He did all in a lot of the time (seeing what happened in game one, we might understand why), but the different build and the order he played them was very neat, he did not work but it could have, even if Innovation is a better player overall. The way he played around the different roach timing, roach drops, baneling bust that requires different response, and the final game I think he planed to do a fake drop roach and bust the front, it was an awesome idea considering what he has shown the previous game. It felt like Symbol tried a macro game, then realizing he couldn't win that way, went full YOLO. I hate that mentality though, I mean a few allins hear and there is cool, but if all you do is allin....it's gonno come back to bite you.

Symbol used the first game to test the waters and realized that he wasn't going to win in a macro game. @Bold - I can agree with you to an extent and that extent ends with the question: How did symbol make it this far for several GSL by primarily doing all-ins?

Symbol is def good enough to get to the bracket rounds, though his road was one of the easiest. It was against INnoVation where it seemed like he felt he had no choice and it was his only hope for winning.

First I highly disagrees with this, I'm pretty sure all his build were already decided before the first game, they all were clever and everything finishing at the same time, hitting at the perfect timing, the execution may not have been perfect but I'm convinced those were prepared/decided way before the first match, Symbol is really a smart player when it comes down to preparation. About all in, they all are pro player, in the end you do what you can do to take the win, and playing the macro game against terran like Innovation/Flash doesn't seems, right now, the best option, Roro and Life both tried and have been slapped by Innovation, Soulkey played really well game against Flash but still lost to him in a macro game. The only counter example I can think was that SoulKey vs Innovation game on Whirlwind, and maybe he will be able to do it again in the final, but I doubt it. I don't think there is a proper way to play macro oriented game in ZvT against bio+mines someone like Innovation, but bio mines open some timing that you can, and my point is to think that you should, exploit. In that sense, it was a cool series from symbol too, lots of mindgames and cool builds, wasn't perfect but he came closer to defeat Innovation in a series than any other zerg on HoTS. Can't wait for the final anyways, I hope Soulkey will show me how wrong am I (or baneling bust his way to the win ^^).

The only thing I care about regarding the Kespa switch is the increasing overall quality of the matches. The flooding of the "market" with good strong players increases the upper skill level and even the strongest players from both sides can't really relax on their current level (which was the vibe I sometimes got from players like Nestea, MC or Mvp "whatever - I am stronger anyway. I'm not really pushed to my limits.").

I'm not too sure how many Zergs have actually won any macro games in GSL this season and especially against Innovation it doesn't look like a clever option. Like, you can basically predict what Innovation is going to do in most games: get 3CCs, get a few hellions, get double upgrades, get ~8barracks, steamroll you with marine/medivac/mine. I just believe that no Zerg is really comfortable playing against this style at all, be it Innovation or any other toplevel Terran and thus all the busts from Symbol, RoRo, Shine, which are a really decent counter to such a build, which focuses on getting it's barracks production up (barracks and reactors finishing) between 10-12mins and is vulnerable before that. Innovation just is so good that he knows exactly when to scan and how to react and stays calm. (like there was absolutly no panicking against the drop and the nydus play, like in fantasy vs shine; there was no panicking when roro busted his natural and all Innovation had left was 4hellbats. he is just damn solid and doesn't make a lot of mistakes in those situations, where others just start to run their scvs into banelings, get supply blocked and lose their whole mineral line to a few stray roaches/zerglings)

I predicted SK would win this GSL, but now I'm not so sure.
