Be prepeared to wait a while. Stephano's mouth wrote a cheque his arse couldn't cash.
Would be a good match no doubt, but I feel like results speak louder than a 1v1 showmatch. First foreigner to win Code S will be the king. Stephano needs to go back to Korea before he quits sc2 to give it another shot.

Could it be that Genius chose Naniwa to help him get through? If Genius can get out of this group I'd seriously consider that reason. Genius is really good PvP, Naniwa is a foreigner, and he probably wanted revenge for losing to him in the GSTL. Also I don't think Naniwa/MvP have the best relationship after he basically said they barely practice, don't work as hard, etc.
he said they barely practiced with him not that they didn't practice at all.

Kinda like Idra in that regard. I'm hoping it won't happen this time though :-k The problem is that Naniwa doesn't cheese. The problem is NOT though that Naniwa easily dies to cheese, because as we all know his builds and style are solid as fuck. In that regard he's not more in danger of losing to cheese than any other player. And tilting is also not a problem for him. He keeps his cool quite well, most of the time.
NaNiwa doesnt cheese? Why don't you ask NesTea at MLG Winter Arena :D?
Nani went nexus first 2 games in a row, and then double proxy gate, and nestea did hatch first, the mindgames...
I could easily see NaNiwa making it to Ro4, Mvps TvP has never been impressive, and NaNiwa have beaten every top korean zerg, and another PvP? foreigners always win PvP, thats just how the world works, i'm sorry.

The best thing about Naniwa winning is reading posts by people who predicted his demise, now complaining about how bad the quality of the games have been.
Oh my, i doesn't feel good, does it, to be so very wrong.

does anyone know the what the song is playing right now?

so far my predictions are right naniwa and virus both won their games. now if genius advances, then i am 3 and 3! For the first time!

I dont know about you guys, but im feeling a ro4 here, when we swedes go GSL we go ro4 aight? July is probably the easiest for Naniwa, followed by MVP and Leenock but I'll never count players of their caliber out. Naniwa probably has the edge in a PvP with Hero as well but it's very hard to predict.

You guys have to remember that SC2 has become so refined that trying to break into the top 8 of the GSL is MUCH harder than it was in the past. Sure, getting through a round of 64 is tedious, but the bracket is random. This new system is much more rigorous for anyone trying to get far. Naniwa is well deserved for being in the round of 8, He has more than a great shot at this point for the finals!

I love those players. But the GSL was a lot less tough when they made their runs, compared to what it is now. I think this run gives Naniwa a decent argument for best foreigner ever. Not by itself, but in combination with his other achievements. For what it is worth, I would still put HuK's achievements a little ahead of Nani's. All Nani needs to do is win a Ace match for Startale to catch up, or a 1-2 more seasons in GSL.

Very wp by Naniwa.
He did do a ceremony against Genius, just it was mostly missed by the cameras.

Pretty sure Genius said he thought Nani was the strongest player. Didn't see the selection, but people earlier were saying so.

Glad to see Naniwa overcame his mental block and is now doing great, following in the footsteps of Jinro, IdrA and HuK. Hopefully all his days of probe rushing are now firmly behind him.
Yet people call MKP the "Best player in the world" when he hasn't been past the round of 16 in a Code S season in a year.

Proceeds to be the first foreigner in forever to make it to Ro8 Jinro, Idra, and Huk have all also made it to R8 of Code S too. Still a fantastic achievement though. Still.. level of play is way better now than it was when those were in Code S. At that time the level of the Koreans wasn't far away from the foreigners, but after all this time, where we have had a chance of really seeing the difference in skill because of the training methods and dedication of the koreans, I would say this accomplishment is bigger than any of the 3 you just mentioned there. Well Jinro made r4 twice which is the biggest accomplishment. I agree that the level of play is way better now and the gap is bigger, but they were still massive achievements in their own context.
Still, it wasn't unheard of at that time, that a foreigner did so well against koreans. It is now.

I'm really happy for Nani and the foreign scene overall. Really sorry i couldn't see the matches.

Startale players (including Naniwa ) are on fire this season. It's got to be with their training system in Startale house
|
If I understand the GSL format correctly, this means Naniwa will be in Code S for this season and the start of season 3, that's a huge perk, since he lives in KR.
