The player he faces next round will be much tougher than any he's faced in Code S this season. I've seen him beat some good zergs in the last few months.. hopefully he can go up vs Leenock or July I think he would have a good chance then.

If you want to get technical Huk got a seed into GSL, and managed to stick around for a while, before getting into the Ro8. He might never have qualified if not for the original seed

Genius's PvP, meanwhile, isn't that great. He's beaten Seed, MC, and Sage, but he's lost to Naniwa, Hero, and Puzzle. That's not a record to wager against Naniwa, who hasn't lost a series to a Protoss other than HuK in 2012, and who's beaten every top Korean Protoss he's come up against this year. Naniwa's managed to dodge top ZvPers thus far, which is good for him, but he's also managed to dodge very solid TvPers. Virus has great wins under his belt, but he's not super solid and experienced. But then again, that's where Squirtle comes in.

2-1 Puzzle 2-0 Ryung 2-0 Genius 2-0 Virus Besides Genius, the other opponents were borderline Code A / Code S players. It's great that Naniwa advanced, but his groups been pretty easy so far and played to his PvP strength. The real test will come in ro8. Let's hope it's not another coinflip PvP.

Naniwa has taken over as the "hot streak" contender.

I agree that he didn't beat the absolutely best players in Code-S, but Virus is no slouch. He took out MC and Nestea to advance from the Ro32. So the Ro8 is the real test of what? Code-S level? You don't have to knock out MKP to be Code-S level. Getting to Ro8 with this new format that's a lot harder means you can hang with those players.

You are trying too hard. You are the perfect example for the types of people who will look for reasons to downplay, foreigners, every single time. It's always "NEXT time is a real test, unless he wins next time.. then next time AGAIN is the real test" This was really karma on Genius, imo, he was pretty awkward to listen too during picks.

He played, Code-A: Curious: 2-0 Revival: 2-1 Losira: 0-2 Up & Down: InCa: 0-2 Choya: 2-1 I remember not being super impressed with his run at the time, but qualifying through Code-A is still more legitimate than getting a Code-S seed. On the other hand, Naniwa took out DRG and Nestea to earn that first Code-S seed he then got denied.

Maybe something like three qualifiers, one for EU, one for SEA and one for NA, have the top 12 players (top four from each) compete in a mini-tournament and if they want to give a code S seed give it to the winner while the second place gets up/downs and third gets code A. Or however they want to do it, I liked when the seeds were for MLG, those were earned and there was a lot less argument over how legitimate the guys who got them were. Well, the code S seed is basically that, except they don't organize a qualifier themselves but instead use the results of all foreign tournaments between season to choose. So it's the same thing, in fact if they made a foreign only qualifier the arguments for/against would be exactly the same, with no Korean allowed to play in the qualifier.

It's true he didn't play his weakest matchup, but that's how it goes. Most of the people who advance tend to do so by playing their strong matchups.

Or at least more seeds overall, why hate on someone especially when it's going good for him. t.t Huk never got a single Code S seed. Back then he got seeded for Code A, qualified for Code S and sticked it out there for quite some time. In the end it doesn't matter how you got in. The only important thing is how you play in Code S. Naniwa showed that he is good enough for Code S.

I believe quarter final is 1v1 format? Looking at potential match ups, it will only get harder for him but I hope he analyze his opponent real well.

There are so many build order insta losses. In TvT 1 rax expand can hold everything. In PvP there is a lot of chance involved.
