Hmm, I just thought that one way IPL is able to salvage this is to give 2/8 spots to the WCS Canada winners, and 2/8 spots to the WCS NA winners.

And the European Satellite clashes with MLG Summer Arena next weekend? So no Stephano, Nerchio, Grubby or Sase at IPL5 either?
Why not have big tournaments on at weekends, and online qualifiers for tournaments on Wednesdays? Pretty simple and would allow top players to travel to and from major tournaments and also participate in qualifiers on Wednesday?
I think it is a good thing that there are so many SC2 tournaments for players to try out for as this equates to more earning opportunities for the pro-gamers and more SC2 for fans like me to watch. However this clashing of dates is not in the best interests of anyone.
Maybe I am overlooking something given that I am not a tournament planner.

Tubbythefat and Xenocider apparently, if you just take a look at some of the last qualifiers HuK participated in.

Maybe I am overlooking something given that I am not a tournament planner. Nerchio canceled, Goody replaces him, but it seems like Nerchio isn't too keen on traveling to the US anyway. Stephano, Grubby, SaSe are a big loss, though. It also clashes with WCS Russia/Ukraine, so no White-Ra, Bly, Strelok, Fraer, Kas, Happy, TITAN, sLivko, LiveZerg, etc. either.

Players should be bitching at their managers, not IPL.

Seriously, AskJoshy, give me a valid reason why you waited until now to post this thread. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=337913 Yes, there is an announcement thread with the links in there. That doesn't answer my question. Why not make this thread a month ago? Clearly players needed more reminding. To add to this, players are not only training, but they have a lot of tournament dates to remember. So the more reminders, the better.
It's not the organizations responsibility to remind the players of dates, it is their managers responsibility. IPL was obviuously in contact with the managers of the teams much prior to this thread. Place blame on them, not IPL

I use to be on a team with xeno i had a winning record vs him dont remember anything to special. but maybe your right qualifiers can be very unpredictable lots of people can take games off anyone. still feels like it really hurts the NA seen not having them play in it

Pretty much.
IdrA has yet to claw back to a good form, it has been going up the past weeks. Let's see what he can deliver at the summer tournaments where he gets invites.
As for HuK, the pressure is on for the coming weekend after that "LOL" up there ^^
What always ofcourse counts in favor of specially those 2 prominent NA players is their huge huge offline tournament experience.
|
Running these all in one day on the weekend is a bad idea to start with. IPL knows that there is almost always a big event going on during weekends. NASL was announced first. WCS Canada was announced a day after IPL's first announcement. Right then and there IPL needs to realize they can't do this on the same weekend. Yes IPL is the one who should change their date, why? because its an online event and can be changed easily.
These should be going on during the week, like all other qualifiers from major tournaments. Most of TSL, MLG, NASL qualifiers happen during the week. There is a reason for that. Because LANs happen on the weekend.

? people like you are reason why pros dont post on forums ... To say me or idra could lose to high NA players is definitely a possibility but to claim all these players who ARE top na players, would also be out early is just dumb.

These problems didn't come up in the past when IPL ran online qualifiers for their events. For example, IPL3 and IPL4 online qualifiers were run on weekends.
I wonder if all of this is just due to the larger number of LANs going on or if it's because of IPL's reduced emphasis on invites.
|
i wonder if they get enough bad press for this they will change the date,or make the top north americans in nasl or wcs get seeds?
