I really want Polt to go through, but it seems unlikely that he will beat Vines, his TvP isn't as unstoppable as it was a month ago.

It's not supposed to be allowed. But apparently protoss isn't allowed to win a single PvT and if they do it's an outrage. Even if it's one of the worse TvPers in GSL losing.


What does that have to do with anything O.o Regardless of his past TvP performance, the situation in that game was pretty clear.

it is. big maps favour zerg naturally + plus queen buff allows them to take 6 min zerg very easily.

Yep, I totally agree with this. Queen range buff is actually affecting terran openings drastically, and it allows for these type of zerg openings to be much much stronger. Its quite crazy how something like Queen range affects the overall flow of the game so much, but its just what it is.


Yeah, people would be surprised what something like a "range buff" does in an RTS game. This queen buff really just shuts down a lot of aggression that Terrans can do to keep Zerg's drone count in check/early thirds in check.

Just as a funny example, when I played cnc3 shortly after release, the game was mostly mass tanks and infantry were absolutely terrible and useless. The developers increased anti-vehicle missile infantry range by 2-3 and in the next patch tanks almost became completely useless because everyone just massed missile infantry and tanks could barely touch them lol.

Buffing/nerfing things like unit range in RTS is incredibly, incredibly dangerous for balance. It can basically make a unit go from completely useless to uber, uber good. That is what basically happened to the reaper in TvZ too ;d

Seems like protoss can't win a single game without people claiming it was imbalance. Ryung was facing, (I believe) a 5 colossus army with something like 11 vikings...that's just not enough.


I agree that 11 vikings isn't enough to drop 5 collosus im a timely manner, but any additional vikings just increases the amount of hurt that subsequent warpin of 15 chargelots is going to do.

Are you guys serious? If he takes out the colossus WAY faster because of the heavier viking count then he's going to have lost less of his army when the warp in reinforcements arrive. Adding an extra 8 supply or so into vikings, (which he could've been able to do if he hadn't have lost those two initial medivacs) enables him to retain more of his main army against the warp in follow up. Plus the fact that, (as you could see from that game) you can handle the zealot warp in by exploiting positions if your army is big enough.

Perhaps Ishin would have more success late game TvP if he got past his 'CAN'T BUILD MORE THAN 10-12 VIKINGS AUTOLOSE' mentality, (which is actually completely untrue).

You suggest terrans have to build 3 vikings for every colossus then? Do you realize, that's 450 min and 225 gas worth of units to counter 300 min/200 gas of units, and even then terrans are in disadvantage, because while vikings are killing colossi, they are killing terran ground army.

Heaven forbid we have a Code S with an actual even racial distribution.

I used to think Protoss players were stupid, but the nonsense Terran whine from a much needed change to Zerg is frankly ridiculous.

The nature of the change allows Zerg players to adapt to it faster and therefore benefit from it quicker. Terran players are going to have to spend some time tweaking their strategy to come up with a winning formula again, this is how the game evolves and it's been working this way for a long time.

Terran has been on top for more than a year, do you really have to get so mad when it looks like they might only be equals now?

Just enjoy the games, right now almost anyone can beat anyone and that's making for some exciting games, which as spectators, we should all be happy about.

Hopefully Polt can make it through.

You mean the same way zergs have to do that with corrupters, and have done so for the last 2 years, AND corrupters can't land to assist in the battle immediately after??
