Sorry for wanting to celebrate and discuss the biggest SC2 tournament in the world on the biggest SC2 community site in the world. The world doesn't revolve around you. Don't come to TL if you don't want to know the results -- the rest of us want to talk about it.
As for the finals: SICK. So happy for DRG although I would be pissed with all his monkeying around between games if I were Genius. I think Genius could have won if not for that carrier misstep. :/
That's utter bollocks. Artosis completely invented that "fact" to hype the finals more, and make the players seem better. In actual fact, even when it is 8 Carriers vs equivalent cost of Corruptors, Corruptors still win. There is no barrier after which mass Carriers becomes unbeatable. Try it on a unit tester: assume that Genius had +1 attack and so did DRG, as that was the most plausible outcome. Use the Corruption ability, micro back Carriers etc. Once again, Corruptors still win.
You're missing the point. Artosis was assuming DRG wasn't going to be able to scout the carriers and wouldn't have the spire in time. 8 Carriers vs no corrupters = a Genius win.
You don't need to scout carriers to go spire. Drg already scouted 2 stargates. If he didn't prepare for air he would have died to mass void rays too but of course DRG would because again he scouted it and a zerg really shouldn't be going that long without anti air.
Edit: and this is under the assumption that hydras wouldn't be enough to stop carriers (which I'm quite sure they would be)
If I remember the game correctly it is the one where Genius tried to force him into the Hydralisk tech path by having enough air that he couldn't go muta. Pretty sure Artosis explained the whole thought process pretty clearly.

I don't know any professional sport where during the course of a match/event players of opposing sides put on what amounts to a comedy show. You wouldn't see KeSPA allow this. You wouldn't see an NFL franchise tolerate this. I probably wouldn't mind as much if this happened in ro32 group stage or something, but come on, this was the finals. I expected a little more composure.
there are something I haven't mentioned during interview... SangHo, Minchul, thanks for helping my practice, and i appreciate my fans for their support.
LOL MC sure dont want to see another Toss Champion

In the last game why the fuck did you attack into the spine crawlers wall when you had advantage man, just killed the rock and walk in the man or denied as much hatch as possible?
sighhhhhhhh, fuck it.
Crossfire, what do you expect. The next map after that was Bel'Shir. Those are 2 base all-in maps for Protoss.
It's not quite like when Jaedong was handed that win over flash over a DC in (OSL?) finals, but having a deciding match for Protoss on CrossFire is disappointing to say the least.
Jaedong had that in the bag, but I kind of like Crossfire, even though a lot of the PvZs are suckish
True, though the definition of Flash is that he comes back from impossible situations. Even so... JD had it in the bag.
...
Genius made a lot of stupid mistakes that series (bungling micro on his proxy 2port, inability to commit to defend or base-trade in multiple games, etc.) but what killed me was watching how desperately he was moving around in that last game, trying to shut down wherever DRG might expand to keep it 2v2 base, knowing he couldn't hold a third of his own.
So many posts about how Genius failed XF because he couldn't keep his army together when they couldn't see how many awesome flanks he *almost* set up, while simultaneously hunting for expansions - making the best out of a shit situation and almost coming through.
DRG played better last night period and probably would have won regardless, don't get me wrong, but you don't want to see someone go out like that.
CrossFire is fucking handicap map.
Good riddance. -_-;
If you cant understand the position of the game at that "MSL" finals, there is no helping your lack of grasp for the game..
I made that post specifically because I was desperately hoping someone would help my "grasp for the game" as relates to a BW match that was the subject a minor digression from the topic at hand. At least now I know where I stand in the eyes of some rando I never asked in the first place, forever.
Thanks for gracing me with your shitty, unnecessary opinion. =]
I'm not sure where to start. Do you watch traditionnal sports?
Oh boy. Continue, please. If you have a point to make, make it - but lose that condescending tone asap.
But if you prefer, I'll clarify - Do I really think they need to make every single little thing sound "the best ever"? No, but I definitely expect them to hype it up, regardless of the reality. I wouldn't expect anything less, and I doubt GOM wouldn't either.
Edit - Or hell - they really could have even believed that it was one of the best finals ever as they were caught up in the moment.
I certainly genuinely think this is one of the best finals ever.
Me too.
But it actually is one of the best, because we had a lot of extremely bad ones, the thing is, this finals doesn't hold anything when compared to JJ vs Leenock or MMA vs DRG, in that light, it's barely passable.
JJ v Leenock and MMA v DRG finals were no where near as good compared to the Genius v DRG finals actually. Subjectivity is an awesome thing.
The quality of strictly the games along is incomparable. Those were some epic TvZ's. Blizzcup is still the best finals in Sc2 history so far.
This was still good though.
different people value different things in the game. imo these finals were trash compared to jakji vs leenock or mma vs drg, but then i enjoy extremely technical games and not carrier rushes. almost all protoss games are gimicky though, so as far as tht goes drg vs genius was as good as anyone could have hoped for.
There were a lot of highly "technical" games played in this series actually. Probably higher than the series you claim to have liked better. The long macro games that everyone claims to love are actually the opposite of highly technical.
when i say technical i mean mechanics, maybe thats not the "accepted' definitoin of it. overall game micro, macro, multitasking. going for a build order win (3 void rush) and fucking it up isnt technical, its cheesy; same goes for any kind of timing attacks because it relies on your opeonent making a mistake and not preparing for it.
The entire game is centered around timing attacks and the mechanics necessary to crisply execute those timing attacks. Sorry, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
The whole spoiler thing is retarded. Finally TL is having news about events right away and it's only a good thing.
I watched the finals about 20 hours late and I never thought of going on TL before watching it... or if I did I'd avoid anything that could spoil me INCLUDING the home page.
It's like you don't go on TLpro if Hero is playing in GSL the night before. If you got spoiled you only got yourself to blame.
That said, Genius played great I just wish he took less risks and tried to play more standard on protoss favoured map especially Entombed valley. There are maps where getting 2 bases is easy, but protoss struggle on it where carrier might have been good, but not on entombed. I feel like he threw 2 games away on 2 good maps early on when later maps were pretty bad for protoss. Even if he won crossfire he still had to play on Bel Shir
That said it was one of the best finals so far and DRG totally deserves it
Fun finals, but even as a Zerg player myself, it felt like Genius partly gave that series away.
The carriers would be just one example. Carriers are like Collossi. They're a glass cannon, a support unit for your army. Genius went to carriers like they were the only unit in his army that mattered, even turtling behind mass cannons..... Uh, yuck!!! DRG's response to this was perfectly correct and perfectly obvious. I like to think Carriers can be viable as a late game unit to supplement the Protoss deathball. What Genius did that game seemed ridiculous... I actually think he was somewhat joking, thinking he would win the series regardless of the loss.
And then that one game he forgets WarpGate Tech --- how the ****? A fun event, but certainly not champion-worthy games. Still, DRG is a boss and they both fought hard to get there, so kudos.

Key difference is, that was after the finals ended, not between sets. And it wasn't done in a way that humiliates his opponent, even if that wasn't DRG's intention.

Hard to compare to any professional sport because they are teammates and friends, but I do agree that DRG shouldn't have kept going into Genius' booth. Ceremonies in his own booth would have been enough.

FBH threw a bowl of rice at his opponent's box (apparently a bowl of rice symbolizes something really BM in korea). But I agree with you in the in-between sets. HOWEVER, these two guys are best friends and on the same team so if it's fine with them then why is there a problem?
Didn't read thread, but can you not spoil the finals until a few days later? I mean fuck the people that pay money for this tournament and work may not have a chance to see what happened right away. I paid my money like I'm sure plenty of other people have only to see the results plastered right all over tl's front page. C'mon ya'll have got to be smarter than this. You don't see Oscar winning movie plots on the front page of every site covering the academy's. This is common sense. In the future for PPV events give at least a couple of days.

that's your fault for not hiding the spoiler
Um it's on TL frontpage.. I didn't see a hide spoiler option it was just there...
Sad I missed the games but glad DRG won. This is the first time a player from the least represented race in the Ro8 won the whole thing since FD in the very first GSL. It's a sure sign of SC2's development that skill can now overcome race. Genius also really rubs off the wrong way on me. I dislike lazy but talented types who only try hard when they feel like it.
