can a native speaker please confirm if they are pronouncing "puma" correctly?

sounds like "pu" in "puke." i thought it would be more in line of "poo-ma"

Depends. British people pronounce it that way, but in American English it's poo-ma.

Fun fact: Kas is only 9 wins away from having 1000 official tournament wins according to TLPD.

That's a shitload. I believe he is the second player to achieve this as Nerchio is at 1089 wins. I dont really see anyone else even close to 1k

They are also the 2 most succesful online players in Europe, which is the continent which has by far the highest amount of cups/tournaments on a regular basis super impressive nontheless

yea but the number of wins they are ahead is ridiculous. From checking the first 2 pages of international TLPD since it has way more games, it appears it goes
1st Nerchio: 1089 wins
2nd Kas: 991 wins
3rd Stephano: 585 wins
the gap between top 2 and 3rd O_o

Goody has about 920.

Round Robin stages is obviously much fairer system. Everyone plays everyone else. Order of Group is dictated by the results of these games. GSL Code S is not made up of 32 players who have equal chances of winning it. Some players are more likely than others. It seems pretty silly to pretend that there is no such thing as a lucky draw, especially when players can be less strong in a particular match up.

Maybe you should assemble a 32 man round robin stage and see how that works out.

Or do you not understand the point of a tournament format?

Every single football league in Europe operates under the same principle of a large round robin group of 20 or so teams. They call it a Division in the League. It is widely recognised to be the fairest system to determine the strongest and most consistent team during that season. Cup Tournaments involving teams randomly drawn against each other are recognised to have an element in luck involved as opponents can differ in strength. Not sure why this is even debateable.

Round Robin Groups of 4 with Top 2 advancing is a fairer system than GSL because a player in a GSL group can advance more easily if their opponent happened to be less formidable due to the luck of the draw. It is nonsensical to suggest otherwise.

It is debatable as round-robin system leaves teams/players with matches to play without any hope to advance.
The end result is a lot of 'cannot-be-bothered' performances and in extreme cases outright match-fixing.
No system is ideal.

Are those figures the sum since SC2 began? Or just this year?
