The point is that JD already proved that he can beat anyone (by beating Dear, the best protoss atm), so why would it be a surprise that people pick JD to win over Maru. Different race, sure, but that doesn't matter.

Dear is a player who is incredibly good, perhaps the best in the world, on waiting for his opponent to make a mistake and then capitalize on it. Jaedong is a player that, for all his brilliance, can sometimes shoot himself in the foot with the occasional sloppy misstep. To simply discount the moments where Jaedong made mistakes and Dear capitalized as not being reflective of their skills doesn't make any sense. like incontrol did. i was joking

What an incredible success these finals have been for Blizzard. And what a fantastic rebuttal to all that silly "SC2 is dying" negativity. The stream yesterday was at 125k viewers, and that doesn't even count the Blizzard stream numbers we don't have. That stacks up nicely with the most watched tournaments in SC2 history--and perhaps more importantly, the level of play has been incredible as well. Just a fantastic showcase of SC2 at its best.

We have almost all the upsets that could possibly happen in the first round and second rounds. Really anyone could win. I just hope its a Terran since its my new race ![]() what? there was 1 upset in the ro16. ro8 you could argue for 3, but overall that still isn't THAT many. that being said, Bomber wins this.

Well you can't exactly judge the survival of a game off of one event, you have to look at yearly trends to really judge whether its getting better or worse. I mean this is clearly the premiere event for SC2 so its not surprising many would tune in. But will it last as long as BW did? I wonder. Anyway I agree that its not dying at all. It at worst will plateau at a lower level of viewership compared to other games like LoL etc.

sOs vs Polt was a toss-up, could have went anyway. Maru should've beaten Duckdeok, but Duckdeok is actually much better than anyway gave him credit for, so in retrospect that was also another 50/50 series.

Mvp was not in his top form, so not much of a tell there. (Even those games JD shows absolute domination.) It is really all up to how good JvT is now. If JD really fixed JvT and feels confident in the matchup, he will win it all. Taken into Jaedong's work ethic, determination. He tends to fix his weaknesses. That is why the Tyrant will edge out against Maru. That is why I would bet JD to win it all! It is also a really important fact that there are not much "solid" games of JD's ZvT. His opponents cannot study his style at all!

But I guess the upsets were significant enough that the number doesn't matter too much. Who really was predicting Jaedong would beat dear of all people, or bomber beating soulkey, or duckdeok beating innovation? I don't think you can reliably predict anything after seeing what happened yesterday.

It at worst will plateau at a lower level of viewership compared to other games like LoL etc. Everyone talks about how big TI3 is for DotA or how huge Worlds was for LoL. If we'll compare, can we at least be consistent in using only "standard" tournaments or only "huge" tournaments?
