My main issue with stephano is that he talks big despite having never participated in the best tourney in the world, the GSL. He's pretty much up against at best Code A material atm, and thats being generous.
Maybe if he actually grew some balls and actually went to korea with the big boys, I'd respect the guy a lot more.

Two questions:

1) Do you consider starcraft 2 tournaments to be competitive?
2) If so, why should it be treated differently from other sports in terms of dominant players trash talking?

If SC2 is the first thing you have ever watched competitively then I guess it explains your disdain for trash talking.

Wow. What a surprise. The world's best non Korean wins a tournament in which Koreans weren't eligible to participate. Who'd have thought?

And to you idiots arguing, take that shit to Reddit. I'd rather keep all the keyboard warriors in one place. That way, they're easier to avoid and ignore.

I don't recall many sportsmen, no matter how cocky trashtalking, after they pick up their prizes. Boxers for example talk an insane amount of trash to hype up their fights, but don't tend to do so after.

it would be a huge disappointment if stephano never entered the gsl. he has to do it at some point, he just has to.

He doesn't have to. He makes more money staying away from Korea and if that's all he's interested in, why would he move?

So the only thing you're mad about is that he said "money in the bank"? He barely dropped any games; it was relatively easy for him.

To your boxer comment: Mohammad Ali anyone?

I don't understand why would anyone care about post game drivel at all, especially about someone who is so obviously putting on an act and trying to be funny.

lol Grubby has an excellent personality, decent play, and is respected in the community, in part for his WC3 career (though someone correct me if I am wrong on this, but wasn't he bm at some point, long long ago, and it had caused some controversy?)

As for Stephano, I think that his arrogance is probably a little bit of an act as well. He is pretty much like an occasionally bm/non-korean version of MC, at least to me. But I dig it. As long as he performs, I like his character as part of the sc2 professional community. I don't think it is hurting e-sports xD

Thanks to a wedding, I didn't get to watch a single game of what looks like was an incredible tourney. Where can I find a recommended games list, should one exist? If there isn't one, are there any sets that are must see? From the sound of the LR thread, Stephano had some awesome ZvZ micro/decision making.

Day 1 Stephano v Lucifron was the best series by popular consensus. Entire series is good

Day 2 Grubby against Nerchio, game 2 I think was also a sick game

Lol at people crying over Stephano's "arrogance".

Anyway, lucifron won in my heart. Third as Terran, heroic effort!

Because he is one of the only players in all of eSports to not have a team.
Because he has been doing this since WC3 days.
Because he is a really cool guy.
Because he loves eSports more than we do.
Mediocre play? Watch him play against Nerchio.

Hey can Stephano actually speaks French?

Just wondering because I want to converse with him in his mother tongue in case of future encounter.

Weird question.
He's French so yes of course, he can speak French...

No, he just has an extremely French accent when he speaks English. He cannot actually converse in French.

Stephano speaks French just like this:

What the hell are you guys talking about... He is a native French speaker. Just listen to any of his interviews in French wtf.

twas a joke my good man.

grubby can take down basically any foreigner except stephano and he's taken down many koreans as well in tournaments. he's also been competing in esports for about 10 years. that's just the tip of the iceberg as to why someone would like him.
