Being a hardcore fan boy is usually plagued with irrational thought. As for your mixed martial arts example, I'd say more fans gravitate towards certain fighters rather than the brand they're fighting in. Case in point look at all the crazy Fedor fans. I'd say you'd have a more constructive conversation by talking about which format/score card system when it comes to those two organizations.

What's funny about that? They are not the same person.

I hate when people say KESPA vs ESF is meaningless, its the thing that is keeping me most interested in SC2, I posted this a few days ago in Group C, when someone else said something similar, trying to explain to him why it matters to some people..

why do people care about kespa or esf. it doesnt fucking matter

Oh it matters. I despise anyone that is a fan of ESF. I think BW is superior in every way over SC2 and that KESPA players are the best RTS players. So by them crushing ESF guys I think it validates my believe. Its one of the main reasons I follow the SC2 scene. I also dont get why people get upset when someone posts about one or the other superiority. Thats the kind of stuff that makes rooting for sports so fun. As long as its done in a not in your face way, I dont see anything wrong with it. I would love to have SC2 get to a point where you go to a live event, and some players actually get booed and stuff (minus of course flash cause thats just not cool).

But yeah it matters to some of us, I'll never ever root for ESF and wont be satisfied till they all go back to being B-team dishwashers, harsh I know, but its how I feel.

I get that it dosent matter to some of you, but why do you assume then that its the same for everyone. Some of us identify strongly with one side or the other, I dont get why this bothers you guys. Find something yourselfs to be passionate about but dont get angry and annoyed at us for being passionate about something.

You call it passion, I call it being exceptionally childish.

I have strong feelings about it, I dont make posts insulting one side or the other, or boasting when KESPA is winning. Just in my heart I feel strongly about it. I would agree wiht you that if Flash wins, and I go in and post HAHAH suck it ESF, that would be childish. I dont do that, and you can confirm with my post history.

I dont know what you are extremly passionate about, but say it was soccer, and if I didnt give a fuck about soccer, does that give me the right to say your childish for carrying about soccer or a particular team? No, you obviously Identify with it for some reason, which I dont understand but I can respect. I happen to identify very strongly with KESPA players and hate ESF players, so im passionate about the rivalry. You may not understand or agree with me, but just because you dont have the same feelings as me about it, how does that make my feelings childish??

Its like someone comes and says, why care about a video game.

You can probably answer them, as to why you care about video games.

Then you may have gamers, and some of them maybe dont get why anyone would care about sc2.

Im sure you can explain to them why you are passionate about Sc2.

You may have Sc2 fans not understand why you like koreans, and watch GSL.

Im that there are people here that can explain why they are passionate about that.

You may have people not get why you care about a certain player.

You can probably explain, why you identify with him and cheer for him.

You have people who dont get why people care about ESF and KESPA

Well some of us can tell you why we identify, and care about that.

At every one of those levels a persons lack of understanding sometimes called ignorance, can lead to them saying shit like "your childish" "video games are stupid" "who cares about kroeans they got no personality" "whats the difference between KESPA and ESF its the same shit"....

Now we can see why I refer to it as passion and you as childish.

A passion can be childish. Yours, definitly is and there is no demagogy enough in this world to cover up the fucked up mindset people like you have when it comes to kespa vs esf thing. And yes, i am referring to the "despise" other people while expecting others to "not despise" your passion as childish.

i write kespa and esf. What does that make me ? :O

What if some cool kid in highschool that plays only sports said what you said but we sub some stuff.

I guess you can argue oh I dont despise other people part but thats not really the point. The point is that whatever the fuck it is you care about, someone might look at it as stupid and childish. You can tell the cool kid he is ignorant cause he dosent know anything about video games and how intense and cool games can be. Cant I say the same for you, that your ignorant, and that you do understand why the fuck KESPA matters so much to me, why 10 years of my life devoted to BW made me kind of bitter and angry when SC2 came and killed it and that one way I can have satisfaction and joy is by KESPA dominating SC2. Maybe your right, and I do have a fucked up mindest, but maybe you poured 10 years of your life into something. Maybe I deserve to get offended and upset when you try to tell me that that didnt mean shit, and i need to let it go. Well it meant something bro, at least understand that.

I can understand your bitterness. I love players from both sides, but obviously i wasn't invested into BW scene. I can ask, watch videos, or vods that fellow members of the community link from time to time, but as you said, now it's dead. I started following esports with sc2, most of the players i know and followed are esf players. There are exceptions, like innovation, and i am pretty sure over time i will get to like more players regardless of what side of the fence they are in. Do you think i should be despised because i got into this too late to follow BW, or to know their pros ? Nah, if anything it would be because of some of the stupid one-liners i write due to excitement.

And i don't understand why you feel people is trying to tell you "that didn't mean shit". People is telling you that your bitterness is directed in a childish way. You are despising people that are like you were 8 years ago. Passionate about something they enjoy (sc2), and even if you don't like the game, i think you should be able to find some empathy towards them. If kespa crushing esf players gives you satisfaction, i see no problem on that. Actually i think it's nice of you to still care even after BW... But i fail to comprehend where any sc2 fan caused you harm aside maybe some trolls who you should ignore anyways. Blizzard killed BW, not me.

No one is saying BW doesn't matter man =/ You can't blame some of the younger people for not knowing about BW. Some of the fans never even got to play it. Can't blame them if it was already an old game by them time they got into video games. A lot of SC2 fans ask a lot about BW because they want to learn more about it. There aren't a lot of great resources about it, but you can see that a lot of fans are genuinely interested in these players and their histories. That's why I appreciate SNM, he knows a decent amount of history and he shares this in his PL casts.

Only the forum trolls ever went into BW forums and celebrated its death. Only forum trolls hated on Kespa players when they decided to switch. You can see almost everyone loves a lot of Kespa players.

And Blizz killed BW. Not ESF, not its players, and definitely not the fans. Hate on Blizz if you want. Heck, Kespa decided to switch. ESF, its players, and its fans had nothing to do with it.

Relax man, it's bad for your soul to have so much hate over a game.

Edit: I'm not saying you have no right to be upset. Of course you do. You loved the game and now it's gone. But you shouldn't blame people who had nothing to do with it going away.

I agree with all of what you have said. I just want to clarify that you dont have to worry, its not like a burning hate I have or anything like that, its just at its core that is why the rivalry matters to me. I remember I first just responded to someone cause he posted that he dosent know why it mattered to people. All I tried to do is give my personal experience and as to why it mattered to me. People didnt like my reasons and or dismiss them as childish. I find it upsetting, for my feelings that I have developed over such a long time can be dismissed as childish by someone. So I just tried to make him understand further, but the more I try, the worse I get called. It started with people mocking my feelings, to calling them childish to know someone saying im fucked up in the head. So I guess I will just stop.

Even on the example Klogon is trying to do, i dare someone to find a barcelona fan cheering for real madrid to get a win on champions league, and vice versa.

In football you can actually find that and the champions league. Plenty of supporters cheer for their other national located teams, sometimes even if they are rivals. And as a Barcelona fan i have actually cheered for them :S (Blasphemy, i know) against english opposition because every news outlet and all the focus has been on the premier league so its nice when spanish teams win and get respected.

I assume that's what you're referring to

and even with that, though, you have other things like strength of schedule and the rankings to take into account. if your conference is perceived as strong you get better preseason rankings etc. none of that applies to this so it's pointless

Then how's a soccer comparison? In Champions League, you generally want your country's teams to do well because it makes your league seem stronger.

Pretty sure this isn't true in general. Maybe in generally smaller/weaker football nations, but still pretty doubtful (can you imagine Celtic fans supporting Rangers in CL?)

Then how's a soccer comparison? In Champions League, you generally want your country's teams to do well because it makes your league seem stronger.

Sure there may be other motives (strength of schedule, champions league spots in future, etc) but that doesn't mean identifying with one group/league/conference is stupid or irrational. It happens in almost every other competitive sport. Think about if UFC champion was paired off against the Pride champion in MMA (when it was still around). exactly. Fans of each promotion would be cheering for their own champion.

Hardly pointless. It's called being a fan.

I mean I guess there's no real point in debating it because we already have our minds made up how we view it. To me I see it like this hypothetical situation. Let's say I'm a Braves fan in baseball. Why should I care if the Giants beat the Angels or not? Or in another situation. Should a Yankees fan be cheering for the Red Sox to win because GO AMERICAN LEAGUE! It just doesn't seem right to cheer for your rival. I'd rather see them lose regardless of who they are playing. That's just my take on it but I guess it's just a personal preference.

Even on the example Klogon is trying to do, i dare him to find a barcelona fan cheering for real madrid to get a win on champions league, and vice versa.

Oh c'mon. Atleast take a day after i make my baseless claims. It is actually really really rare to find that, but i can only speak for spanish tho, even with national pride on the line, nothing is worse than your opponent getting a champion's league.

Going to go on a tangent here. I'd be happy if Bogus stopped changing his name. Someone needs to teach players the importance of brand recognition. It's funny because this wasn't much of a problem in the early years, but now it seems like every other Korean changes their name with the coming of a new season. Someone needs to get it through their head for branding purposes. It would help their following immensely.

I think it's safe to say MVP has been usurped. You can look back all you want while everyone else is looking forward. Got to keep your body in check.

Maybe they don't care about brand recognition for the foreigners? The koreans using their real name anyway so their ID is just something to mess around with.

This doesn't just apply to foreigners and I know they use their real names as well. The problem is they should care when it comes to marketing/promotional purposes people are going to associate the alias & their name. We're talking about everything from merchandising/memorabilia to searches.

Btw I think you can detect fairly consistently which "faction" is a poster from by just looking at the way he capitalizes "eSF" and "KeSPA".
If he's a KeSPA guy, he will write correctly "KeSPA" and all caps "ESF" or something.
If he's an eSF guy, he will write correctly "eSF" and just do whatever with Kespa.

I write "Kespa" and "eSF", haha.

If I was Life I would be more preoccupied about Kespa Zergs. They kicked his ass twice out of the Code S. I hope he practised ZvZ a lot..

Flash has the history, the skills, the work ethic, the dedication.

Innovation is amazing as well... maybe with time I'll have the same hype as for him as I do for Flash.

When I watch Innovation, I'm amazed at how good he is, but nothing more.

nothing

For the recommended games polls, isn't the question usually just "Recommend Winner's Match game 1?" without mentioning the players? Got spoiled when looking to see what games I should queue up
