMTvT days. You could say Puzzle, Killer, MC, Genius were top protoss. But you could probably name 15-20 terrans that are on par with them. There are simply many more top protosses compare to terrans currently.
We will see once the new changes come through, the top protosses will still remain on top but some will fall off. Just like how it was for terrans and zergs previously.

Twitch is fine for VODs, mainly because you can look at "past broadcasts" and stream the whole 3-4 hour set all at once, it's wonderful.
Only downside is the permanently-visible progress bar at the bottom. DAMN YOUUU

I love Yonghwa. But right now by performance, he is probably mid-tier(Code B is a bit harsh). There are simply too many top tier protosses now. Unless your top tier protoss group includes 15-20 players, it would be hard to include Yonghwa.

Where are the freaking vods?! It has been nearly a day and not one video of any games are up. I have never had to wait this long and always watch the gsl the next day after I wake up, and I went about my day and am not home and still nothing...
To all the people posting about "no vods" - I watched the twitch vod yesterday - the whole group C 3 hour vod. I got to it through a user made spoiler free site I found through the GOM forums: http://www.gomtv.net/forum/view.gom?topicid=303127&cid=-1&kind=1
It was slow in loading but came through eventually (I'm in Canada btw).
Didn't want to post the actual link in case its against TL rules or something.

Thank you. GOM seems to be fucking retarded when it comes to getting their VODs ready. I used to be able to watch the VODs hours later on their website, now I have to wait several days. I hate this whole TWITCH partnership. It is making everything extremely difficult compared to their old way of doing things. I much more enjoyed the personalized experience prior to this new partnership.

I guess you can easily get 10-15 players who you can call as top-tier nowdays. For each race. Competition is huge. Probably it's good probably bad, i dunno.

bahhumbug. nbd i guess.
I think they tried to split the video into multiple parts. That's why it takes so long. They could have made the whole video available first like Proleauge does. Instead they choose the hide the original video.

How are you waiting days for VODs? They're up on Twitch almost immediately. Just go to "past broadcasts" and find the whole event there as a 4 hour long video. So easy.
