Where is all this Idra hype some people keep eluding to in this thread. The way people are throwing the words overrated and over hyped around you would swear nothing else but Idra gets spoken about. Over on reddit Idra is getting ripped apart by the younger starcraft audience and he got some good backlash here in this thread as well. Im a common reader and poster in Idra's fanclub thread and even there we don't spout on how he is gonna roll through Code S and win. So where the heck is all this hype because so far I don't come across to many positive comments about the bloke

All the people who say he is the "best foreigner Zerg" and how he has the "best mechanics of ANY Zerg" are statements from Idra fans on a daily basis. You can't go onto any thread about him without reading these things.

Sorry for double post. >.>

Every player has fans that says this, the problem is that Idra has a god damn horde of them all spewing out stuff like that. That's why so many people find the Idra hype to be so annoying, cause there's a lot of it.

I personally don't think Idra has earned that hype in a long time which makes me hate it even more.

I really think there are a few foreigners, who would have a shot at Code A, maybe even Code S, just to throw some names into the room: Nerchio, Stephano, Kas, Thorzain, but even if they would play there, there is no need to cheer just for them, because there foreigners.
Who cares if player XY comes from Europe, North America, Korea, or anywhere else?
Why judge on Nationality and not on skill?

Thanks for agreeing. :D

Back in WC3, all of the general semi-pros that I hung out with (along with the casuals too of course) always wanted the favorite player to win, and not the "foreigner vs korean" thing. Nobody cared that european teams were filled with "korean/chinese mercenaries", or anything like that. People just wanted the player to win. For me, even in SC2, I'll always root for the former members of WeRRa, Team Prime, and any old WC3 "foreigners" because I happen to be huge fans of WC3 players in general. But, I've come to like a lot of Starcraft/Starcraft 2 "specific" players, but because of their nationality, but because of their playstyle. Watching aggressive/timing attack based players is always fun...and yes, this pretty much describes MC. I may be partly an MC fanboy, but honestly, people underestimate him at times because of that image he got during his slump when he had no time to practice. He's winning games now at high levels again, and still barely gets recognition. He can obviously macro and micro, but people probably dislike his 2-base centric playstyle, cause they believe that all SC2 games should be 2 hours long with the whole map taken. :/

Cliff notes: Player Skill/Personality > Player Nationality.

I think this Code A is really overrated .... A lot of foreigners would win both matches easy 2-0. Idra and Huk just played really bad, especially Idra. There was absolutely nothing special about those two koreans ... Losira played really bad too. It is all because of Idra and Huk are not at their best at all. There are many way better guys in EU and NA.

I agree with you. Here are Huk's latest stats vs European players in bo3 or bo5 matches:

1-2 Kas
2-3 HasuObs
0-2 Seiplo
2-1 Orly
2-1 Seala
1-2 Titan
0-2 Dimaga
1-3 Elfi
1-2 BratOk
0-2 DarkForce
0-2 Stephano

These are his results vs European players since October. 10 - 22 map score = 31% win rate.

I wish people would stop calling foreigners bad just because IdrA and Huk are doing poorly vs Koreans.

Foreigners aren't bad....but they're being super hyped up. This isn't really a bad thing as it's nice to cheer for your favorite players, but if they lose, why do people insist on saying that GSL doesn't mean anything? It's sort of dumb.

This, thank you good sir. Nothing more to add, I don't give a flying fuck if someone is from X or Y, I just judge the overall skill level and decision making. I really don't understand this whole hype thing about foreigners...

Code is so overrated that foreigners keep getting knocked out of code A, and knocked out by code A or not even code A korean players in foreign tournaments like Sound, Violet, blah, blah blah. Stop being so fucking biased.

Because this game would be nothing without emotional investment, and the players personality and nationality is a big part of that for many people. Its the same for any sport imaginable.

Nice. I like the results. Terran's getting knocked out is always a great thing. Not really sad about the foreigners since I didn't think they would win anyway. Also, good for Sen moving on. He's the only foreigner I thought that had a chance at advancing. Also, I wish corePrime advanced cause I want the Prime team to do well

Finally, about the whole Naniwa/Huk/MC thing, I really think that's a joke. MC is obviously better than these two....and I think that people are really still stuck on MC's whole image during his slump. Huk is going on a "slump" too because he's doing the same thing that MC did....flying everywhere to play in tournaments and not enough quality practice time. Finally, Naniwa is good, and I may be interpreting what is being said wrong, but for him to say that Huk/himself are better than MC is a joke as well. He can't even break through Code A :/

Naniwa record was 0-6 during in Code A if i rerember correctly LOL.

and MCs Code A record is... wait. he didnt make it to round 2... lol

Why don't you try to compare their codeS record?
oh wait....
Nani never played in CodeS... Right and you can not compare.

Mc was dominating Leenock while Nani can not even hold off a cheese from Leenock.

Mc was the best gsl toss in 2011 and was called the best toss by top korean players like Parting and Oz. Why did you even try to compare? It is not even close.

Even if IdrA and HuK won there is ALWAYS more practicing to do.

I wish people in here would stop criticizing and saying these players are awful. I mean when you are in gold and trying to tell someone who is above the top 1% of players how to play or what they should do I think you need to sit and think about what you are saying.

Well in HuKs case he admitted to barely practicing at all in the last month and tried to grind out a ton of practice right before his match.

The GSL should not care about the Nationality.
They should simply invite the best players, no matter if foreign or not.

Sadly all the best players are at Korea.

What's sad about that?

If all the best players were european, would you be saying that?

Thats what i meant. US has the weakest pool of players (including US/EU/KR/CN). And even among those idra is not the cream of the crop.
