Quite interesting, really. Its just so much better against drops, it sets you up for the lategame better than colossi openings, and while its not quite as strong in direct engagements in the midgame as Colossi, the ability to morph archons does mitigate the lack of aoe while you're teching to storms, and if you're super gosu about it you can pull off stuff like storm drops. Its just a much more flexible tech path. It also lets you get superior upgrades. The most crucial advantage is the mobility. To be able to use the robotics for other things than colossus also is very nice.
Agreed.

If Dear just played a solid abc macro game he could have beaten Jaedong for the last 2 games he played. I don't know why he threw it away like that.

please jaedong win the damn tournament

I'm rooting for Jaedong with all my heart but his games with dear were way to close for me to have confidence in him.

Dear is amazing too, so no hate.

Jaedong sOs would make me super happy.
Make it happen, Bomber and Maru.

I wouldn't watch a TvT final. Either of the other two possibilities (Jaedong vs Bomber, sOs vs Maru) would be ok. Maru against Bomber could produce the highest-level TvT in the history of SC2. That's worth watching, no? proxy marauder against 11-11? proxy marauder against proxy marauder? We have seen this already. A strategy doesn't indicate high-level thinking or play. Thinking dictates strategy, and there's a huge difference between proxy marauder and proxy marauder because X, Y and Z. When Idra went back to GSL, he was in a group with Nestea. He got 0-2ed. You could think of it as a 14-pool against a 10-pool and a 10-pool against a hatch-first. But then you miss out on the point of that series. Nestea was so far in Idra's head he could finish his sentences. You could also think of Jaedong against Dear, game 5, as a failed Gateway all-in. But why be so needlessly reductionist? If we go by this logic, Soulkey vs sOs in GSL semis was great series. Yes, it was. That was a terrible series. I don't agree. If any of those cannon rushes had been "what the fuck, I give up", then I'd agree with you. So you were okay with the 4 games where sOs said to himself, He couldn't possibly be going mutas again!!!!! Pretty much. It wasn't fun to watch, but that's what happens when one player is way ahead of the other mentally.
Still 4-3, and then sOs won the match the week after. Not that mentally ahead.

He can beat anyone, even if on paper Maru is the better player. Just like on paper Dear is/was the better player.

It will either be awesome or unspeakably lame.

Part of me wishes that they had made this a double elimination tournament. Getting just three games from someone like MVP is unfortunate, even if he's not in top form. Same really for everyone who was eliminated in the first round.

Things change in the course of a series, and players can make adjustments (or not make them). The first three games of that series, Soulkey had a pretty solid advantage over sOs.

On paper I'd say Jaedong is the better player

I strongly disagree with this. Dear is a player who is incredibly good, perhaps the best in the world, on waiting for his opponent to make a mistake and then capitalize on it. Jaedong is a player that, for all his brilliance, can sometimes shoot himself in the foot with the occasional sloppy misstep. To simply discount the moments where Jaedong made mistakes and Dear capitalized as not being reflective of their skills doesn't make any sense.
