Maybe the players don't want get involved in this shit? During MLG you saw Mvp, MC and Flash just laughing around while he was sitting in the booth like friends. A lot of the different sides probably know each other and just don't feel the need. I agree with the mixed teamleagues tough. Having the winner of GSTL vs the winnener of Proleague play against each other would be great. Or just mix up the leagues completely but i doubt we will ever see that happen.

I don't know if you guys follow college sports, but Kespa vs eSF has become like conference versus conference. Usually you root for your conference in inter-conference match ups, even if you usually think of that team as a rival.

and even with that, though, you have other things like strength of schedule and the rankings to take into account. if your conference is perceived as strong you get better preseason rankings etc. none of that applies to this so it's pointless

Going to go on a tangent here. I'd be happy if Bogus stopped changing his name. Someone needs to teach players the importance of brand recognition. It's funny because this wasn't much of a problem in the early years, but now it seems like every other Korean changes their name with the coming of a new season. Someone needs to get it through their head for branding purposes. It would help their following immensely.

Then how's a soccer comparison? In Champions League, you generally want your country's teams to do well because it makes your league seem stronger.
Sure there may be other motives (strength of schedule, champions league spots in future, etc) but that doesn't mean identifying with one group/league/conference is stupid or irrational. It happens in almost every other competitive sport. Think about if UFC champion was paired off against the Pride champion in MMA (when it was still around). exactly. Fans of each promotion would be cheering for their own champion.
