The Intel Extreme Masters return once more to Guangzhou in China for the second stop of the Season 2012/13. Qualification starts on August 21st.
The Intel Extreme Masters China will take place once more at the Ani-Con & Games in Guangzhou from September 30th until October 4th. Qualification will start right after gamescom to make sure that players have enough time to apply for visa. The stop will feature StarCraft II and League of Legends.
SCHEDULE
Stage 1: Monday, Aug 27 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Stage 2: Tuesday, Aug 28 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Stage 3: Wednesday, Aug 29 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
Best of 3 in all rounds. Once Round of 16 is reached the matches end, and the 16 players then move to stage #2.
A map veto (removal and pick) system is used. The high seeded player (seeds can be found at round 1 on the grid page) decides who starts. Players take it in turn removing maps until only one remains in a best of 1 or until only 3 maps remain in a best of 3. Then each player picks a map. Maps are played in order they are picked. The remaining map is played last.
this is ridiculous. ESL used to be the biggest league of the world. now their stream of the only chance for europeans to qualify for an IEM stop is having 100 viewers and hardly anybody knows about this. Also the players don't really seem to know about it. Not so many good players attending...
still, I think there are some more who lost their chance to qualify. where is xlord for example? or krass? or roof? and its not only about good representation for germany (there might not even be a single german representative). its about all the other nations also.
and most importantly its about the lousy coverage. it cant be in the interest of the ESL to have that few viewers. thats what they should make a good amount of money with and get even more sponsors... And as it seems now that Yello vs Monster game will be the first and last on that stream, since round 2 should be played out in a few minutes already...

Normally I post TL calendar events, but i've been ridiculously busy lately what with the recent IEM and then the Berlin Campus Party thing (only got back yesterday, so i'm taking a little break)... I was assuming someone would have done it but.. I'll see what I can do.
EDIT: Sorted in terms of TL Calendar. Thank you Heyoka and Pholon.
Well the news was out for 3 weeks now. Enough for teams and managers to get hold of dates and stuff. If I as a fan can track this, anyone else can.
However, committing for a week of travel to china is not a small undertaking and not too many players or teams are willing/able to take on the adventure.

ESL pays some of the travel expenses. I don't know how much exactly but every play qualified gets some money when he shows up in China and that definitely helps to support the players.
Edit: Also I shouldn't have trolled Monster in the 2nd game. Veeeeeeeeeeeeery bad idea.
Don't know if there will be replays but I recommend Fuzer vs Targa g1 for those of you who like a healthy amount of crazy in a larger army scale if so.

Looking forward to casting the players tonight to see who will get the spots for Guangzhou!!! I've had 1-2 days rest after my 2 week Tourney marathon and i'm ready to come back and bring some fiery thunder along with me!
Since Tefel didn't show up DarKFoRcE gets another shot at qualifying for Guangzhou. He was eliminated in the last round last night, has the most IEM ranking points out of the four in yesterday's last round and was ready to play.
Edit: We are working on the sound issues! Should be resolved ASAP.

IEM Guangzerg, it looks like, at least from Europe. fOrGG and four Zergs will qualify and the American qualifiers will probably add more Zergs to the mix (with the huge favourite viOlet being in the top half of the qualifier bracket and Suppy, IdrA, KiLLeR, Everize in the other half).
lol Darkforce, only able to play stage 3 because Tefel could not attend and then only moved on because Titan went to play ZOTAC in the midst of the qualifier. GG

TitaN choosing to play ZOTAC instead of IEM qualifier is weird, no ?

And then he didn't even win ZOTAC. T_T
I'd have loved to see Titan qualify, a Protoss replacing a Zerg could've been nice. :D
