3-1 for Humble Kingdom, agree with Trap > soO. But might end with 3-0 even but i want to see Soulkey-Squirtle and ace if possible :D Really curious who's gonna play ace match for SKT when they're so stacked.
I can see IM winning this, would be kinda cool if IM would top the first round and get a sponsor out of that. If Parting loses the PvP IM will win this before the ace match, nkay!

Yep, it did change. The regular season will be mostly Bo5s, except I think for the mini playoffs at the end of each round to determine the Round Champion.
Do hope IM get owned, not because i dislike them but due to i hate seeing same faces every game for no reason at all. IM have a great squad, use it! Squirtle and YongHwa are not good enough to be playing every week, ByuL has thus far made a stake for being in their every week which is fine, but id much rather they played some different people >.< Not just Hero or Trap play each week xD

They used to have a great squad but not anymore. They lost three key players and Mvp/Nestea probably doesnt practice a lot nowdays so their roster is pretty weak.

No cuz its the 3rd game for these two teams. They have both made one change to their line up in 3 games which is strange. Early on in this HUGE long league is where you want to give people booth experience etcetc. Not in the later rounds where every win is crucial to get those valuable play off spots.
Also yeah SKT T1 are doing the same thing but i don't know how good their players are in SC2 apart from the ones they use a lot. I know MVP could quite easily still do a job in a BO1, i even think NesTea could. Then Ruin and UngNim also could get a game here and there to bring on their careers xD

Player level isn't that much of an issue in a BO1 though. We see people we don't expect winning in BO1s due to build order loses. Plus it's not like one player could play every week you don't think WILL win unlike a PartinG Soulkey etc who are always favorite to win xD

I think you are over thinking it here. IM are probably sending out the same players because 1st, they are the best performers in practice, 2nd they are beasts in team leagues 3rd, the maps are such that they consider sending out terrans to be bad.
I have no idea how you can say that YongHwa and Squirtle are not good to play every week either. Both are beasts in team leagues, and Trap has been a staple for STX and for SouL, Byul has been a monster. Heck they fielded HerO on their fist day, give it time.

Squirtle and YongHwa are both 1-1 in 2 games in ProLeague, but its the manner of those games. Squirtle vs TerrOr was a game where he nearly lost due to being so poor. He let mass muta nearly beat his pure stalker army from 3 base due to not making a temrplar archieves. He then lost comfortably to Sniper YongHwa lost to a cheese in a PvP where he made some strange decisions in a cannon rush game He then won with some extreme cheese everything proxy build vs Keen xD
Can't see neither of them look amazing after the two performances they have shown. Also Team league vs playing in Pro League is very different.
And you can add this game to list of YongHwa's 1-2.
PartinG vs YongHwa Game 1 Bel'Shir Vestige LE PartinG spawns in the 5 o'clock position. YongHwa spawns in the 11 o'clock position. Both players go for same standard double gas opening. PartinG goes Stargate, while YongHwa going DTs. PartinG scouts the Dark Shrine with an oracle and defends the dt warp in. The SKT protoss has a supply lead and is slightly ahead in tech. YongHwa going for Robotics Bay, PartinG opts for the Templar Archives. PartinG takes his third, YongHwa getting more and more colossi. PartinG moves out, takes out the MSC with a feed back and cleans up YongHwa. Both nexi are taken out and YongHwa taps out. SKT leads 1-0!

On January 06 2014 20:52 isaachukfan wrote: Parting and Yonghwa reminding us why PvP is stupid....
PvP hasn't been stupid since Hots was released.
PvP is extremely coinflippy and this game is a great example of that. Going dt/robo before nexus can't punish and kind of greedy nexus like what Parting did, and after that his early game advantage was too big.
Yonghwa shouldn't have done an overly safe build against a superior player and possibly missread parting's build after not scouting the second pylon and expecting some kind of proxy oracle/3gate allin build, but either way he was pretty dead after his dt didnt do anything and parting had such a faster nexus.
That said, this is just with crazy perfect execution. The average ladder master or gm player in parting's position probably dies a horrible painful death to the crazy fast dt.
On January 06 2014 20:57 ottosec wrote: That was really bad scouting from Younghwa, if he scouted the SG, he could have easily started blink and would have a build order advantage.
You can punish stargate with dt's just as easily if their oracle is out of position while he's doing some kind of 3gate stargate timing. He definitely should checked behind the minerals tho.

Nope, if you don't have the massive anti-armored DPS of voids then its futile. Tempest are to chip away at the zerg and force him into a unfavorable trade, but if you don't have Voids then he will just trade a lot better.

Well, let me get this straight, if you play Swarm Hosts behind Forest Spine, they are boring and they are not different from old Infestors. But if you play them offensively, constantly repositioning them and kiting with them, they are amazing, and they require the most skill to use out of all Zerg units.

Ok, I kind of understand that, but. You could do the same with Lurkers and more, like setup sick ambushes, cut off retreat paths, as well as do sick defense.
That's just me, back on topic. I hate how Byul is handling this, he should have dedicated some more to defending his bases, some spines, a couple of lings, no need to lose economy at all.
Is it really good to get colossi vs swarmhosts? I know they help against the locusts, but when you play vs swarmhosts you actually want to avoid the locusts, no?
Shouldnt the resources spent on colossi be rather spent on more other units like tempests, void rays, templars?
Ok, Byul should definitely have made a Nydus network at some point and move some of his eco to the Islands, now when Rain can't assault them any more its a brilliant move.

Rain vs ByuL Game 2 Outboxer Rain spawns in the 11 o'clock position. ByuL spawns in the 5 o'clock position. Both players take their naturals. Zerg takes the third. ByuL scouts Rain's stargate. Lair and roach warren for ByuL, robo and forge for Rain. Supplies are very even, 4 phoenix poking around ByuL's bases. Rain takes his third and goes into colossi tech, ByuL gets his spire up. ByuL goes for a bunch of mutas and corruptors. He hits the main but is deflected by nexus cannon and phoenixes. ByuL gets 13 swarm hosts instantly and opts for the late game. Rain tries to attack but gets chain fungaled and has to recall out. Rain denies the zerg's fifth, 8 brood lords coming up. All Rain's void rays get chain fungaled and lose like 8-10 void rays. ByuL has a huge bank and is moving out on the map. Rain does a lot of damage with a stalker/zealot force in the zerg's main. Rain catches a bunch of high templar with a fungal and moves in. Rain has a big stalker colossi force and tries to snipe off most of ByuL's base. ByuL catches Rain's force and takes out a bunch of stalkers. 150 supply to zerg to 91 for protoss. Both have started new bases but are very low in minerals. ByuL finally catches Rain and wipes him out. IM ties it up! 1-1!

You really shouldn't compare Swarm Hosts with Lurkers. Even though they both need to burrow for them to be able to "attack", they have completely different role. Lurkers were my favorite SCBW units and I really like them, but there are also advantages of the Swarm Hosts that Lurkers don't have, like range, being able to "attack" and reposition, something Lurkers can't do, they also create a wall of Locusts and it is quite hard for the enemy to get to them and rest of your army etc.

I guess it was badly phrased, the 1st is the legendary Terrans, the 2nd is both refusing to use them.
I think IM has a decent shot at (at least) forcing the ace match, I favour Trap over soO at least, and Soulkey is underperforming (Though Squirtle isn't too hot either).

I have given up on disbelieving in Mvp ever since his miracle run in 2012 and he reminded people of that again in 2013 by winning WCS EU S1 and his amazing comeback vs Innovation. As for Fantasy, for better or worst he did make it to Code S and produced some nice games.

soO vs Trap Game 3 Frost LE soO spawns in the 1 o'clock position. Trap spawns in the 11 o'clock position. 9 pool for soO. Trap goes for gateway first and deflects the 6 lings with good micro. soO gets his natural up and so does Trap. Trap goes stargate, soO goes into a roach warren. Oracle is out and darts into the main base killing 6 drones. Robo coming up and another oracle is made which kills another 6 drones. Trap traps a couple of roaches but ByuL takes a supply lead again. soO snipes Trap's third and goes into swarm hosts. Trap goes for a zealot drop but is stopped. Void rays coming out for Trap. soO caughts Trap's army but does not respect the void rays. Trap denies soO's fourth with a zealot drop. Trap takes a very bad fight and takes a 90 supply deficit. soO pushing Trap's fourth and takes it out. Zerg deathball pushes on and Trap taps out. SKT leads again 2 to 1!

I don't understand why Trap didn't eventually decide to not have his army in bad positions, he nearly got caught out of position so many times with random parts of his army, yet he kept moving it so badly around. Ah well.

Yes, as a player of you being in an ace match nets you points and winning the ace match nets you even more points

yep, best case scenario
So I have to cheer for my team captain to lose.
What's even worse about that, is that I had Squirtle but traded him :v

CatZ was pretty vocal yesterday about Wolf's game analysis.
And for good reason. Steven says a lot of stuff that may be controversial, but he's dead on when it comes the level of casting in general from non pro players.
This is a bad day for my FPL. Rain on my team, ByuL anti(yeah, I know, it was HUGE mistake) and now Squirtle(on team) against SoulKey Though I still hope / Squirtle!!!!

Nothing wrong with the build. Terrible execution. Just needed a sentry or 2 at home to stop the ling counter. And execute the attack without the weird ff's and initial move command.
Soulkey vs Squirtle Game 4 Yeonsu LE Soulkey spawns in the 7 o'clock position. Squirtle spawns in the 1 o'clock position. Standard openings, both naturals are being taken. Squirtle goes robo, Soulkey takes his third. Squirtle looks to do a timing attack with immortals but is being indecisive. Squirtle attacks and fights on the roach force. He gets in the main but is cleaned up. Squirtle pulls his probes and goes for a last ditch effort. Soulkey stops his and SKT wins 3-1 yet again!
I really get to believe I curse every protoss I watch (except in mirror)... I swear I have only watched protoss losing for like the 20 last games with P.
Interesting statistics: In Proleague, not considering mirror matchups, Terrans have won the last 8 games (1 in 256 chance, assuming 50% per match) and PRotoss have lost the last 10 games (1 in 1024 chance, assuming 50% per match).

That makes me want to go to South Korea asap. It's actually pretty cheap to go there from where I am, often cheaper than traveling inside Japan actually.

At least put the sound to us, even its only on korean. Hearing only the feedback on the hall through caster's mics plus only the drums background music is kind of annoying.

That isn't so unusual, you can have ridiculously long losing or winning streaks as well, just because its a 50% chance doesn't mean it can't happen. That's why statistics get more accurate over a huge sample size and a long period of time

I will be studying in Japan this year, I heard it is really cheap to go to South Korea, do you have some numbers about that?

The meta changes tend to favor these streaks too. Overall the game is balanced, but some change in the metagame will make it imbalanced in favor of race A for a very short period, until it stabilizes to a balanced state, and then bounced back to a be imbalanced in favor of race B (I wonder if I'm clear enough). 50% isn't true if you look at short periods of time, as the meta constantly tends to "favor" one race or another. It's a bit like the difference between micro and macro economy if you see what I mean. + Show Spoiler +

PM Dinotramp about it.
Careful with that, some streamer dude might say with a straight face it still is a sign that Protoss is OP and Terran is weak.
Except Rain, pretty much expected results I guess. It's like SKT is making one of their favorites lose a game each time just to give the impression they are not that dominating. :p

I think it's like 30000円 for a week end with hotel and plane included. I'm checking on HIS right now.

Hmm, I see, but you mean Seoul right?
Yes. Well in HIS it's more like 40000-60000 yens/pers. But HIS isn't really cheap, it's usually quite comfy hotels (and japanese standard for comfy is high). I think you can find weekends for a cheaper price. My gf confirmed you can sometimes find it for 20000-25000 yens. So it does vary a lot.

I think seeker used to translate them, perhaps there will be some, but there were none last round.
We didn't have any translations for last season(s) of WCS either, unless Seeker regains his passion or we find a new translation bonjwa, we're out of luck with regular translations :-/

I haven't received any PM's, it's very interesting.
I understand the reasoning. I guess I still like Prime more than other teams but it's not the mostly terran line up I really loved back in earlier sc2. Keep wishing to see ByuN play and I like Creator. Don't really care that much about TerrOrble, Kal, and those other guys. I guess I'll keep cheering for them and maybe they'll become more likable.

Yeah, it's the same for me. Prime without Terrans is a bit dull :'(
