I'm not hating on MVP, but a regional tournament needs to be region locked. Well you know what's going to happen with region locks right... every region outside of korea will immediately become irrelevant, because you may get 5 europeans representing europe but they are going to get butchered in the world finals. Allowing people to play wherever makes the thing competitive. Who cares how they do at the finals? I was watching WCS EU to watch Europeans play starcraft. The only reason I watched the finals was to watch a European player defend his region, and it didn't happen. I love MVP, but he shouldn't have been in this tournament. This is Starcraft... you should be happy that a European made second

No is just not him. If we have taken Stephano out of the final and Forgg was there I'm 100% certain there wouldn't even had been 50% of the viewers watching. The fact is WSC EU get more viewers then any other region. Just look at NA WCS 20k viewers tops. Most fans don't give a shit about high lvl starcaft. Shoutcraft NA got more viewers then WCS NA.
ESL should really thank Stephano

I dont mind a korean winning WCS Europe because its MVP and it was an awesome tournament, but I just cant see WCS America being half as good.

It did determine the best player " European " player, Stephano, seeing as he took everyone else and forGG out.

Thats a way to interpret what I said lol. A more likely thing to extract is that it's pretty funny that when the tournaments are named the way they are, a korean can become the best european player, a european player can become the best of america and in theory an american player could be crowned the korean champ. That is sort of backwards. But I'm not complaining, we've gotten really awesome games out of it.

Allowing people to play wherever makes the thing competitive. Not really though. If the money that goes into esports in the west is all sucked up to the east, there is a lot less incentitive to actually get infrastructure up in the west to develop talent. I personally don't think they should region lock it by nationality, but rather by what scene you contribute most to. Fx. Polt contributes pretty much exclusively to AM now, so I feel it makes sense he's locked to AM. Same with ForGG for EU, he's only playing in EU right?
That means for the AM and EU money, these players need to actually be contributing to those regions and with that raising the skill level of those regions.

Stephano played really bad in the last game. At best 3 supply block before 10min mark. More than 1 minute supply blocked for sure.

People complaining WCS EU having korean, when the purpose of not having region locked just means that WCS EU is not about nationality but just 1 of the 3 way of going into WCS WORLD....

The solution is obvious, allow people to play wherever but make it so that they need to be a permanent resident there, contributing to that scene. None of the "I'm comuing over from Korea for 2 weeks to get my prize and go back", because it still leaves everyone except Korea irrelevant.
In fact I'd rather have a shitty NA scene region locked because even if they get rolled in the global finals, at least they would have their own major finals that would give them incentive to practice.
