Would anyone care? You analogy doesn't make sense. Why is there no money for those tournaments? They all have prize money, GSL also has. And Olympic doesn't have huge prize money, why does tennis players go there? because competing in the Olympics doesn't mean you will be missing other tournaments. Playing in GSL means either less tournaments or a jam packed schedule and flying from Korea. Its a detriment for sure. I expect to see Stephano in GSL for a season when things settle down. Then he should not make the analogy that no money for Roland Garros, just say schedule problem. And also due to Olympics schedule, Federer dropped Toronto ATP1000, Murray also basically dropped it, Novak defending the points/honor, that's some huge money there. So, honor is more important than money for those players. So wait, your saying its ok for them to drop that tournament in favor of another? Isn't that exactly what Stephano does with GSL?

Olympia itsself has no prize money, but most countrys pay a shitton for winning a medal + its not about the honor but the popularity... Federer is now in the minds of way more ppl then before = bigger gainings from advertises and so on....pls dont say they dont do it for the money. An Olympic medal gains you a shit-ton more money than every other tournament (especially in Tennis...). The fact that some ppl dont the see connections how this money is generated lead to the fact that they talk about their participation as "honorable sportsmanship"...dafuck, its money business. Thats all.
*edit* sorry for all quote, posting from a scary place with no time :>*edit*

Of course they're doing it mainly for the money, but there's always the competition with others and yourself, the passion about the sport you are practicing ( if you didn't love it , you wouldn't get that far ). Winning a big tournament and saying that win means another trip to the bank just makes you look like a piece of garbage.
|
Being honest doesnt make ppl look like garbage to me. And in fact he said this tournament had no meaning for him but the Trip to Shanghai is an honor. And now pls dont interpret this phrase as "cocky" cause as long as no one can look in his mind we should take it as serious as the sentence he said before.... (of course, everyone will remember only the money thing, not the honor thing cause ppl want to..).

At the end of the tournament I learned one thing:
No drones are safe from Lucifron.
NONE.
|
As well as Lucifron played at this, he's still not a serious contender for WCS WC. None of the Terrans going are contenders and that's really sad.

If you guys are gonna compare Federer and Stephano dont forgett : Federer have 100$ m earnings, Stephano have 200k$ ofcours its easier for federer to play for "honor" then stephano. asdkqwrerhwrt

In my opinion Stephano only said the trip to the bank thing as a joke and to be funny

Yeah, I suppose the qualifier was too early for Korean terrans to hold up the flag. Looking at the Protoss on the other hand is what it should look like for every race.
Creator, Seed, Parting, Squirtle, HerO still in it.

Stephano is a good "character" for e-sport, even if you hate him. Because we love or hate him unlike some very good players who are just nerd who can't speak and doing the show. It's fun because, even the guy who hate Stephano watch his games to see him fall. He doing a lot for e sport (even if it's not his objective ).

Stephano press conference :
"i'm not cocky, I just say what the audience want to hear"

Not one person has realised that surely there must be a compromise - a middleman? Lo and behold, it actually is possible to be popular without being a prick! For further proof, go to the OP and check who do you want to win poll. Hint: he is one of the most modest and genuine players in the RTS scene. so because Stephano is confident he is a prick? come on now. He's a great showman. He's why the stream hit 100k viewers. The scene needs all types of characters. And a cocky dude who just dominates role is filled by Stephano First you call him confident, then you call him cocky? And to answer your question, yes cocky people are pricks this goes for anyone, not just Stephano. Just imagine you're at an Internet cafe playing sc2, then some random guy comes up to you and starts bragging about how he will own you. Then after playing a best of 5, you win the first 2 games but lose overall. He then tells you that you only won the first 2 games because he was taking it easy on you for shits and giggles. I guarantee that most people would want to kick the shit out of him right there on the spot. It is amazing how much it can explain about a person when you see their general feelings about certain issues. No, most people on this planet would not want to kick the shit out of a person right there on the spot. You would. Explains quite a bit about your rantings in this thread... This explains a lot about your denial of a very plausible scenario. Note that I said "would want to kick his ass" not will kick his ass. Lol at people still defending arrogance. I bet the Next time some tough guy comes up to you and starts bragging, surely you will kindly brush him off as confident and shake his hand! Lol!!! Omg this is getting too much!! Lol!!! Are you like a genuinely crazy person in real life? Posting about doing physical violence what is wrong with you? Yep just another one in denial of how they would feel in a similar situation. /yawn If someone thinks beating me in a video game makes him a "tough guy" I would just laugh at him lol If somebody beats you for a 24k prize in front of 100k viewers, and basically gloats and says you're bad after he's won and that wouldn't at least annoy you you're a better man than I Fortunately, many people are.

Rachel won wcs. She dominated Vortix and Lucifron easly!

As has already been posted in this thread. But if you really want to reach the conclusion that Stephano is an antisocial, spiteful asshole based on a few lines in a stage-interview, well, it's better just to ignore that part..
As far as I can tell, this whole discussion of 'attitude' is just a cover for people looking for a point to stick their dislike of Stephano on. Maybe because they prefer Naniwa, maybe because it irks them when people praise players outside of Korea or maybe simply because they don't like to like the top dog. But those reasons seem petty, and so instead he is turned into this malicious caricature of a person in order to justify that feeling of bad when Stephano confirms his spot at the head of the table by winning another tournament.
"Don't you see? It's not that I'm mad because Stephano proved me wrong again, it's that he is killing esport!"
