Wow Protoss made it so far, RoRo was the only zerg player that made it far, other than that it was literally a protoss death arena in the winners bracket
YEAH!! GO creator!! funnily enough whenever i've watched him live for the past six weeks ago he's won every match (i missed the curious and the squirtle matches haha). otherwise creator's done really well the past few weeks in TSL4, WCS, etc

Ah sick thx ^___^ GOGOGOG Polt :D and Curious so we have more race diversity but mainly Polt! Crush Miya :D
I'm honestly not interested in PvP, and I've had enough of them already. But I'll be cheering like crazy for Polt. There are so few terrans in the Asian championship and none of them are of the highest calibre. It's boring to have a tournament without variety, so if Polt can take this match, the Asian finals will be slightly more interesting

I just realised that the KR stream is ahead of the English one, I was accidentally watching the KR one while listening to the English one and Khaldor just said about the drone pull when miya had already returned the drones to mining.

That's not the hard part. The ability to completely deny the zerg from scouting is what made this build successful. The 10 mauraders were a complete surprise until they showed up halfway across the map. If zerg had anticipated the push it could be stopped by simply allocating resources for a proper defense, instead of droning.
Such bad control, the banelings were stuck by the lings constantly. Is it really too much to ask to pull back two lings or so to create an opening the banelings can use? The day we will see a Z actually utilize micro will be a scary day.

that day wont really happen, since zergs actually need more apm to macro which is more important for zerg than micro....

I like a small group of mutas better (~6ish) to deny drops and also keep T on his toes. Often forces some investment in turrets, makes him split his army a little more and actually denies drops better. On the plus side, corruptors transition better later on.
The trades Miya makes, even though not especially bad for him are still better for Polt. He's constantly trading a lot of gas against a lot of minerals. Polt has denied the 5th base of Zerg for a long time and I feel if he hits with 200/200 he can crush Miya. I don't know why he does send smaller waves , its just not needed against no T3.
Uh-oh. Looks like no even a single Korean terran in WCS finals. Hopefully someone from EU steps up because I can't see Fenix, Illusion and Major making it very far.

yeah he should just have maxed with 10ish tanks and decent split would have mean a landslide victory but his 150/170ish pushes make no sense at all. He must feel like blord are coming or something.

Yeah mutas are faster, more versatile and cost a little less. Corruptors have the resilience, better transition value and the suble mindgame of: "They are comiiiiing... or not?".
FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!! No Polt WCS no Korean terran in WCS and miya is going to get one toss in wcs asia and immediatly lose -.- FUCK well looks like no Terran is going to win WCS FUCK
I think the Corruptors are actually a fairly important part of this composition, taking the place of Mutalisks for an antiair unit. It's pretty interesting, because to make Vikings just to take out Corruptors is a waste, they're harder for Marines or Thors to kill, and if left unchecked they can harass Medivacs.
As was pointed out, a Zerg player needs to be on point with injects to make this composition work. But it was a lot more entertaining to watch than the usual Broodlord/Infestor deathball.

Miya killed Polt by outflanking him, with a very nicely controlled low-tier army of ling/bling/corruptor, with lots of counter-attacks and also being lucky catching siege tanks unsieged several times. Was quite fun to watch, alas at the cost of T participation at WCS Asia.

i know, puzzle was way too passive allow curious to get back in the game
To be honest if Puzzle goes for an all-in which might work, I don't see Curious being one to shy away from ling base trade with mutas, and we all know how base trades against mobile mutaling on a huge map like tal darim goes. I think Puzzle played it right but lost due to the neural.
Curious did the most appropriate thing to follow up a 6 pool, he started droning non stop, teched and expanded did basically the "Oh god don't attack" style for ages and puzzle happily did not attack that's why curious got back in after the 6 pool.

More like not abusing the fact that curious was behind nearly the whole game. If he just attacked there was no way curious could hold since he simply wouldn't have had the production.

Yeah got the feeling even a delayed Blink push would have ended it no problem.

Because of spinecrawler forrest making him either lose his attack... or mutaling basetrade... that's why
I mean going for the 7 gate instead of trying to take a third. Curious was so behind, no way he holds two base aggression.
Well... you could be right. But I think Puzzle knows this game a bit better than you and I. Him being ahead going for a 3rd - and eventually 4th to make an army the zerg can't beat can be a good strat... Unless you're too passive and let him harrass you while going 5base infestor/gglord
Puzzle just needed to do a blink stalkers all in or a 7 gate to punish him. Instead he was too passive and gave curious the chance to come back into the game.
Well this game certainly hammered home just how important it is to punish a Zerg as failing a six pool then playing super greedy afterwards.
But yeah. I was entertained, I was made to bite my nails (something I am not doing lightly!), I was made to swear (considerably more willing to do that), feel frustration, joy, excitement, everything.
Sometimes it is not perfection in strategy or execution that makes for the most emotional attachment; sometimes it is flaws struggling against flaws that really pulls you in. And oh my dear lord did I get pulled in.
Edit: Ok, can breathe now. Feel almost a bit stupid being so nervous for a game where I am not even following any of my favorites. But so sad for Puzzle, after that Miya interview where he said that Puzzle was taking his loss so hard, it is difficult not to feel tons of sympathy for him.

Sure... TDA is horrible for the zerg player... But that doesn't justify a 6pool gone horribly wrong turning into an even game - where the zerg actually wins.
But it's okay for a zerg to get up 6 bases, tech and power drones without any opposition?
There's a difference. This is the race design. This will happen no matter who they are against. That's how zerg works. My main issue is ZvP, where the protoss has no way of punishing the 6 pool before either 3/4 gate (which is somewhat all in) or attack after expanding... Making the zerg take advantage of his racemechanics making him able to catch up without having to deal with anything (well sure... 1-2 zlots and 1 stalker, but come on...)
Please notice how often you see a ZvP 6pool that doesn't do too much dmg where the zerg still turn the game around with little to no effort

Being a protoss player I think I can be (somewhat) objective... Yeah, terran players are really struggling lately. Taeja and MVP should just stop winning so DaKim was forced to act

Ah, for sure! But he won't be at WCS to give us some epic TvZ/Ps or Blizzard donates some seeds for better entertainment.
On the first ladder maps I get that people were eager to see macro games and hated seeing every game end with early aggression, but isn't it equally as silly watching zergs get up to broodlords by default? Broodwar was entertaining because it had a mix of both going on.

I didn't see the opening, but usually when you open 6 pool on tda it's to deny the ffe and force the toss back on 1 base with the first lings while powering drones behind it, it's not a kill move

It's ok, we'll get to enjoy lots of Spine Crawler walls, Infestors and many lasers.

Yeah, I liked Curious for doing a 6pool on TDA, simply because a normal 2base push by protoss can hit you harder because your 3rd was late or is far away... instead you can take down those stupid rocks with plenty of lings... although a 6-7 Gate could have ended the game earlier.

It's a risk though, the easiest way to lose an advantage is to cut tech and go for an all-in, if it doesn't work you're more fucked than the zerg ever was

That is such a safe build for him though it would have to be something crazy / incredible cheesy.

It's a risk either way, while playing defensively and macroing can work if the zerg carries on with the aggression it also throws away your lead if the zerg goes wild with greed like curious did and starts expanding everywhere.

Chargelot/archon/blink stalker timing can work if the phoenixes do no damage or you are ahead in some other way from early game.

You can be aggressive and control expansions without committing to an all-in

Also note that Curious used the lings and mutas very well in delaying Protoss pushing out. Bought him enough time to sneak more bases and finally broods on the map. Although some warp prism harass could have worked wonders on this huuuge map. Broods are sooo slow..

I felt as if puzzle had to do something during that match, he just did nothing and let curious go nuts with his economy which blew puzzle's lead.

Some 3gate builds done specifically for TDA can hit a super small timing window where they have more units than an aggressive 4gate while still having a second gas, so you defend with that tech to blink and counter attack for the win.
I think they do fall behind vs a more defensive 4gate though.

I don't know much about PvP, but won't DTs vs 4gate end, at best, in a base trade for the DT player?

On TDA, yeah. But at the end of the basetrade, the 4gater hides a robo somewhere and wins with the observer.

generally it turns full base race mode, but the 4g player tries to build a robo in the middle of the map, and if you get an obs out you win, otherwise it's difficult
i cant think of a unit more boring than collus, you cant micro your army because collus fights ends in 3 or 4 seconds, its a complete a move unit, and destroys everything on the ground, i would love blizz to remove it and replace it with something acutally microable and intresting for the sake of all match ups
Sad to see Parting lose, but I'm not very worried Squirtle won't make up for it. After 2-0'ing Genius, Creator and PartinG on his way here, seeing him losing 2 bo3's against a player he already 2-0'ed is veeeery unlikely.
Bleh, that was anticlimatic. Just like when I see a huge fungal and obliteration happens. PartinG is so much stronger early, should have played that way.
Creator vs. Squirtle was definitely not the finals I would have picked at the beginning of this tournament lol. Nonetheless I hope we see some good games
I thought this was Monday, I can't believe I missed the night so far. So sad to see Squirtle go down to Creator in the first B03. I hope he can come back in the second!!!

I have a feeling that they are being sincere. If Khaldor is not, at least he is fooling me.
Also, yeah it would not be exciting seeing that on a random stream. But seeing someone do something so out of character, on an unlikely map, with so much on the line. Just the circumstances making it a very special experience. At least if you just buy into it and let yourself be entertained and nervous.
I can understand that people think that these finals (and the lead up with infinite Protoss in the top eight) would constitute the worst possible type of game play. But I guess I just buy into the drama and the tension. So I am enjoying it.

Yeah that's being annoying me for like the past month.
That was pretty bad defense from Creator. On this map, you don't have to micro the in base units (unless the opponent blinks in the main). Just put the immortal on hold position and stop touching it. Then you just micro the units you have in the natural.

It almost didn't matter what Creator did. Squirtle had a much, much bigger army.

Assume he meant initial defense... final one doesn't really matter

Squirtle had the bigger army because of how cost effective he was with blink stalkers. Which goes back to creator's defense.

Yeah I meant during the initial harassment =) Creator had to micro his in base and natural groups at the same time, which is hard because of the ramp (if you click the natural with the in base unit selected, they'll fumble, and vice versa). Anyway, yeah the most efficient is just to put the in base units near the cliff on hold position. He missed so many pot shots he would have hit if he just left his in base units on hold.
I was wondering why Squirtle just didn't pulled back, then I remembered Creator killed a lot of probes so he was basically forced to allin. Well played.
Creator's stargate PvP is so sick, blink stalkers is a BO loss for every other Protoss and he just executes perfectly (except letting the stalkers kill his immortal lol) and wins.
It's like... I mean if he lost at the expense of PartinG I'd be okay with that, but this... I mean I like Creator, but goddammit why does this keep happening T.T

Man, WCS Korea was a SICK tournament!!! Really entertaining games, Kespa showing us what there made out of with special mentions to Roro, Soulkey and CJ Entus Hero, they are the 3 to keep your eyes on! Khaldor and Wolf, you guys work so well together and are actually my favorite casters now (even more than tastosis), I love it when you guys always say GG in synchronization at the end! And of course GOM and Blizzard for such a great production! GOOD GAMES!!
I wonder how many of those will be knocked out in the Asian Championship, they've all looked really strong in this tournament. None seem to have gotten their qualification by a fluke.
Man this sucks a terran play to not even have one like Polt to watch. I guess MVP forfeited and Taeja didn't even try to qualify. It looks like Creator is breaking out winning both this and TSL 4 would be quite an accomplishment.
Sad to see the state of Terran decline like this from the GomTvT days. Not even one Korean Terran qualifying, who could stand up to any of the other Koreans disappoints me, and the other Terrans at WCS probably have less of a chance of winning. I lost a lot of my hype for this tournament unfortunately.
and he won seven out of the 8 series, pretty solid stuff for a coinflip matchup (and creator's worst matchup too, i may add - self-proclaimed :p)
Pretty sure that Creator's worst match-up is his PvT (he crushes protosses easily in teamleagues but he sometimes lose to terrans), but yeah it's an impressive feat :D.

It's nothing to do with "Terran decline", Korean Terrans have been doing just fine in other competitive tournaments lately. But when you combine horrible one shot single elimination qualifiers and then stretch the tournament over several weeks instead of doing it on a single weekend like everyone else then you're going to have to deal with great players either:
A) Failing to qualify due to the horrible upset-friendly qualifier system (Too many to count.) B) Not bothering to even try and qualify (Taeja) C) Just quitting the tournament to attend more lucrative foreign events (MVP).

back when he streamed haha and still talked to his viewers he would complain about pvp all the time. maybe he doesn't mind it as much these days i guess :p aside from his jjakji 6-1 creator's vsT is still pretty good, e.g. 3-1 mkp, etc.

The qualifiers conflicted with MLG Summer Arena. Taeja chose MLG, while MKP chose WCS (though IIRC he had ODT factoring into his schedule as well).
