Maps like Steppes of War, Kulas Ravine, Delta Quadrant, Scrap Station, Xel Naga Caverns? game brand new, rax before depot, no meta game to speak of, tourneys few and far between... 2012 the game is way more developed and is as bad or worse than it's ever been. You're clearly unable to tell what year things happened in. You're thinking of 2010. 2011 was the year of MVP, the year of MMA. The GSTL insanity. etc. etc. etc.

So does that mean GomTvT never happened? no..... It was fun to watch at least...

Disappointed to see 5/6 players being Zerg, but with most of the Protosses slumping, and the majority of the Zergs playing at their best, it was expected. One lone son of Aiur will challenge the fury of the Swarm soon, while the Terrans have all long gone. Jeez, this is just like the campaign. That is like saying GomTvT happened because P and Z were slumping and a majority of the Terrans were playing at their best. The meta and the maps just favor zergs right now. Especially top zergs that can defend all the timings.

Seed fell to Code A because he dropped 4 maps to a Protoss in his ro32 group, then got knocked down to Code B by a Terran. He also got 2-0'ed by Kas at Iron Squid. Nestea even said he lost his passion and hadn't been practicing as much. Rain got knocked out by a Terran too. He has only been able to win against Protoss since he got knocked out of MLG by Bomber. So I think it's safe to say, that the 2 Protosses were in fact already not doing so well, in a slump, whatever, regardless of the ZvP metagame or maps.

What about the qualifications for the event itself? All the zergs (besides DRG) did it by winning late second half tournaments. The T and Ps (Creator, Ryung, Bogus) that were doing better in second half couldn't get in because they lost to zergs in those tournaments.

Ok, so maybe infestor/broodlord is a bit broken. My point is, the imbalance has existed all along, but because players of yore were not as technically proficient as today's players, taking advantage of the core mechanics (ie. creep spread, overlord spread, inject larva) simply make other changes seem super powerful. It's the reason TLO provided (on more than one occasion) for switching back to zerg. I think the best way to truly fix this would be to improve the core mechanics of the other races such that they have potential to affect the game to the same degree as zerg's core mechanics. Warp gates seem pretty cool, but chronoboost is lackluster and doesn't provide much room for separation between a great player and the best player. Terran's core mechanics just seem outright bad in this regard. PS. I would like to see improved top speed/acceleration on hunter seeker missile, possibly accompanied by a damage reduction. It would definitely help to narrow the gap between 'necessary' and 'almost useless' for the primary terran spellcaster.

It was the Queen buff and OL speed buff which made it worse. T were able to 'control' creep with hellion. Maybe TOO much so but without hellions, creeps are now too much. They really need to slow down creeping for the top level zergs. As for the injects, the reason we are seeing this being so powerful now is that zerg has such good early game defense (Queens) and scouting that they can make minimal units to defend and get their economies up much early (zergs no longer even need to make spines in early game TvZ). Another side affect of this is that Ts have to play more greedy (3CC) or invest a lot on harass (hellions) to keep up with econ. Which have made builds like early roach pressure very successful. Even if you see the roaches when they are in the middle of the map, if you have committed to hellions/3CC. You will take a lot of damage and play from behind.
