I think if eSports will ever be something like normal sports players should learn something about sportmanship , winning and earning $ shouldn't give you the right to be arrogant and act like a mercenary.
What a load of crap. Esport doing fine just look at this event. And don't mistake cockiness with unsportsmanlike. I never seen Stephano BM anyone

Football is a huge sport but most players are cocky and rich as hell.
They should learn something too . It wasn't always like this. This happens when the fans allow it and encourage it .
Dreamhack delivers, every single time it gets better. These days no other tournament gets it up to this level, in my opinion. Well done to Stephano, to me he was the clear favorite. His personality and attitude make him a true esports champion, and brings the scene further into the daylight where it belongs.

All the haters can keep on hating, because it's obvious that Stephano draws the crowds. Any tournament he is in, the stream numbers show it. Hell, look at the stream numbers as soon as he starts playing... they always spike and drop when he is done. Whole tournaments suffer when this guy is knocked out early (doesn't happen often...).
Much better, IMO, than half these guys who get up on stage and offer no conversation or emotion at all.
Naniwa can be as "passionate" about the game as he wants... doesn't seem to be getting him too far. Maybe money and success are better driving factors.
Sorry but the only reason Stephano is popular is because he is NOT KOREAN and can occasionally take down Koreans. Its racist, narrow-minded people like you, who have no idea about the enthusiasm of many Koreans who make me sick.
In other words: 1 Korean wins and is a bore = all koreans are boring? 1 foreigner celebrates in style = all foreigners celebrate in style?
LOL. Take your racism and GTFO out of Team Liquid.

To add to that, what Stephano says could be seen as showmanship because he can actually back it up.

The major problem with MLG actually is the arenas (rather boring, no crowd) and their big halls. It´s more like a gaming convention, Dreamhack is a gaming festival. People dancing on stream is just perfect. MLG doesn´t even have room for people dancing. Dreamhack will lead the way how eSports should be presented. Maybe this will change if MLG finishes their new building.

As far as I can tell, it's so obvious that Stephano is always joking whenever he makes a cocky remark like that. He's just trying to be funny in one of the only ways French people know how.

Exactly. For some reason, a lot of people think that audiences want to see these well mannered, quiet types that respectfully say GG, take their money and go home to practice.
The biggest names in sports all have HUGE egos and flaunt their success all the time.

Lol stupid haters who can't admit his talent:
Kevin van der Kooi @RotterdaM08 Freaking Stephano. :D He was here for 6 days.. didn't play a single game, flies for 20 hours.. shows up and wins. Just makes you mad. :D GG!
He was hanging out with NASL staff in California filming content and playing with his playmate Lauren just last weekend from Sat to Wed. So maybe when he says he hasn't been able to practice for like two weeks before winning NASL due to moving to Paris people shouldn't assume he's full of shit, maybe just exaggerating.

Depends on how socially handicapped you are. Everyone just keeps on spamming that everything is so awkward, while I think it's funny. I don't get it. Crowd dancing to gangnam style "OMG SO AWKWARD xDDDD", they are just having fun...
To be fair, a bunch of nerds dancing in a room with 15:1 male to female ratio is fairly awkward.

I don't think it's the smaller details. It's the entire structure of the tournament.
MLG is, first of all, PPV for half of its streams. Then you have these delays and advertisements that make up 20-30% of the tournament's time. Follow it up with them not showing the best games that people want to watch - ie Stephano's games the last MLG - and awkward awards ceremonies and the only decent thing you're able to say about MLG is that they have better competition in their tournaments due to flying in a lot of Korean pros.
The LAN party side of Dreamhack is an acquired taste. But when they beat MLG in everything else except for quad streaming technology, it's hard not to say that DH is better.

Stop using the word hater, should be fucking banned. Not you in particular but just because people aren't sucking somebody's dick doesn't mean they're being a 'hater'. God worst term to crop up in common discourse in my living memory!
I view Stephano as a Michael Schumacher kind of figure, everyone will respect their ability as you simply have to. Not everybody will love the guy. You say 'he has personality deal with it', perhaps he has a personality other people don't like!
Grubby and Stephano both have personalities, but they're entirely different personalities that will attract different folks
True fucking statement.
Now did we just saw 100k+ viewers on stream? hooollaaaa!
PS Rachel looked good when giving nods and feedback, i thouroughly enjoyed those moments.
something about dreamhack that just makes it a special event. i think it comes from the top guy robert and trickles down into the staff and crew. He just seems to be so much fun, always looking to put on the best show possible for the fans. that's just the impression i get from him. i'll support and watch any dreamhack event.
His cockyness it what makes him awesome tbh He is cocky in a shy, modest way, not pure arrogance like you sometimes see with other people. Off course he love the game and the scene alot and dont only play for monney, why else would you start playing and practicing in the first place when there no monney at all yet.
