User was warned for this post first, this is usa. second, usa is one country so don't compare it to europe. If you compare it population-wise though, we really are pretty bad. its only equivalent to a few countries. besides, you have to take the culture into account Well, USA has a population of like 312 million, Sweden has 10 million. And you could make very good arguments for them being on par. But then UK has 62 million and only two good players so I can't really talk. Higher population, yes. Also a larger country with events all over it, money being a factor, it is very difficult to break out in America without having a favorable situation. By your logic though, China should have the best players in the world just because they have the largest pop.

Would people from the US really be happy if MLG followed RootCatz desire of having only NA players in NA tournaments ?

The culture part is pretty big though. US population is 30 times the size of sweden, or 6 times of ukraine. pretty funny. has nothing to do with population. its about culture. progaming has been accepted in europe for a longer time than it has in the US. its just starting to be accepted in the US.
Don't think it's that either. The US's biggest problem is how big it is. You can't have a thriving gaming scene if people live in major cities separated by hundreds if not thousands of miles.

Why is the "ultimate" quality stream so washed out? Ultra ends up looking better because the colours are actually accurate :/

Da fuq? WCS finals. This makes no fucking sense. Who is Daisuki. If it's NA finals where are all the good NA players? Firstly is USA finals. Secondly what good NA players? Sheth, Illusion, Idra, are all way better than these scrubs. If that was true one of those 3 players would be playing right now,,,, but they aren't,,,,, so you're wrong You're right, placing above somebody in one tournament means you're better than them. Absolutely better. Losing early in every tournament you play in means you're better then the 2 that make it too the finals, you're right These guys couldn't even get into the tournaments that Illusion, Sheth, and Idra "lose early in". If I win every Daywalker platinum tournament and Sheth doesn't make it out of pools at MLG I must be better than him. you know Sheth was in this tournament right?

Pro gaming is completely rejected in the french culture for example, yet Stephano is doing great

If a new player from America has a lot of skill, he will have good games @ international tournaments like MLG, and then he will have some attention, like for exemple Illusion when he defeated some koreans. A skilled player can find ways to receive recognition The thing is the teams won't get players that don't bring in viewers. If these players don't have teams that can sponsor them they can't compete in many tournaments. But if a player has raw skill and if he trains well (you can not be a contender for GSL without team I know lol, but you can get a decent level just by practising alone, at least that's my opinion), he can place well in some minor tournaments, like Playhem dailies, and if he is consistent, teams will be interested cause he has the potential to improve with good teammates and to bring some results and attention to the team itself For example, when Millenium acquired Stephano, he was not a very-known player, and he started by playing in every GO4SC2 (a tournament in Europe twice a week), and he did very well so then he competed in european tournament and then international tournaments. Honestly ROOT is the only major NA team that will pick up players like that... teams like EG and complexity only go after the big names (which means, lately, Koreans) so it really doesn't matter for an up-and-coming NA player even if they consistently get high placings in Playhem...

Actuallly CNBC recently invested in Esports and that would certainly weaken your case that pro gaming is a joke to almost everyone. Esports is growing and will become more accepted and understood over the next few years.

What kind of logic is that? People are saying that Sheth, Idra, etc actually had a chance to win. If you win every "Daywalker platinum tournament" and Sheth competes in them but never wins over you, then yeah you may be better than him.
