It's pretty safe bet the winner of group D will be a Zerg, in all honesty.

Hell, maybe Ryung might pull another miracle. Honestly who thought that he would not only advance from his Ro32 group, but go 2-0 and 4-0 in maps?

seriously, ryung looked scary in ro32, so lets see if he can prove that the GSL is the exception in TvZ right now.

Guess Genius needs to practice some more ^^

Edit: taken form Khaldor's twitter.

More like Naniwa got knocked out early and was sitting behind him watching all his PvP builds. Pretty grimy if you ask me, but that's just how Naniwa is. I am surprised he has so many fans but it makes sense because most people wouldn't be his fan if he wasn't winning.

Come on now, I can understand if you're not a fan, but this...
have some dignity please

You thinks that's respectful? Right before your code S match you go and sit directly behind the person you are facing and watch how he plays? Of course genius is going to be using the same builds as Code S because he is trying to qualify for OSL. It's disgusting.

So yeah, I guess that's why Naniwa won, no? Because he spied on genius beforehand and knew how Genius won't have thermal lance..
You are delusional.

No reading comprehension. Does anyone even read before the reply?

You need to look back at those games and tell me if Naniwa got a build order win there, then you may have a point.
Now you're just trying to find excuses for Genius' sloppy play.

And watching your opponents play beforehand is kinda what gsl is all about, I can guarantee you the Koreans do it too.

What? I said nothing about it giving him an advantage. I just said it's extremely dirty and you wouldn't see a well respected player doing something like that. That's just my opinion, though. I honestly think it's pretty messed up for Khaldor to take a picture right there also. Genius is trying to qualify for a huge tournament and you got someone he is about to play in GSL watching his builds and someone else taking a picture of it.

dam dude you are a real hater.

seriously though, anyone who wouldn't watch their opponent... if i was their coach i would be pretty mad if they didn't.

It's not like Naniwa was observing Genius's private practice. I know there were people watching the finals match Bomber vs MKP. If that's okay, then what Naniwa did is okay. He just took advantage of his resources. It's smart.

Feel sorry for genius, this hurts his team-search prospects.

It really doesn't all that much. He made a really trivial dumb error that isn't really attributable to his gameplay, moreso than him ditzing out in that last game. He's shown enough composure to do well in the GSL finals so while composure is a concern for him, as this is the second time he's forgotten range in a major match, I would say that by and large he keeps himself pretty cool in the booth. He also has good strategic gamesense and is very good at preparing for individual match-ups.

The way I see it, Genius is a solid mid-tier Code S player capable of being high-tier when he's at the top of his form, and when virtually everyone in Code A and even Code B have teams, Genius could have finished last place in his group and still will have no trouble finding a team.

Well he outplayed Naniwa really but forgot collosus range. He'd had won 4-2 if he hadn't forgotten range.

excuses blah blah

Call it an excuse if you like, but nani got really really lucky in that game

I say that as a fan of naniwa as well

He was also very unlucky with that re-game, so that evens things out.

How are you assuming Naniwa would of won that first unplayed game without it even being played out?

Who says anything about winning? The re-game is enough to throw you off, especially if you want to bet everything on one card.

Nani was going to proxy 2 gate and Genius didn't scout his natural in the regame so theres a good plausible chance that it would've worked.

just a question, in a 4 gate vs 4 gate situation, if one player micros poor - does that mean that the winner got lucky because the opponent made a mistake? because then i am often very unlucky

according to Aeroplaneoverthesea i have 100% bad luck even..

this!

making less mistakes than your opponent is basically what all late game comes down to. forgetting range is a huge mistake. genius chocked under his own harassment.

Well there's a difference between forced errors and unforced error.
Forgetting Colossus range was an unforced error and so it's not really to Naniwa's credit that he won the last game. He still obviously had to win a lot of games to even get to that last deciding one.

surprised, but really happy with the outcome, hopefully nani can make it past the ro8, but at least he's secured a new code S berth

but he played really well throughout the game, holding off the immortal harass really well, holding off the zealot harass really well, keeping a good composition. i can see saying that he didn't cause the mistake, but he won that game, played well and came out the winner. straight up.

at that point in the game he was floating high enough minerals and gas that the cost would've been irrelevant, and since nobody was going for a quick timing he just needed to get it AT SOME POINT before the late game clash

Doesn't it usually look a lot more obvious when one player lacks it? Both sides where shooting, just looked like nani got a better first volley.

Meh, I'll wait for the vods...

If I got that right, Genious revealed naniwas cheese (can he see it in the build order, at the end of the game, did he cut probes?) by pausing the game. In that case the luck would be even.

He didn't scout for cheese so obviously it didn't get revealed
