What you can say is that the human vision can recognize up to 10-12 individual images per second, but refresh rates can affect vision and perception of motion differently.

Also, most Starcraft and Starcraft 2 Programers seem to be complete noobs when it comes to technology. My friend and I are IT people, and we actually recently had a discussion how each pro seems to be 'bad' at using a computer. Apart from playing the game of course. 1-the human eye doesn't work in frame per second, saying the eye can't see the difference over x fps is completely dumb read this http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm 2-the reason cs player praise the 100fps mark is because of tickrate, basicly, in counter strike, the computer sends 100 packets of information per second, if you are below 100fps, then less than 100 packets have been processed, giving you a disadvantage in the game

Read this: http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm And one of the conclusion from that article: scientific evidence isn't always needed, especially for that type of question that can be answered for any person who has played games for 10+ years. you will not tell the difference in SC2 if your playing at 100 FPS or 150 FPS. If you have no pc issue, they will look almost completely the same. Im not saying you can't scrutinize it and tell the difference, but i was simply answering the question above. Which is yes, its overkill. EDIT: lol, people being dumb i know the eye doesn't see in fps. I was answering a general basic questions.
