Except for Idra, Huk and Jinro .... get your facts straight.

You should read better, "in forever" which means, first foreigner in a while to make it to Ro8. Now I don't know whether that's true or not but yeah.

Stephano?

Stephano isn't interested in beating the best players. How can he ever be the best player? He's probably top 3 anyway though lol.

Read his post again. "first foreigner In forever" is not "first foreigner ever".

To woefully pedantic, it actually is.

But I get your point. That was very much an overreaction.

Stephano isn't in Code S, you can't stake a claim to the best foreigner title while someone else is having a deep run in Code S.

Glad to see Naniwa overcame his mental block and is now doing great, following in the footsteps of Jinro, IdrA and HuK. Hopefully all his days of probe rushing are now firmly behind him.

Virus' building placement leaves much to be desired

He killed himself in that second game. First by giving nani free marines with a bunker sandwich (seriously, never put marines between two bunkers like that...) and the last engage (altohugh it didn't matter much, the point stands) cutting his own wide natural in half for easy forcefielding

Jinro, Idra, and Huk have all also made it to R8 of Code S too.

Still a fantastic achievement though.

Except Jinro made it to the round of 4, twice.

<pedant>He only made to it the round of 4 in Code S once <\pedant>

@Artosis Other players that have won both their groups in a GSL: NesTea, Mvp, MMA. Naniwa is the first to do it with Bo3s. #GSL #SC2 @GOMTV

Wow that is interesting! The fact alone to be placed in a group with these players is an amazing achievement

Funny that Genius thought NaNiwa was the weakest player (he picked him) and now he looks like one of the strongest

Still.. level of play is way better now than it was when those were in Code S. At that time the level of the Koreans wasn't far away from the foreigners, but after all this time, where we have had a chance of really seeing the difference in skill because of the training methods and dedication of the koreans, I would say this accomplishment is bigger than any of the 3 you just mentioned there.

Well Jinro made r4 twice which is the biggest accomplishment. I agree that the level of play is way better now and the gap is bigger, but they were still massive achievements in their own context.

Naniwas next opponent will be MVP, Hero, July or Leenock depending on who gets 2nd place in the group. I would actually give him high chances against everyone but Leenock, so the semifinals seem quite likely! Gogo Naniwa!
If you never try you never know. Sase - Mana - TLO - WhiteRa - Naniwa - Sheth - HuK

Im very happy and pleased. Naniwa got a very positive trend going. Calm and composed, no need for BM or awkward ceremonies, just let the game speak for itself!

Very wp by Naniwa.

lol lol easy on the conclusions...GSL champ c'mon ? When there is TaeJa,Hero,MVP,KONGPRIME,Parting,SK.2base and Squirtle you can't label anybody as champ at the Ro8 (if he is not Flash of course).

That would be one sweet match. Stephano ZvP is pretty insane. Not seen Naniwa vZ in a while though.
