That's what snipers are for etc. Both systems actually produce very similar results. We had this discussion going on for years in WC3. A lot in this system depends on luck (map + matchup you get). Yeah they weren't great maps, but as a Protoss I had to play out games using different openers to other maps, and different openers if I spawned close air on Meta.
