aLive just beat DRG 2-1 in IPL last week, wouldnt be surprised if he takes the season. MMA prolly was the hardest opponent out of anyone.

Agreed, people are grossly underestimating Alive. He's coming off wins in the aforementioned IPL qualifiers ( http://playhem.com/tourney/15322 ), where he beat Life, Crank, DRG, Naniwa, and Puma, and the ESV Korean Weekly S2 #2 ( http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/ESV_TV_Korean_Weekly/Season_2/Weekly_2 ), where he beat Seal, Ryung, and Taeja. He's 7-1 in his last eight GSL games (dropping that one game to MMA), and 13-3 in Korean matches since the end of January ( http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/details.php?section=sc2-korean&type=players&id=1988&part=games&league=standard ). People might pooh-pooh his online event results, but clearly his match preparation is superb from his dismantling of MMA -- his builds were excellent and his scouting of the proxy factory in game 2 was obviously planned.

Unless he has leveled up his TvZ several times I don't see him taking a single game off DRG.

He beat DRG to qualify for IPL4

I really think aLive can be a fearsome opponent following 2012 as a whole. Especially since he has learned much from last years terran kings, aka MMA and MVP.

I might be really wrong though, I've just been lurking around TL since summer and have yet to even play more than 50 starcraft 2 games in my whole life. Just my thoughts as a spectator.

aLive has always been a very solid who does everything well, but wasn't particularly stylistic, in a sense, you never knew what he was good for, just that he was good. He was also very inconsistent.

He has improved a lot though in terms of his consistency and has really kicked it up a notch in terms of performances. I don't know how he went completely under my radar (perhaps the uncharacteristically poor performances outside of the GSTL and at foreigner events) but now that I look back, he looked really good in GSL 3 against Zenio. I thought he could definitely be the next good Terran.

only protoss who advanced, advanced from a mirror

All what KT currently needs is a Zerg and a second Terran

I just don't understand how Genius became so good. For the entirety of 2011 Genius was just a generic above average protoss no different from tester or sangho. He started to differentiate his play late in the year with funky carrier builds but at no point could you have ever said that this guy was a threat to go far in code S. Now suddenly he's become a beast with no explanation?

Could be the quality of the MVP house has improved drastically there was a long period where genius was the only gsl player in the house. I would bet as his team got better and he started to fall behind he pushed himself harder and now it's paying off

Accoring to the interviews, Genius lives alone. Or maybe i heard wrong/it's old news, but I'm pretty sure.

I have to agree with you, aLive seems to be able to play both styles very well. I can't wait for next season to see how MVP does, he is still my favorite player and think people are dethroning him quite undeservedly, but the upper reaches of Code S are starting to get mighty crowded.. staying in Code S will become much more meaningful both with this new format and the new quality competition.

I think genius is at the MVP house. DRG said in ro32 interview that genius took a break and went back home for Xmas and came back really good.

Argh, why is it that the people I wanted to win yesterday, when I didn't really care who won, won, but today the people I wanted to win and cared about, lost. Code S is always full of such heartbreak.
