it's not nonsense, it's rooting for the underdog.
(almost) everyone likes to see the underdog win. sure, i may not always want the foreigner to win, because a lot of Koreans are my favorite players, but it's still always interesting to see a foreigner beat a heavily favored Korean. the same reason it was sick as hell that Jjakji won the GSL against Leenock. 99% of people thought Leenock would crush him, and Jjakji wiped the floor with him.
