The real question IMO is will MVP do the same strats to Parting? Parting is even more of a PvT that you don't want to take to the mid to late game.

well for me MKP was always way overrated, got some MLG arena stuff, but no real achievement like MLG Providence or IPL4, with the whole elite attending.

Ok, there's opinion, then there's just being flat out ignorant.

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2012_MLG_Pro_Circuit/Winter/Championship

Top player list: DRG, MC, GanZi, Parting, aLive, Violet, Oz, Naniwa, Thorzain, Ret...

This wasn't an arena. This was a championship.

Okay deal, MKP started out the year in an impressive fashion and went on to get invited to minor events like MLG arena, which he was able to win, except the last one.

Now put there MVP, aLive or even TaeJa who never got the chance and they would pull out similar impressive results.

Hell even GanZi did an awesome job whenever he got seeded or invited. Not to forget Heart (I mean HEART?! wtf...)

MKP sure didnt lack of Support. (Unplugg the cable in GSTL final being still my favorite)

I missed last night's games. What happened? Did Naniwa put up a good fight, did he whiff all his games or was MVP too overwhelming?

I think that you guys don't get the point,

Cheesing is disgraceful and should be avoided at this lvl of play, sure Nani should have countered them and stuff, but I feel like the general notion of cheese is disrespectful for your opponent, 2 ways you can interpret it IMO :

- I suck too much to take Nani late game.
- Everybody hates Nani in Korea, i'll just Humiliate the guy.

So yeah this is my own point of view regarding cheese, I am not appealing any one to support me or to comment this, but my FEELING today, is that MVP does not deserve any respect from me anymore.

And I am not swedish, neither am I a protoss player, nor a fanboy.

Just a regular fan of the GSL who'd like to see better games and more respect than a straight up 3 cheeses in a row.

So yeah I spit on MVP and hope he will get his butt kicked by partying

I agree. Cheesing is totally disgraceful. Everyone should be allowed to triple hatch, triple CC or triple nexus first - no early pressure allowed!

This is totally retarded post, you can spit on your self and stop insulting players who play to win, not to entertain you.. Cheesing is part of this game, stop watching and commenting if you cant accept this, and noone cares, specially not him, that you lost respect or whatever because he didnt play like you wanted him to play..

One ring, to rule them all!

How much more do you really need to read into this? MVP himself even said that he knows how Nani plays and was going to punish him for it. Stop making him out to be some kind of devil, because he is not.

And no, cheesing isn't disgraceful. At all. In fact, if a player never throws out the unexpected you can be sure that they won't be around for too long.

That's an awful point of view.

As professional players the only thing they should be concerned with is winning games.

If Naniwa finds a probe rush strat that is 90% win rate then I expect him as a progamer to keep doing that.

As for strategies that are bad for the spectator experience, it's a decision only Blizzard should make.
I'm not a fan of Terran cheeses either but to lose respect for MVP because he did what he had to do to win is utterly ridiculous.

when exactly did playing the GSL become all about entertaining the viewers?
It is about winning the title.

Cheesing isn't beautiful but it is legit.

It's obvious that you don't understand the game.

aggression > greed > safe > aggression

The only way to combat greedy play is to be aggressive or greedy yourself. A greedy toss will always beat a greedy terran, because toss lategame army is stronger.

Anyone who thinks cheese is disgraceful is an idiot and doesn't play or understand the game.

People in this thread are so clueless. What do you want a "no rush 20minute" rule? So then there would never even be a point to watching the first 20minutes of games and we just sit around bored for 20minutes? Cheese is an important part of the game, it adds more mind game elements to the game, it keeps players and viewers on their toes, punishes one dimensional predictable players who do the same 1 or 2 builds every game, it adds variety so every game isn't exactly the same and it gives a point to watching the game before 3 bases are up... Besides cheese games are often some of the closest, tensest and most exciting game if you get over the fact that it's cheese and stop trying to be Idra.

Fanboys just get upset when their player loses and cry no matter what, I'm sure if MVP won late game with mass ghosts sniping all templars perfectly or something the same idiots would be whining that MVP is cheesey and afraid of Naniwa's templar skills and ghosts need more nerfs blahblah. People also ignore the fact that cheeses happened in BW too and act like they had a no rush 20minute "respect" rule there or something when it's not the case at all.

I am not talking about early rushes or move to denying the natural or any kind of pressure.

What I am against is : early binary moves that lead to either:
- you winning and your opponent dead before he could even play
- you dying because you gambled too much

I mean, you do a steam timing, it fails, you can still win this, and your opponent had the time to show his play.

A cheese is just a way to shut your opponent before he can ACTUALLY PLAY and that's what I think is bad about cheesing, not letting your opponent any option to do anything.
When 2 rax was the standart in PvZ, it was not an proxy/I send all my scv type of build, just an heavy pressure build.

Do you guys get the difference I feel there ?

And once again this is my FEELING, not the raw truth,

And because Mvp cheesed the all serie, I FEEL like I don't need nor want to respect the guy anymore.

Fuck, this's obviously the season for Parting. MVP played so so well and Nani was too predictable, 1 gate and FE or FFE every game, he deserved to lose.
Beside that Oz played stupid as hell, god who the fuck 1 canon expand in PvP on the map like that???

I quit SC2 a couple of months ago despite being a decent player (masters multiple seasons) and putting all my faith into the game.

The reasons I quit were primarily for 2 reasons:
1) Obscure mistakes cost you the game at all levels of play - whether they be mechanical or strategical the punishment on not covering every detail is so high that it discourages me from playing.
2) Blizzard support - other companies are doing a better job.

I had a year pass for GOM, but barely used it anymore. After months of not watching any SC2 I tune in to see that no 3 base play was achieved from some of the best players in the world. I see that cheesing is so powerful that any sort of economical play is suspect to losing even at the highest levels.

Naniwa is someone that practiced years for that set, hours upon hours. That's the most frustrating part to watch. Sure, you could tell he was nervous. He was using non standard and relatively greedy builds. That doesn't mean SC2 doesn't have an extreme snowball effect over the smallest details, especially when considering Protoss.

That Naniwa vs. MVP set was lame, and it embodied so much of why I quit this game. I really hope Blizzard strives to create a game where you can recover from most small mistakes. It's okay if there's some razor-thin mistakes that cost you the game (ex. missing ff), but the DPS-to-Health ratio makes the units have so much burst in this game that it has hampered strategical growth.
