I didn't follow BW, so I don't really have any favorite KeSPA players. However, I must say that herO is someone I really look forward to watching and cheering for. He seems to have some personality and I hope that's able to shine in 2013.
Bit of a hype for Light, playing here against the then zerg herO[jOin]
Also I think he managed to All Kill a We.Made here with starborn Baby in the lineup? Or something like that.
And this back in 2007 before all mech boredoods showed up was pure glory. On a map which was highly tilting towards Zerg at the time.
I'm so sad that this guy always had the fucking hardest OSL groups even after the ODTs he fought through were nothing short of slaughterhouses too. This was his group from the OSL-in-which-Iris-lost-his-trophy-out-of-the-nowhere:
and then when a fan was just about starting to hope that he might go on to the Ro8 at least, came this: With a match against The sAviOr - opposed to the savior of the latter times - which still gives anyone the chills, I'm sure. And then there was still Flash and iloveoov.
This was still only a year after he was drafted. He continued to improve up to the point where he managed to get the most kills in the Winner's League, and almost broke iloveoov's TvZ all-time record of 33-3.
And now he is here with a 7-1 at his home turf; smiling calmly awaiting his next opponent; as the Shrike, enjoying what comes next: All-Kill Time.
Ps.: DAYUM, totallyforgotthematchesheplayed against Jaedong at bigfile. ;_;7 BCs, bio, basetrades and queens - He truly is my superterran ~<3~
thanks to JBright again for continuing to make these threads <3 Which banner do you guys like more? The proleague banner from wo1fwood or the AK? If you guys have any banners you want me to use for the other matches just PM them me and I can update the op template or whatever.

They are casters in Korea, relative unknowns, and everyone hates them for reasons that are slightly beyond me. They make some mistakes, but will improve in time. I think it just revolves around the fact that TB and TLO etc lost the job because kespa decided to pick random people who weren't "entitled" enough..

I think SNM is excellent and on top of things, think Artosis without the long-windedness and air of self-importance. He's very accurate in terms of explaining the strategies and strengths of the players.
Whiplash is struggling a little bit with pronunciation but I think he's kind of funny.
What I like is that they follow the climax of the game. You can see they're into it and it draws you in. Much better than having Tasteless stop casting in anticipation for his coffee break. ie "expect GG aaaany second now" while he is slowly getting off his chair, ready to take off his headset.

Sorry SNM and whiplash. My bad.
Whichever way it is, the accent gets kinda annoying for me :/. Also, there's definitely room for improvement in the casters' game knowledge. I remember a TvT (Puma versus Fantasy I believe) where a player was going for the reaper hellion medivac elevator all in, and they were confused by the build...That, and they sometimes have awkward pauses that they either don't fill up or fill up kinda poorly. That said, I'm sure they'll get better with time. I wish I could hear that awesomesauce dario casting though

Sin (BrAvO) is a good TvT player, Light is still a question mark but is possibly still a beast.

4-0 is worth more then winning with a closer score so it would be wise to send your best player out to hope for an all kill.
yea but the chances of all-kill arent high. Its better to play safe and grab the win I would think.
The teams that are doing that have just as capable players to hold in reserve; KT has stats, EG-TL has... everyone, SKT has Rain, Woongjin has Soulkey and CJ has Effort.

People have said a lot that WL-mode gives better chance to smaller teams. I strongly disagree. Bigger teams actually have more material to prepare very specific snipers for each match and possible situation. I expect bigger teams to get to use quite a lot of their less known players here and there, when the sniping goals require it.
Sigh. sHy and ZerO you were so good for me the first round but with your point values increasing my FPL team can no longer afford you. Best of luck! I will root for you out of loyalty.

Light is no questionmark to me. I laughed when I saw he was worth so little points in FPL and took him as my ace. He's looked great in every game I've seen him, he just hasn't been given a lot of playing time.

Probably. Although EGTL, because of their team make-up sans Jaedong, have a lot of players that are used to playing winner's league formats and are better rounded players - less likely to be a single match up sniper, and have a chance for better longevity in the match picking up multiple wins.
Of course, since we haven't seen the KeSPA elite in this format with this game, maybe we'll be surprised.
Let's find out!

Flying is probably playing this round. KotH is often a matter of confidence and Flying is a competent player that went 0-4. I doubt he will be able to regain the edge this round. free should be played against zerg ahead of him.

Bbyong is the top terran on CJ and they follow a per match player system which could have him play quite a few match if the conditions are right. EffOrt will be played ahead of him but he should still be the 3rd wheel of CJ.

You took that statement the wrong way. Smaller teams need less help from their supporting players which levels the playing field. But the better teams often have the better aces (like SKT)

herO mistake was too pick immo over stalkers. Zealot/Archon is the natural follow-up of DT opening, a Blink play comes slightly latter.

Hydra wins a game, but loses to random woongjin terran. Leta shows up and becomes the bisu of WoL (hots gets pushed back 'cause Blizzard). Dominates everyone. That fan that cheered for woongjin cries and Leta comes outta the booth with a dress on dancin' like never before. Jaedong runs into the studio and joins him. Ahhh finally an interesting analysis. Hydra was planning for a timing with hydras and the appropriate answer to that is the colossus deathball on 2 bases. The last engagement was kinda bad too.
On January 05 2013 12:54 Emptyness wrote: And those colosi needed range upgrade and perhaps to be on the high ground . Especiallz the first one .
Totally agree. Hydra had no way of spotting high ground, and sHy putting that collossi on the high ground would have done a LOT more for him than it did. Might just have pushed Hydra to go after the third though, which would have ended the game just as well.
Edit: Probably should have just puled in the phoenix to lift roaches as well, just for the hell of it. Sure he would have lost them, but 5 less roaches on the ground means his army and cannon live longer, and it's better to risk losing them than lose the game. Oh well.

And what's the reason? I run a big table of R1 scores and current price. Free was the most valuable 3 pointer protoss in the league and among the top most valuable 3 pointers overall in the league. He is very underrated but brings the score to your team.

Well we are doing it from round to round. I wish we would extend it though but it's tricky with round 2 being winners league. We do need longer periods for the FPL though or else it's too short even with every team playing two matches a week.

The next two rounds are both a return to the proleague format, so I wonder if we'll perhaps see a 2-round FPL?

i wonder how much prep actually goes into map-specific practice considering there are so many scenarios possible with all-kill format, with two matches per week too

YAY Hydra my FPL!!
The mistakes are just absolutely brutal to listen to sometimes, not always but it is in crucial fights that determine the games outcome. I was only a GM zerg in north america (which in korean terms isnt very good) but man its just hurts to listen to sometimes simplistic mistakes that make it sound so much worse. I dunno if its nerves or w.e on their part but I just cant find it acceptable that its still like this in round 2 of proleague when they've been casting for a good bit. I feel like they really need to go back watch the VODs of their casting and fix it based on that if they wanna improve. I don't think its really possible to improve that much in a short time just off feedback they really gotta hear their own casting to see just how awful sometimes it can be. It isn't always bad but when its bad its bad lol ah well hopefully they improve.

I think that push from Hydra didn't do as much dmg as it was suppose to do - one gateway kill . Waaaay too much lings and not enough roaches and no hydra's dps .
And the counter-attack from free was the normal response and unstoppable .

They have players train specifically for certain players.

That's what I thought about the ace players, usually they are held back in case things get dicy. And if they come out early, they might get sniped. Oh well. I guess we'll see how this will develop.

i have WJS as team and 3 WJS players too, so i don't really mind since i'd get the team points for my team as well as each player haha
Not a bad decision at all. I was even considering picking 3 from WJS too.
i have light, soulkey and fokins as my 1-point throwaway, hoping he'll get me some team points since i don't expect him to play ever lol. was tossing up with shy or soulkey for a loong time.
Bbyong is the biggest question mark on my FPL team... He started last round on my anti, ruining the round for me and stopped playing well after I traded him away. Time for him to redeem himself, I guess ^^

Worth Revival though? I made the same decision as several posters previous, and think he's a far inferior player (I didn't realize Revival was only 3).

Mehh dropping him down let me grab SKT as my team so even if he wins...
Though I agree he is worth more then three points, I just wanted SKT as my main team
Alright, I know everybody says this in every ProLeague LR thread, but I"m turning this off because of the casters.
Not because of their lack of charisma, personality or play-by-play ability (all of which are basically nil), but because they seem to lack even the most basic knowledge of game mechanics, such as forcefields. During the replay of the last game, he just said that he was using FFs to keep out as many units as possible, which is clearly not what you do with FFs. You use them to segment out the enemy Zerg forces and kill small chunks of them at a time, rather than facing the full brunt of the swarm. That is the fucking basics.
Adios, sorry if this rant brought anybody else down or anything.

I was torn because I thought Free was obviously better than his cost but didn't know if he was gonna get play time. WJS had both Free and Light begging for more playtime, didn't know who would be the ones to get their wish.
I think Revival might/will play better next weekend. I just try not to jump on the common bandwagon too often. This weekend though he might not be in his usual form.

SNM is going to be annoying no matter what he does, I just hate his voice >_<. That's the reason I don't try casting, I feel like I have a weird voice that people wouldn't want to listen to, and that really is a requirement. Sometimes I also wonder, does he speak English as a second language? Some of the errors he makes in his speech just remind me of my foreign friends.
Definitely agree that an important way to improve as a caster is to go back over your own work... Just like with players watching their own replays, besides being good at the game itself casters should try doing the same game three or four times, privately, to figure out the best ways to say things and to catch themselves on any quirky sayings they might have.

harharhar well i meant like more so that like im not at a high korean level to predict their strategies unique ones etc.... Woongjin is a ridiculously deep team, I think that's why free cost so little - he's going to be one of those players who comes out to snipe someone specific... and there are better ways to use your player slots. If you're one of the people that picked 2-3 7/8/9 point plahyers though and just didn't have the points to go around, he was definitely a good choice.

Yeah, I originally had ZerO in my team, until I took a look at how deep Woongjin is and realized he probably won't get that many games. Switched to soO right away, since he's pretty likely to play as the third-best player on his team. I'm not sure why you would pick ZerO over soO, given that Woongjin also has Soulkey.

Proleague is taking a Hiatus around the release time of HotS. There should be a month long break for the players to adjust.
actually kind of a wash in scouting the proxy... ZerO had to pull a bunch of drones and go pool first, but the barracks got cancelled. Huge map, and now Bbyong has an expo up... sure, he's behind but it definitely could have been worse.

BAH, I didn't see the splitting or anything when the banelings were attacking, because I often get hit with 이 한 타이밍 stream lag right in the midst of action. >_<

yeah, then he said that effort canceled his hive... while effort was making +3. really poor casting :/
Effort didn't quite have his +3 attack :\.... And yeah the roach flanks are always just too late. He really needed to clear out those overlords from around there and engage all at once. Maybe even bring an Overseer with those Roaches, as he always misses the opportunity to kill all those Infestors at the back.

Wait, so does that mean Lineup Apperance isnt the "lineup" but if the player plays or not? I've always thought the lineup was if they're sitting on the bench or not.
SO it would be +1 for all players in the bench +1 for additional win

No, the bench has no FPL-scoring consequence whatsoever. You get +1 for lineup if a player comes out to play, no matter how many maps he'll win in this format then. And every player in the FPL database for a winning team will also get +1 no matter if he is in the studio or not.

Oh my god thank you so much for those VODS down there. I didnt notice it until now and got this match spoiled by extremely stupid VOD system on twitch.
T.T only 5 points for this match, I hope that Shy won't turn out to be a bad pick. I guess he will play a lot for his team so it's not that bad, I will probably have to check the vods to see if he is legitly good or not. Can't trade him anyways.

averaging five points per match is pretty solid imo
well... out of 2 WJS guys I have on my FPL team (Light and free) only free played, and won 1, lost 1. Bbata also didn't play so that means Day 1 got me fucked in FPL :<

Maybe but it's still worrying that right now the players bringing in the more points (Terminator +6 and ZerO +6) were "low to mid" cost players. Since it's an all-kill format if this trend continues having a lot of mid cost players will have proven more successful than the more intuitive "two or three super aces players".
However imo WJS and T8 were favored in both of this matches so they didn't need to send the big guns necessarily and it was the first match so teams will adapt.

Just checked back at the thread, wow, this was the worst timing for you to have ZerO roll CJ, I guess
I'm also going with 4 WJs Light, hOn-sin, ZerO, and Flying, with Fanta and sSak rounding it up, and having WJ as my team, ofc too.
If I'm counting right this match gave me not as many points though because it was only ZerO who played out of the 4.
What's the new scoring for the team's results, again? Can't remember it, but I guess 4-2 goes with like 2 points or something? That leaves me barely above 10 points for now.
