I don't think it's smaller necessarily, it's just the fewest Foreigners we've ever seen in pool play before. And therefore (in this fans opinion) not quite as exciting as it used to be.
its smaller. the open bracket is only 144 due to WCS.
i think the secret to beating zergs as terran is you gotta find a way to get to 3 bases safely without being behind in economy or tech
I believe the 200food hyper lategame terran army (bc/viking/seeker missile/tank/thor/emp) may even be superior to the zerg ultimate 200food hyper lategame army, terrans just dont know a way to achieve it yet safely
but much harder said than done... currently it seems no terran really knows how to do that yet (if it is even possible)
it MAY be possible, or hell it may be impossible, i dont really know
polt vs stephano game 3 where polt tried to play greedy and go for fast 3 CC, he got decimated by the pressure of stephano and really there was nothing polt could do and no way to really scout if that pressure is coming or if zerg is playing greedy before you drop your fast 3 CC... or MAYBE there is i dont know
what i said originally is the main point here... It seems no terran has truly found a way yet to safely get to an even macro game against zerg where the zerg doesnt clearly have a midgame advantage.
For all we know it may be impossible to do, or maybe there is some unexplored build or possibility that remains to be found.
Every time i see stephano or DRG lose to terran in a macro game its usually because the terran played greedy and got away with it.
it seems every time a terran doesnt clearly play ultra greedy hes always fighting a uphill battle against zerg
whats the solution? i dunno i still have hope that there is some unfound build / style / method out there for terran against zerg that will revolutionize the matchup and allow them to not always be behind... or maybe it doesnt exist... sighh
go to 18 minutes 20 seconds to see teh mech army pwnage against nestea. i realize nestea was 30 supply behind hmm but gumiho had bad viking control and kept letting them get clumped and fungaled and gumiho with a 30 supply advantage ended up keeping like 90 supply after the battle its hard to believe if nestea had 30 more supply it woulda swung in his favor
so i think terran has a viable endgame army to fight a lategame zerg... its just hard to get to that point... maybe some viable safe greedy build will found for terran, right now it seems to be all over the place

Yes but marauders destroy stalkers have more burst damage so it's harder to blink.

They cut a round off the open bracket (128 players - it's 144 instead of 272), presumably because of the WCS.

Grubby will be the best foreigner in the world in a couple of months. He's never shown any signs of slowing down. He places better and better in each tournament.
To put things in perspective: Grubby had an 80% win rate in WC3. Flash has a 70% win rate in BW. One could argue that BW had much stronger competition. However, I don't think people get just how good Grubby really was in WC3.
