Snute <Neo Planet S> INnoVation HerO <Whirlwind LE> Nerchio TaeJa <Akilon Wastes> INnoVation TaeJa <Bel'Shir Vestige LE> MMA TLO <Derelict Watcher TE> Bly Ret <Newkirk Precinct TE> ParanOid
I really don`t know why TL did choose those matchups. I am fine with HerO against Nerchio even though the polish zerg is truly capable of winning. Why not send Taeja against Bly and MMA and after for that Snute against another foreign zerg (paranoid). Just let TLO and Ret do their best against iRobot and take what you can get.

I feel like Liquid definitely has the upper hand in this one but it should be a really interesting and close finals. Good luck to both teams!

Nooo MMA being made to play yet another TvT against Taeja of all people
That aside, it's going to be a great match! Hope it goes to game 7

I am kind of surprised at the decisions of Liquid.
Snute against innovation and Hero vs Nerchio is not as surprising but i didn´t expect that they throw teaja against innovation.
With this draw it is possible that liquid faces a 1-3 situation with TLO and Ret left and two zvz with the master of randomness, Bly.
What could be interesting is the potential ace match. usually you would expect Hero vs MMA but it is Star Station so Acer could try a gamble with a zerg which would be a huge coin flip because of HerovZ which looks top notch right now.
In the end it will depend on MMA and Innovation, if Innovation loses a map against Snute or Teaja and we are going 2-2 in the 5th map i dont see acer winning.
4-2 Liquid

The ZvZs could go either way. If it comes to the ace-match I think HerO would be the favorite to take it. HerO SLIGHTLY over Nerchio? He's going to poop all over him. HerO's PvZ is on another world. Nerchios best matchup is zvp though
It's by far his worst statistically. I just looked it up on Aligulac.
HerO is heavily favored against Nerchio. If Taeja beats Innovation then I don't see Acer taking this. But the prospect of a HerO ace match (where he'd be favored against whoever is chosen to play, likely MMA) is getting me SUPER EXCITED

Hrm... I think this will be either decided in those 2 foreigner-only zvzs or it goes to the ace match. I don't see Snute winning vs Innovation (although I'd love too!), HerO is probably going to win, and I think Taeja will win ONE game of his 2 tvt's, but not both.

I think we need more trash talk in Team Leagues. Not "it will be a good game" more "pff Hero easy..."

A lot of pressure on Taeja here for sure. Without him taking atleast 1 win this is going to be hard. TLO/Ret vs Bly/Paranoid can go either way, Innovation shockingly favoured over Snute and Hero over Nerchio.. If it goes to the ace match Liquid probably gonna go with Hero, no Innovation to stop him and even though MMA is now kind of good against Toss, Hero is still to good. Gogo Liquid 4-2/4-3!

This draw really shows us that Team Liquid really needs another top terran or toss in their lineup. I am really frightened why they send another foreign zerg against innovation but after thinking about it for a few seconds i`ll have to admit that they have no other option as you don`t want HerO to face him (or Taeja twice). Its just that i would have put Ret against him, so that Snute could get another ZvZ.

Well, it could be that Snute has a sickening snipe build prepared for Innovation. Guess we'll have to see :D

I already thought that right before their matchup in the semi-finals but everyone knows how that went in the end....

Close finals, will likely go to 4-3 . The question is, can Acer use INnoVation as an ace when he already plays twice? If so then probably Acer will take it, if not then they have to send Nerchio/MMA in which case I give the advantage to TL.
Great matches incoming!

This is no real question. We have already stated a couple of times that you can`t use players for the ace match who have already played twice during the first six sets. A possible ace match would be HerO vs Nerchio/MMA.

Really looking forward to this, wish we saw more stock put into teamleagues outside of Korea

Should have just sacrificed two people to inno and then get the higher chance wins ._.
anyway gl TL!

I think people are really underestimating how good Liquid picked the draws. Snute <Neo Planet S> INnoVation INnoVation will win, there is no other outcome. With that said I have to think Snute will cheese with a fast Roach/Bane all in. It's also on Neo Planet S so you don't have to scout to cheese, heck we may even so like 10pool bane allin. Score 1-0 Acer
HerO <Whirlwind LE> Nerchio HerO should win easily. HerO is an emotional player, which is both good and bad, but he has been looking stupid good in PvZ. There was a reason he was rookie of the year in Proleague. Score 1-1
TaeJa <Akilon Wastes> INnoVation This looks like it should be close but I don't think so. Reason 1: INnoVation looks week in TvT. His recently he lost to Ryung, Taeja, and Heart. While Taeja has lost in a close 5-2 to Bomber who has arguable the best TvT in the world. Taeja also has the best Bio vs Mech in the world and given the map INnoVation going Mech would be standard. Score 2-1 Liquid
TaeJa <Bel'Shir Vestige LE> MMA Taeja wins for all the reasons above, also the last few time they have battled Taeja has come out on top. Taeja also has the second best Bio Tank play right behind Bomber. Score 3-1 Liquid
TLO <Derelict Watcher TE> Bly I feel like TLO has played better then Bly. In the Past TLO has beaten very good Korean Zergs. But It's a ZvZ so flip a coin. Also Bly is good and has a lot of Zergs to play with(scarlet not being one of them right now, come back soon!) Score 4-1 Liquid wins, but it's a ZvZ so maybe not.
Ret <Newkirk Precinct TE> ParanOid This match feels like the other ZvZ. Ret is once again playing SC2 and is excited about his new hotkey setup. And I have no idea about ParanOid except that he is not as good as Bly. Score 4-2 Liquid.
Ace Match: HerO <> MMA HerO wins the last few times these two have meet HerO has won easily. MMA has not looked good in TvP now or really ever.

anyway gl TL! I dunno, if they sac two people to innovation, then they need to win all of their other games. Paranoid they can probably deal with, but Nerchio can take a game off of anyone, MMA can take a game off of anyone, and Bly is the king of random. Like...all three of them would be predicted to have 20%-30% odds I guess, but needing a 3-0 is still rough in that situation. (And even if you throw Hero, Taeja, Taeja against those three, that leaves Snute/Paranoid, and Paranoid has a nonzero chance of winning that; he did beat Revival to close out the series against EG).
The way they've done it is fine. If Hero wins, and Taeja wins two TvTs, it's very unlikely that they lose. If Taeja wins one TvT, they still have a very good chance to take it to the ace match, where they should be favoured.
|
Although...if there is a mistake in TL's lineup, it's that putting Taeja into two TVTs means that Innovation and MMA can practice against each other, discuss Taeja's replays with each other, discuss builds to counter Taeja with each other. If Taeja goes 0-2 suddenly things look extremely rough for Liquid.
