I really feel sad about thorzain, I'm not quite sure what happened since his last DH win but he has been struggling alot lately. I always considered him one of the best terran in the world for how refined his personal builds were. LOL it wasn't even 2 months ago where he won WCS Sweden. He still is one of the best. One bad tournament doesn't mean a player sucks. Let's not forget he got pretty sick only a few weeks back.

anytime you're in front of the public you have to show something, generally ANYTHING and you'll be ok. 95% of pro-gamers korean or not are timid and sheepish in the spotlight. <3 Stephano.

After qualifying to the grand finals, beating Vortix 2/0 he knew he was going to play against a player he had already beaten (Lucifron, Lowely, or Vortix) and could drop a bo3 in his way to taking the championship (dues to extented series). Someone asked him "how did he feel about winning the tournament and he replied" "I already won" "Anything else to say ?" "No 'cause I already won". Then just before playing against Vortix there was an interview going with the 2 guys "How do you feal about this match" "I'm gonna win like I said, probably easily" After the games (he lost the first bo3 but remained with a record of 5/2 against Vortix this day) he hexplains that it was not as easy as he thought but that he was sure to win anyway. He also told that he was "cocky" because that's what people wanted him to be.

Did anyone see how big the stream numbers hit during the finals, it was around 60k when I left and that was before Stepanho games. I wish Stephano was playing in Valencia next week with Taeja attending. Will be fun to see how some of the guys who did well here do there with some good Koreans added in.

Not one person has realised that surely there must be a compromise - a middleman? Lo and behold, it actually is possible to be popular without being a prick! For further proof, go to the OP and check who do you want to win poll. Hint: he is one of the most modest and genuine players in the RTS scene. Grubby also has a great personality. You seem to not understand what people are looking for in players. We want character. We want personality. Stephano takes the cocky, sure of himself foreigner persona. MC is the Boss Toss showman, threatening all of his opponents. But, Grubby is also a character, and for the reasons you mention. He is very well spoken, outgoing, promotes himself well and has a legendary background. We want to see the King of the Orcs rise again. Now lets compare to someone like, say, Oz. Extremely skilled guy. But, he is forgettable. I can't think of anything Oz has really done. I know he's pretty good PvP. Or, say Vortix who we just watched. We all saw he had a strong play style, but he didn't really give us any insight into who he is as a person. Now, to be fair, he's new to the spotlight and we have to give him a chance to develop. But, just winning tournaments is not enough to become a popular, fan-favorite player.

SC2 as an eSport is really looking strong. We all know the player base has dropped off a lot, and that's to be expected, but it's great to see the viewerbase is still very large.

The scene needs all types of characters. And a cocky dude who just dominates role is filled by Stephano

And to answer your question, yes cocky people are pricks this goes for anyone, not just Stephano. Just imagine you're at an Internet cafe playing sc2, then some random guy comes up to you and starts bragging about how he will own you. Then after playing a best of 5, you win the first 2 games but lose overall. He then tells you that you only won the first 2 games because he was taking it easy on you for shits and giggles. I guarantee that most people would want to kick the shit out of him right there on the spot.

I'm also excited to see all three of these guys at Shanghai. I wonder if Lucifron will make a Day9 daily after that mech vs Z, except I think Bomber may have been in a similar one recently.

And Stephano isn't just some random guy in an internet cafe. He's the best player outside of Korea, one of the best in the whole world and has won more money this year than any other dude in the world. Hardly the same thing. And Stephano ended up going 5-2 against Vortix this weekend. If someone takes what Stephano says seriously, then they need to improve as a competitor.

It is amazing how much it can explain about a person when you see their general feelings about certain issues. No, most people on this planet would not want to kick the shit out of a person right there on the spot. You would. Explains quite a bit about your rantings in this thread...
