All the haters can keep on hating, because it's obvious that Stephano draws the crowds. Any tournament he is in, the stream numbers show it. Hell, look at the stream numbers as soon as he starts playing... they always spike and drop when he is done. Whole tournaments suffer when this guy is knocked out early (doesn't happen often...).
Much better, IMO, than half these guys who get up on stage and offer no conversation or emotion at all.
Naniwa can be as "passionate" about the game as he wants... doesn't seem to be getting him too far. Maybe money and success are better driving factors.
Lol stupid haters who can't admit his talent: Kevin van der Kooi @RotterdaM08 Freaking Stephano. :D He was here for 6 days.. didn't play a single game, flies for 20 hours.. shows up and wins. Just makes you mad. :D GG! He was hanging out with NASL staff in California filming content and playing with his playmate Lauren just last weekend from Sat to Wed. Hehe, you almost have to feel bad for other player at the events like Grubby, Lucifron, Thorzain etc. :D Also players like Incontrol & Idra etc. who get so much shit for being "bad" at the game, yet they practices more than Stephano and he just rapes them ez. Guess i can see why some ppl don't want him to act like that, especially when he so talented and don't practice. When other people practices so much more and have a passion for the game and Esports, like Grubby etc.. So I can see why some people percive him as an arrogant ass. I can virtually guarantee the stephano doesn't practice is an exaggerated myth that gets spread because of stephano's image. Well I don't think people thinks he never practices, atleast thats not what I think. Surely he plays the game & practices! But from what a lot of people say, like Bling, Rotterdam and Stephano himself. It does not looks like he practices anywere near 8 hours or anything like that. Yet beats everyone easy, even Koreans like MC, HerO, Taeja and 99% of every foreigners. Most people he beats probably trains a lot more than Stephano. Stephano kinda looks like an foreigner Stork or something.
What the fuck ? Stephano beats Taeja, MC and Hero easy ? Really ? I hope WCS world will open fanboys eyes. Stephano is good, maybe the best foreign player. But he's just another foreigner for Top Korean players.

Yes I edited my initial post. Sure Stephano loves to BS and exaggerate but he said flat out he couldn't stream and practice because he moved flats to Paris. This was right before NASL 3 which he won in spectacular fashion. He says he couldn't practice for 2 weeks and everyone just says he's a liar. It's not humble but it very well could be the truth.

Humble Korean Acthttp://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=218647Sorry but the only reason Stephano is popular is because he is white and can occasionally take down Koreans. Its racist, narrow-minded people like you, who have no idea about the enthusiasm of many Koreans who make me sick. In other words: 1 Korean wins and is a bore = all koreans are boring? 1 foreigner celebrates in style = all foreigners celebrate in style? LOL. Take your racism and GTFO out of Team Liquid. It's you that are being racist... Nope its the truth. Think long and hard about it. Many people call him the foreigner hope, why is that? Because he is not Korean... So cheering for lets say Sweden in the world cup would make me a racist? In this case i think most people will cheer for the underdog as they want to see something sensational. Nope, that would make you patriotic. Patriotism is a step down from racism but still annoying. Unite the world, our blood is all red. This is 2012, Patriotism and Racism needs to GTFO.
Fuck you. I dont give a shit what year it is, people should be able to cheer for their country and not feeling guilty about it.
It's sad to see the discussion derailing like this, I guess you (the h8rs) are the vocal minority though for sure. This was a really great event and the best one ever in SC2 history if you ask me. Dreamhack set the bar really high for the Asian Finals and the World Finals so I am hoping they will bring their A game!

To be honest, I agree that Stephano well above Naniwa, but I was trying to point out that Nani is not nearly as popular despite also being very skilled and, coincidentally, white.

We saw this same crap in the DOTA2 International. The Chinese obviously were fielding all the best teams, so many were rooting for NaVi because they are charismatic and seen as an underdog of sorts. that's not racism
that's being a fan of certain teams/players
if you want SC2 racism, look at the people that say they stop watching if a certain race is playing or is no longer playing

Stephano played better and also was an ass. You don't say you won easily after dropping two games unless you want to draw attention. And attention whores, yet fun, are lame.

|
I prefer Nani, but I do think Stephano is better. However that would be the bit there I'd disagree with. Stephano plays Zerg, and a really refined player he is but he's not really known for mixing it up. Nani was showing gate expands in PvZ against Donraegu, which is a massive change from his 'FFE or die' approach at MLG Providence.
Never change a running system. If you beat all the guys with your start and execution why would you change it? It's all about winning the game and I think Nani changed it up because it was not succesfull at some point or he thought his chance of winning would increase.

This tournament was amaaaaaaazing to attend to. Great production and interaction with the crowd, the gangnam dance-offs were hilarious! The arena also offered competitions, beta keys and meet'n'greets on the upper floor which was awesome + all the free stuff you got. All in all, best event I've attended to/seen so far. Dreamhack outdid themselves and I think it may partially be thanks to Blizzard.
